I carry a set of magnetic lights and extension cord. In a Emegency it’s a fast way to fix lights on a trailer. The brakes don’t work but you have lights. To get to a safe place to work on lights or get parts.
So my truck has a 4 wire flat plug. I'm trying to wire a trailer light that has sequential turn signals and it has fire wires (a dedicated wire for the brakes). How do I wire that wire to the four wire plug? Make jumpers from the turn signals to the brake wire?
So im having an issue trying to fihure how to wire up my new setup! I have a 4 flat plug on my motorcycle but my new motorcycle camper has a 5 flat plug 4 led lights on the back, 2 on each side 1 for run brake and 1 for turn on each side. How do i make the 5 flat on thr trailer work with my existing 4 flat on the bike?
New subscriber here, my truck has a simple 4 wire pin connector. White, brown, yellow and green. My trailer connection has a 4 pin connector, BUT 5 wires, a white, yellow, green, brown with green stripe, and red. I question the brown with green stripe and red wires??? Can you help?
PS, every time I try to hook them up wiring white to white, brown to brown w/green stripe, yellow to yellow, green to green, and red from trailer I leave connected to nothing. It sounds like it blows the trailer pwr fuse in the fuse box under the hood. If I turn lights off, fuse resets, but wiring is not working.
I have 7 wires coming from my boat trailer. They were all hooked up to the boat trailer 4 way plug. When I went to replace the worn 4 way plug from my trailer it appears I have 3 grounds. Left and right tail lights work but can’t get the marker lights to work which is the brown wire.
On a 6 wire plug with the blue wire for the brakes the trailer brakes and you show us that you can use it without using that blue one . Wouldn’t it be better to pull that wire and that pin out if you’re not gonna use it?
Boat trailer has 5 flat. Just bought a new truck and the lights are not working. 7 round on truck. They sometimes come on but then goes out. Or they are very dim. Diagnose my issue. Worked fine on previous 2018. Not so much on 2025 truck. Checked truck with test light and have power at 7 round
My expensive truck has molded 4-flat and 7-pin with nothing hanging down. I tow both a boat trailer with surge brakes and 5-pin but I also tow an equipment trailer with electric brakes and 7-pin connector for which I have a controller under my dash. Adapter 7-pin to 5-pin is only way to go. Buy two ... always carry a spare.
What happens if you have a 4-flat coming off the trailer, but it has 5 wires? Green, Yellow, Brown, White and a Brown/Yellow (could be Brown/White) wire.
You have 2 brown wires. One for left side & one for right side tail lights. Very common in small utility trailer & boat trailers. You still have 4 functions.
When you have 2 brown wire on trailer but just 1 brown wire on connector do you just wrap both brown wires together? I did this but now both lights blink.
@@Savage_beast-bv3vo Not sure, I am not an expert, but I wrapped the brown wires together...then you have a separate green and a separate yellow. One for each side. I suggest you check your connection again, and maybe check to see if you don't have crossed wires. If it is a used trailer you purchased, the original owner may have wired it wrong. Also, make sure your connection are clean. The ground wire if very important too...check that it is grounded properly.
EZ Load boat trailer. Just hooked up to truck and right signal is good. Left signal turns on BOTH left and right signals. Truck lights check out fine, so it's a trailer problem. HELP?

If your ground wire is very short, it’s OK to extend it with another piece of wire equal in gauge, right?

yes you missed one thing, trailer has 5 wires, the connector has 4 wires. which 2 wires go together to one in connector?
