Racing a SCCA Time Trial event in my 1997 Viper GTS.
This was my final session of the day and I'm very happy with how much I improved and dropped my lap time over the course of the weekend, considering I am a complete and total rookie!
This video is short and sweet, with only my last 2 laps of the session.
Hope you enjoy the video, I certainly enjoyed racing this track!
Car modifications include:
M&M Headers
High flow cats, side exhaust, free flowing mufflers
Carbon fiber air filter housing, K&N filters

Thanks bud
Great driving on the sixth lap!
I doubt any of my driving was 'great' but I'm trying to improve! Lol

Thank you! Theres more where that came from, I will certainly have more videos this summer 🐍🐍
Subscribed saw you on instagram, sweet !!!!
Thanks a ton man I appreciate it!
Nice work on the sixth lap, your lines look really good. Looked like you held off on applying the brake in a couple corners and released the brakes a bit quicker in a couple others. Got a question for you, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being super confident, hows your overall confidence driving Road America?
Hey bud, thank you for all the tips! Are you local or familiar with Road America? Would love to get together and pick your brain.
I have very little experience on road courses, I spent a few years half a decade ago running circle track. Thats where my experience ends.
My confidence level is tricky. I'm fairly confident in my ability to follow the 'right' line and hit my marks, but my overall confidence in proper braking/trail braking is quite low I think. If I had to, I'd say I'm probably a 2.5 or 3. I know just enough to get into trouble!
You know what, matter of fact I'd have to say confidence is more like a 2.
I cannot say, with any certainty that I got every bit of speed out of a single corner. I have been trying to ease into it, and learn my limitations as well as the limit of the car. I study my in car cam between sessions to try and see where I could try and be slightly more aggressive, then I keep that in mind my next time out. Watching the video now, it sure seems like perhaps I could be much more aggressive. My objective for that weekend, being as it was my first time out in the car and my first time at Road America, was work on being smooth and consistent, and work on speed second. Learn, and don't make any expensive mistakes!
It's awesome that you have a good idea of your confidence level. For that being your first time being on a road course let alone Road America, you did great. Goviert is my personal account, you and I had a short chat on my cone dodger coach instagram page not too long ago.
I have lots of experience at Road America but without the g-forces via simulator. My sense of feel comes from 6 years of autocross which I have no doubt translates onto a track. Autocross may be a good option for you to hone your g-force senses while cornering/braking/tracking out etc. I'd love an opportunity to make it up to RA. Feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions. I've been a mopar guy all my life and now I'm transitioning to motorsports and sharing what i know in that realm.
By the way, working your way up with the speed is a great way go about it. Another quick tip, find a corner that has lots of run off room and doesn't look it will damage anything if you do go off. Use that corner to push the limits a bit more so when you do make a mistake it wont have any harsh consequences.
@@goviert we just registered to run the Ultimate Street Car Association event there in August, where we will compete in on track time trials as well as autocross and their stop and start challenges. I also run a simulator, it provides consequence free practice! And tires and fuel are unlimited.
Sweet! That'll be a fun event! If I can help in any way, let me know.
Hi
