I had the same problem at first when I put new tyres on my motorcycle. The combustion was great, but the effect was nought. I finally figured you have to aim the spray through the gap between the rim and the tyre. The spray has to be inside the tyre not on its outside flanks. It worked a treat after that. I had some bad experiences with this method so I finally bit the bullet and bought a 5-gallon bead seater blaster, that thing seats a bead like nobody's business.
Honestly. That’s all we got and we set any bead we need to do in our shop from semi to even lawnmowers that won’t seat with a quick blast of air from the tire machine.
Once you failed the first attempt with the second tire, you needed to flush the smoke out of it with a blow gun since the air from the valve stem wasn't even getting into the tire. You have to have some fresh air inside with the ether for it to burn. Smoke won't work.

Tractor tires, especially lawn tractors, tires are delivered deformed and often require a tube even though they are designed to be tubeless. This is a great way to get them done vs paying $20-30 tire at a shop. Which is almost the cost of a tire. When you need a tire on NOW, and not a day or two later, this is worth considering as long as you're not the average dummy.
I did a set of tires over the weekend. This is how I always seat the beads. I had a partial can of Pyroil starting fluid. I used it on the first 3 tires and it worked 1st time on each. The can was empty for the 4th tire so I used Supertech starting fluid. A can and a half later and many attempts I finally got it. It seemed like it didn't have the super fast flash burn of the pyroil.
If you put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten it, the bead will come close to the rim. Always remove the valve core and do not hook up a hose to the rim. Sometimes you can use an air nozzle to force the tire onto the bead if it has contact with the rim. You were spraying way too much ether in the tire. Support the wheel with a block so the tire drops down on the inner bead. That will direct the explosion upward. Until the o2 is depleted. Lying a wheel on a flat surface is unsafe.
I have done probably well over 1000. When the tire is so far away from that outer bead it cannot contain the fire. Set some blocks underneath to split the difference in gap. Then anytime it does not go you must air out inside of the tire of all the burnt gasses. Watch your video you spray way too much onto the sidewall of the tire also. I only spray about halfway around completely within the rim . I like your way of lighting.
Many times you can just put a heavy duty car ratchet strap around the tire and after a couple of clicks it will bow the bead out to make enough contact with the rim that you can just use air (no starting fluid) to initially get it to take. Just make sure that as soon as the air stops leaking between the rim and tire that you stop and then loosen the strap. This way it doesn't break and get ya. Then you can continue to fill and if you wd-40 the bead on the tire and rim then usually by the time you hit 40 psi or so it will pop on in my experience. I have used the starter fluid trick before but its definitely a bit dangerous. Especially if you have to hit it with a sledge to pop and the explosion transfers some energy back into the sledge.
Thanks for sharing this video. It works great without the air and I removed valve and sprayed inside tire and put torch tip inside tire to ignite it. Kaboom !
Use to do that all the time. Be ready and if it just burns kick the tire the surge of air will make it explode. The tire bead is below the stem not circulating the air to combust. Worked for me, we cannot do that anymore against company policy!
Yes there are safer ways but for small go kart tires ratchet straps don't always work. Small 12in or less tires the strap method doesn't work. This method worked first time all 4 tires just fine. I spent 2 hours trying to get 1 tire with a ratchet strap before I got fed up and brave enough to try this. This will always be my go to method now.
Second tire burned up oxygen is why wouldn't seat after first try. If first try unsuccessful, press tire with your foot all the way around and release, then try again.

Put the air on first before igniting it. Then after the tire has sufficient air in it let some back out then fill to appropriate level. I've had truck tires explode and do some serious damage by not doing that procedure.
DON'T DO THIS. First you dont know if pyrolosis of the rubber has started. It causes a self heating chemical reaction in the tyre that can cause combustion and explosive deflation even up to 48 hrs later. The fire does not go away because you can't see it any more and you are feeding it compressed air. At the least you are trapping volatile solvents in the tyre which will rot the liner and carcass from the inside out. Have a look at a tyre that is fitted like this and the liner always has a crazed cracking pattern. Solvents and oil destroy tyres. Don't mess with stored energy your number will come up eventually. Cert II Heavy Tyre Fitter.
This is a proper way to do it just not the way it’s being done here. 1. Way too much starter fluid 2. You need a 4lb sledgehammer So you only the fluid about half the tire light it most of the time it’ll just pop on if not hit the tire with the hammer works every time never messed up a tire this doing as mentioned
Yeah, uh, don't spray the ether ON the tire bead, especially several times. You burn a puddle of ether on a bead several times like this and - bead failure and boom.
Correct, sir. The ' fuel ' must of necessity, be INSIDE the tire - and rim for this method to ' werk '...er work. Good, job. i know a mechanic, uses propane.....i don't .......yet. What're you using ? WD 40 or something else ?....
here I am using "starer fluid of your choice" however, last time I had trouble setting a tire on a wide rim I put that mega unused "MAP sensor cleaner" to use. it worked good an I don't think it is as harsh to the rubber. WD may be even better. thanks n safety first LOL
This was OK when tires had 3-4 sidewall plies now it's 2 in most. Too much ether can damage them and cause failure. I've used ether in the past but not on today's rubber bands they call tires.

