Well.. 3-4 years ago u wouldnt imagine this would work in any time by soon. Playing on a Handheld PC games at 40-60 fps is crazy.. dude the consoles plays at 30-60 fps !!! And we talking not about ps3 we are talking about ps4 and xbox one. Thats impressive on small device / Handheld to be this strong ! Crazy times.

I did ultra across the board for fallout 4 and it's a locked 30 fps. Really a great experience
been playing fallout 1 on steam deck and LOVING IT
You can use Scaling X2 for Fallout 1 and 2 to make a bigger UI. It also zooms in the picture in gameplay, making everything not as tiny as with default scaling. Also fixes black bars to the sides of the screen at certain areas.
You can also zoom camera in and out when in 3rd person for all the 3d Fallouts by holding the perspective switch button and pushing the right stick up and down

I've been playing heavily modded FONV with an ENB on my Steam Deck and it has been AMAZING, it runs at around 52 FPS, everything high. I recommend using the MO2 unofficial 'Linux' (it runs it through Proton but it's really stable) installer as it's a really good way to have a really good mod manager on Linux.

I wish they'd redo 1,2 and Tactics like it was done with the Xcom reboots. Keep the look and gameplay but move it to a modern engine.
I Love being able to make a radial menu for Fallout 1 & 2! You can even use icons instead of the standard key icon. Makes playing the game with a controller on the couch so much easier!

The Deck is just perfect for these 360 era games. They look great on the smaller screen and you get 60 fps. Fallout 3 and Vegas are great to play handheld. I never got too far in 4. 😅

Hey, Santiago, did you disable vsync (some .ini file) on Fallout 4?
Because if not, the fps shown by the Deck is an illusion, the game actually runs at half the framerate Gamescope is showing.
It does look smooth in your screen capture, though.
It seems to be happening on the OLED deck, so far it's been showing correct numbers for me. Lots of people told me they never dropped below 90 fps, I guess that's why

@@jakeowenramos5754 The Steam Deck is literally just another PC, though running on Linux, so yeah, whatever ANY game gets on Steam will most probably be on the Deck as well.
Reddit has a solution posted that I used as well - you need to go to Desktop mode, find a relevant TXT file and change one line. This will fix the issue. I am playing with locked 45FPS, getting close to 4 hours on full charge, no fan noise.
I ended up using the _Load Accelerator_ mod.
I capped the fps within the .ini file to 60 with the loading screens at 350 (mod's default), so that loading is still fast but gameplay will be locked to 60 (or lower with Steam's own fps limiter).
I've experienced one crash so far in fallout 3. When I was escaping the vault in the beginning of the game

Why does my fallout 4 say 90 fps locked? Sometimes it dips when loading screen but it's 90 and smooth even in diamond city.
I moved the draw distance and other stuff a little bit back.

@@georgexander7170 you need to go into files and update a setting from a "1" to a "0". There are a few Steam discussions about it with better directions. Good luck

I’m having trouble deciding whether to get a steam deck or a pc. I’ve always been a console gamer but have been wanting a pc. But I’ve heard fallout 3 is almost impossible to run on pc. And the main reason I’m wanting a pc is to play fallout 1 2 3 and new Vegas. Should I get a steam deck to play the series, or try to get the fallout games to run well on pc. I’m not very good with tech stuff so I would really appreciate some advice.
Well fallout is bettet polished than new vegas i have about 60 hrs on fallout 3 and only like 3 or 4 crashes vanilla and in new vegss its opposite i have like 3 or 4 hrs and it crashed like 4 5 times if u want to run new vegas install anti crasher cuz vanilla game has a memory leak

@@Rebe-Caufman lol it sharpens literally every single texture in the game, same with NIS but NIS washes out the color abit, if your FSR isn't working on the steam deck you need to lower the resolution and possibly take the game out of full screen, but fallout new Vegas shouldn't need to lower the resolution, I just know FSR thought the steam deck performance tab does not work at native resolution, in dying light 2 I achieve almost a stable 60 fps by forcing the game to 600p through steam then using FSR on the steam deck and using FSR in game
I been thinking about getting a stream deck. When running fallout 4 the temp was getting up to 90 degrees Celsius. Is this normal?
If you are worried about temps the OLED Steam Deck is way cooler than this one. This happens to be an LCD model, max temps are 95C. Hits 90 in some games, but never gets hot to the touch

Hmmm might have to play FO3 and NV on my deck, cos as sure as shit I cannot play them on my Win 11 PC, and yes I have tried all the fixes, just no go. probably be a bit dire for me though because I have played them in the past on M&K with my gaming mouse set up with profiles for them.

try pc controls with gyro and trackpad aiming. disable vertical aim on the trackpad. and use gyro for that. this makes aiming on steam deck awesome. trust me.

