Ron Gilbert actually only worked on the first 2 games and Return To Monkey Island. Without spoiling much, the third game retconned his story to make the events of the games "real" instead of Ron's "kid at pirate theme park daydreaming about having a pirate adventure and defeating his vision of his bully brother Chucky". This was confirmed by Ron in an interview as well. It is a decently sized rabbit hole, you can research it as well. This also explains a little more about why he was not involved in Legend Of The Monkey Island.
The advantage SoT has with following 3 is that since it is already deviated from the official cannon of the Monkey Island story (following Return) it means they can take more liberties with the story itself whilst still keeping the feel without fear of offending the original writers
@@captainblubber could have sworn there was a post credits scene in two that shows the female pirate ( can't remember name at momet waiting for him saying hope lechuck hasn't cast a spell on him if anything going with the it was all imaginary while having that post credits scene is very insulting to the players also lucas gave disney story scripts and they threw them in the garbage no carp he wouldn't have done them that way he would have respected his own universe
@@subjectnivleis7572 Ron Gilbert also confirmed that the post credits scene was to leave the potential for a third and final game he planned to make before he left LucasArts. However, the third game was going to confirm the "kid at theme park" twist, and it was going to be the real secret of Monkey Island. Again, massive rabbit hole. Thankfully, Ron's semi recent interview made a lot of things clear.
The "Red Head" on the ship was Kate Capsize, not Elaine - wrong hat for Elaine. The Mad Monkey is the "Headless Monkey" that you see in the Easter Egg for the first Pirate's Life Tall Tale so it may be getting resurrected in the Sea of the Damned as a ghost ship - somehow.
Glad you still found it! I'm still taking it slow with the channel but we might do a podcast talking about the first and second tall tale after playing the second. 🏴☠
Highly recommend watching play throughs (without commentary’s) of the first 3 monkey island games. That’s what I’ve been doing. A good one will choose the best lines. And be efficient. It’s a chill way to kick back and absorb the story. (Buy the games too if you want to support the developers).
I am curious to see just how unpopular hourglass needs to become before we see any improvement of the mode and of combat in general. As it is, its barely functional and seems to have a tiny population. It is speedrunning towards arena's fate.
Yeah, glad to hear it from others so it's not only our circle. I'm not even 100 and I just find myself drawn to do other stuff instead. It needs some more rewards or some special event weekend. And that's also the feedback we gave for Arena..... so...........
@@captainblubber I liked the suggestion of daily or weekly tasks for hourglass to encourage activity and offer some progress. We could even have a day of the week or time each day with a sort of "hourglass goldrush".
Bro that random ASMR was super triggering. Please please don’t do that. The sound of people drinking and gulping makes me instantly upset and angry. Otherwise, great podcast 😅
Thanks for listening to our ramblings again! We hoped you enjoyed! 😊🏴☠

Sorry for bad version of the clip but this what I think of his kiddie park ending

Thanks for the input Dawid! 🏴☠️👍🏼
I like that in the newest adventure madame Olivia mentions not only being with but missing pendragon
Same, I also liked that element.
I've been hoping for a new podcast episode for so long! I can't believe I missed this one until now.

Yeah, I got the second and last game ready to play but I might just do that! 👍🏼😄
I dont know about anyone else but I'd love to have stubble on our pirates faces be optional a simple but good quality of life improvement
Yeah, different stubble options would be great. 👍🏼
A new podcast epsiode! :D
We hope you enjoy! 😊🏴☠

@@captainblubberMine is full of hourglass players but yeah we need an anti cheat asap.
