Thank you, Hale. Very helpful information that I can use to determine what brand of hook provides the best strength, durability, price and, of course, catch success. I just finished investigating the world of ‘threads’. ‘Hooks’ was second on my list, and your review has helped me a great deal. Cheers!
Nice to see a video from you again! 👍😃 For emergers i usually use TMC 212Y or the 2488 hooks, but Ahrex FW 521 is a great hook too and they are all in black steel. I agree with you......black hooks looks much better! 👍😉
Hooks are realy important, i have not fished those hooks, i have fished the tiemco 103bl for dry flies it worked wel, and for euro nymphing ussualy i fish with veniard osprey nymph hooks, they are good, sometimes i fish with a hanak 450bl jig hook they have a wide gap and look realy good on some patterns, but i lost some fish on them, gonna try them again but not to much..:-)what nice trout you caught especialy the last one!
Maybe you can try the new Mustad Heritage hooks and tell us what you think (they have a new high tech coating and the narrower Alpha point). We have had a difficult time finding any customer reviews on those. I read somewhere that Mustad is phasing out the Signature series in favor of these new hooks.
And more to come! Next video is filmed, I'm just working through the editing. And the next video after that is planned and prepped for (all gear to be tested has been purchased) and will film soon!
Hello! If you were asking about the fish - they disappear from me more often than I'd like to admit. :D If you're talking about videos from me on youtube, I'm trying to make time to get more videos out! Next video is all filmed, I'm just working on the editing.

The tug is the drug haha 🤙🏽🎣
Woah, stone river outfitters hat. That’s awesome
I love those guys 💛 I spend lots of money there 😂😂
You should check out Firehole hooks, they come in a black finish and are barbless. The 317, 718, and 419 are the main ones I use for tying.
Oooooo I'll have to check them out
Awesome video! Nothing like fly fishing. Great music. I had to find it listen to it!
Awesome, thank you so much!
I favor wide gape hooks as they never cause any damage to the gills or eyes of the fish. They work well with bass lures also .