Why I´m the only one that has troubles with 76 on the Deck?? Since I put the game on the Deck (October 2023) EVERYTIME I want to play the game I have to open it 2 times because the first time crashes when you hit one button after the logos (it just freezes the image and sound). As I say this happens EVERYTIME but when I force quit through SteamOS (it just never do anything until i do this) and hit play for the second time the game works flawslesly unless I wanna quit the game because the other problem I have EVERYTIME is that I can´t quit the game trhough the game menu. It just crashes again and I have to force quit. I´ve tried everything, change proton (7, 8, Experimental, Hotfix, GE), delete proton files, move the game from the SD to the SSD and viceversa, uninstall the game and delete all residual files and absolutely nothing fixes the problem. I´m not using Cryoutilities, not change UMA buffer on the BIOS or anything.
I´m rlly curious why I´m the only one in this situation because no one talks about this and on the forums no one is having this problems. Thx for the video.
That's weird, mine crashes when I choose "Quit to desktop", but never in any other instances
@@SantiagoSantiago Big thx for the response. Yes I know it is a rlly weird behaviour and I don´t know why the second boot works fine. As I say it is always the same behaviour. Steam support won´t help and as I say no one seems to experience that problem on ProtonDB, Reddit and Steam forums. At first I was hoping was a problem with a game update, but we are 3-4 patches since then and do the same. It is a bit anoying but hey at least I´m not alone with the quit problem that is something I suppose XD. And the problem reproduces in desktop mode as well so it doesn´t seem a problem with de SteamOS UI/Big picture
@@atzor3609 hello sir , I also have the same issue , and it also happens on my wife’s steam, when we first boot up, it always crashes after the intro during a loading, also I need to manually close the app otherwise it crashes when I want to quit any game .

Maybe this is a Steam Deck's driver issue? But then as I say why no one seems to be talking about this? Since the last October with this problem and I couldn't find any Steam Deck related post with this problems and of course 0 fixes.
One interesting thing for me is that i had NV crash on me a ton on the deck(not surprised) even after fast traveling once. Then i installed Fallout 3 and it suddenly became more stable, 10/10 would Bethesda again. Other than that it dips below 60 in the Strip i noticed but not unplayable.

Im assuming you have the lcd steamdeck when making this comment, but fallout 4 is one of those games that benefits from the faster ram in the Steamdeck OLED. I have seen MOSTLY 60fps on fallout 4 on the oled.
My fallout 3 progress keeps getting erased. I gave up on it.
You playing on the LCD SD right? Is there a big difference to the Oled SD
OLED has a way better screen, more battery life and slightly better performance, this is the LCD Deck :D
@@SantiagoSantiago Sorry Bro but The Fallout games react completely differently on the OLED. Fallout 3 dont run at lock 60 Frames on my OLED. New Vegas as well. This video is unfortunately only representative with the LCD model

Personally I can never go back to Base fallout. Once you have experience Capital Punishment a mod list that blends and allows one to travel between NV and F3 , there is no going back to the janky base game, ever.
Fallout 4 runs at 90fps for me on deck OLED high settings been enjoying dipping back into it

I get 90fps on 4 with everything set to highest on steam deck oled.
Did you edit the ini. Files? FO4's engine is designed to run at 60fps and has a cap at that so you'd have to edit the code to actually get those extra 30fps
@Josh-sf3zv no I just changed it on the options at the start if memory serves, I'll have to check....but that's what the overlay is saying and it's definitely faster and more responsive (if that makes sense) than on my series x...looks fantastic too!
@@igemm78 From what others are saying If you don't turn a setting off in the .ini file it reports to steams overlay the wrong info for framerate., meaning it's not really 90fps.

Fallout 3 crashes like there's no tomorrow with the default proton unless changed. I wouldn't call that "incredible". More like "playable". Still fun, would be better if they improve it.