that's what i do. thought I invented it. Used it today for four wheeler tires
@@timothylongmore7325 Timothy its an old tyre fitters trick.
I’d be pissed if this was my new tire lol!!
Very nice!! thank you very much my friend!!!
crap! i thought its "bad setting" so i covered my ears to get ready for some EXPLOSION AAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!
Maybe if he didn't waste half the can spraying on the sidewall and more inside also what's with those little spurts
Premature sidewall failure...
New meaning of "burning rubber".
That was so cool 😂😂😂
You must get the propellant into the tire ....This shows how much was sprayed onto the outside of the tire ...
Put the air on first before igniting it. Then after the tire has sufficient air in it let some back out then fill to appropriate level. I've had truck tires explode and do some serious damage by not doing that procedure.
You'll melt the tire before you seat it bud!😊
this is gonna work, next try for sure 😆
I never pay to mount and balance my tire. I legit do this 1 to 2 times ever month or 2. Burn up alot of off road tires and atv tires.
Do you have to balance your tires if your mainly going off roading with them?
can this be done With a alcohol
Is it safety to drive it with this method too strached the tire
You need the fuel inside not the sidewall !
What kind of spay could be used here? Could you used the
Long-neck butane lighter here?
Cert II Heavy Tyre Fitter.
i'd be scared of that shit blowing up on me and worse case the metal rim flying at you
That many times?
May I ask why applied this method of fire ....reduces slippages.... REDUCES flaps...????
narrower tire onto a wider rim, many refer to this as tire stretching
This is a proper way to do it just not the way it’s being done here.
1. Way too much starter fluid
2. You need a 4lb sledgehammer
So you only the fluid about half the tire light it most of the time it’ll just pop on if not hit the tire with the hammer works every time never messed up a tire this doing as mentioned
Obviously his 1st attempt at this
Tires that actually fit the rims would have been much better. Those tires are obviously made for a rim half that width
Now you can dump the second tyres in some scrapyard.
not as hot as you think, still using it...
Russian Lifestyle 😁
Las llantas estan mojadas y debe ser un clama frio por eso la llanta implosiona en cuanto explota y se apaga el fuego
Took you enough times to get it done. You should have kicked the damn tire after you set it a blaze
I hit them with a sledge, I'm chicken 🐔
Is this guy kinda not doing it right because it didn't look "normal" to me? Or is this spot on??
A bead blaster is easier and better
Safer too.
@@8307c4 definitely
So he kept spraying the stuff on the outside. You need a space to spray the fluid in.
I seen a guy do this but on the ground, he kicked it and it blew and set right away
Yeah, uh, don't spray the ether ON the tire bead, especially several times. You burn a puddle of ether on a bead several times like this and - bead failure and boom.
Looks dangerous
Nice idea and pious work
Great technique, thanks for sharing!

Goodjoob,,,😇😇😇😇
That tire’s gonna be charcoal by the time you get it seated.
80% of the time, it works every time.
You have to spray it inside the tire...not on the sidewall!
Do this and eventually it will end in tears
I didn't see a tire explode

Fooling people eh
it did 0:08
At least it’s no surprise with UA-cam it’s all fake thumbnails and false titles
If you can get the tire on the rim by yourself.. just put it in the car and take it to a damn local tire shop. They will probably do that shit for free the safe way and it takes them 2 seconds.
No tire shop will do it for free.
@@marshapelo9830 yes they will. Did it for me, it's just air .. obviously don't take 4 tires expecting full service but just 1 and they probably will like they did mine. I even offered to pay but they didn't want anything
I tried this and my tire completely exploded. It was an explosion. I'm pretty sure it's possible for the fire to get sucked back into the air compressor...
What is that call
They do make a cheetah tool for this, but I assume this is for entertainment purposes.
Tractor tires and butane is way more fun
مرحبا ما اسم هذه المواد المشتعله في بلدكم
Is this good for you tire?
Yes
Why Certainly! Melting the rubber is perfectly fine! 😂
