I am buying this guitar from Sweetwater minus the dark back, which is 1k more. I tried custom shop 58’s and 59’s both vos and Murphy labs. This one is the top one for me. It just is a beast.
Mine is light back. Double gold, light aged to. Went to get a M2M R9 ended with my Gold top. I couldn’t ignore fact that it was the best sounding Les Paul in the Shop.
@rickyanthony funny thing was that I was sure I was getting M2M model of R9 with quilted top that was only 3610 grams. Light weight. Great wood grain. Superb guitar. I was even dissing Murphy Lab for stealing best Custom Shop guitars and charging pretty penny for aging them. I was not a super fan of narrow frets on Les Paul's. But that all didn't matter. Tried mine and got literally shocked. I couldn't play two chords. Then I took normal R7 Custom Shop just to be sure is it this guitar or is it R7 thing. Well that R7 was dead weight. Did not resonate, was way darker and didn't have details like any of the other once I was trying. Mine is 3910 grams and is not as light weight as some other's but it was sounding do much better. Took her home fir my 50th B-day present 2 years ago. Soon after changed all wiring with proper wire and it is definitely one of the best Kes Paul's I have ever played including few old once. I have never played real 59 burst my self though.
Resonates.......you can really tell when the guitar is unplugged. The are audibly louder than USA Gibson Les Pauls.....maybe mumbo-jumbo....maybe not. Probably just better cuts of wood.
I have both a 2021 Murph Light Aged R7 like the one in this video and a 2018 LP Classic gold top and the Murph is a lot more resonant. Sounds leaps out of the Murph, it just kind of comes out of the Classic. That said I’ll take the Classic to a bar gig because while I can tell the difference, nobody else can tell or cares. For recording there is a noticeable difference however.
Pure Gold! One of your best videos Greg thanks 👏🏼

Great playing, great guitar!
Wow! That one is special!
Whatever new gold finish they’re using for the new custom shop models, it looks really good.

@rickyanthony well it was the first wave of those. It was 5.1K Euro here in Europe. Though in these two years they got more expensive reaching 6.1K.

Your the Geddy Lee of the guitar. So many notes.
NICE GUITAR! AND DO 1957 Ultra Heavy Aged and 1957 light aged have different tone?
all Gibsons from the Custom Shop sound different as the Custombuckers are handwound and pretty unique on every model
