    Your level of happiness is off the charts. You can hear the appreciation for what's happening in your voice. Good positioning and mending. Both are underrated. Your pop trained you right! Congrats

    Oh my, brings back memories of fishing those rivers, with fishing rising all around me and not able to get them to hit my fly. :D But you were able to seal the deal! Man there are so many times when the dam is pumping out water and the water is just filled with moss ... haha. Keep up the great vids!

    Your fly line looks so flexible! I just started fly fishing 2 weeks ago, got a redington Clearwater with line already on it. Seems stiffer than whatever you use, also found your channel because of your maxcatch-hardy 3wt shoot out…I dream of the day that I can cast 50 feet hah!

      Congrats!!! Thats a great starter setup! And new fly line does have some memory and can be a little stiffer. With a few hours on the water off the reel and put through the paces of casting, it should relax a bit. The fly line shown in this video is many years old and is probably in need of replacement - the tip (supposed to be floating) sinks and I have to regularly treat it with floatant. My struggle is, this line pairs SO well with this rod and now that fly line is discontinued. At some point I will have to try out a bunch of new lines and find a suitable one but for now, I'm trying to stretch a little more life out if it! And don't fret, you'll be making 50 feet casts in no time!

      @@HaleontheHunt I was mistaken, Orvis makes the Clearwater, mine is the redington crosswater…not that the name matters at this point …(I’ve been watching a lot of orvis videos!) I’m just wanting a good floating line that is easy to cast. Planning on doing a 3 day “survival” camp on the upper Provo river, bringing my fly fishing stuff, a blowgun, and some basic camping tools, knife, a saw, a hatchet, or axe, that kinda thing. Just need to figure out how to catch fish on a fly setup now hah!

    Are you fishing in the Appalachia?

    • @HaleontheHunt
      @HaleontheHunt  2 роки тому

      Yes - the most northern part of Appalachia in Southern New York.
