Coming back to this video after a year and a half with my flex. I love the thing so much. I have ridden it over 500 miles to and from classes at my university. I ended up buying cloud wheels for it which improved my experience even further. This video sold me on this board and it lived up to all of the hype. Great product for a great price.
@@aaronzhuo352 i got the 105mm wheels. overall they have a smoother ride and handle wet surfaces a little better than standard wheels and i also perfer the way they look. overall, they just gave me a bit more confidence in the board.
Regarding “brakes too soft at first”, at 9:22 kind of sounds like your belts were slipping? Not sure from the video. I had a different brake issue but supposedly they’ve fixed that in a firmware update. Haven’t tried yet.
Would love if you would do a hub vs belt drive in acceleration, braking, speed, and battery consumption. Love the videos, your awesome and keep it up!!
Here is some of my own data on Exway Flex with riot belt drive assembly, 120mm cloud wheels on it. I weigh 216 lbs with gear on. I got 11.2 miles today, That’s only 56% of the advertised range. I had remote set on 3rd gear the whole way(I have turbo turned off in Exway app). This was a leisurely, carvy ride. Average speed was 15.4mph, top speed 26.4mph. I have hit 30mph on flat road numerous times on previous rides. If I go full throttle with or without turbo turned on, I only get about 8 miles of range, which is only 40% of advertised range. Speed and range recorded with Strava app and Speedmeter app.
I just got one because of your review. I watch other channels and the reason I went with your decision is you know how to shred a board. It's my first eBoard I'm 62 years young😎💪
I got 19 miles today on my exway flex! The bike path was relatively flat with some short but big inclines along the way. Was crusing on gear 4, going about 14-15mph (25kph) on average. Started at 100%, ended at 5% the board was still moving but not much faster than 5-8 mph. I weigh 150lbs, and there was a lot of wind drag in addition
@@hpbryan awesome thanks! I think the flex will be real nice for my 5 miles commute to work (10 miles each way means I could do the whole day on one charge). Think I want that stealth mode though, but it's nice that I can always upgrade later.
@@shenvega6688 No problem! 10 Miles is definitely do-able in the flex for sure. The belt drive is noticeably louder from my old hub motor exway (i had the first exway model 2 years ago)
I did the same tests. 100% the same delayed and weak braking initially when at speed - multiple times a car pulled in front of me and I had to jump off as it wouldn't stop. Laggy acceleration on take off also. 10.5 miles range (at 100kg) so pretty consistent with yours.
@@RonnieSarmiento I like the deck, the flex is nice (although my feet are a little big for the concave). Being lightweight is good, and I like the stand-by type mode + we all know it's a good price. The responsiveness of throttle and brake is just too big of a problem to overlook, I think it's dangerous to commute on. It also can't manage hills with my weight.
Hey Ronnie great review. Your videos are helping me narrow down which brand is going to be my first E board. Also just want to mention forged and precision trucks are two different ways of manufacturing. These are forged with CNC finishing (probably the bushing seat, pivot, and axles). Bear trucks have a precision version $$$$ and also a forged version $$ which they call Bear 'Kodiaks". Paris 'Savant' and Sabre also make a forged truck.
The unibody design was what captured my attention, and also my source of apprehension. I had concerns with the internals if they were to flex, cost of upgrading parts, battery limitations, longevity. This seems more modular and easier to replace/mod parts.
How is the durability/build quality of the outer enclosure? Why do you prefer the riot over the hub drive? Also, can you use the hub drrive version as a normal board to get home if the battery dies?
Would u say that there's kind of a breaking in process to the board? My dad kind of hopped on it (he's around 190) and it made an unnerving crack sound if you know what I'm saying. Just want to make sure it's not anything major. Thanks!

Nice video. The clip of the end of your range test is just a black screen. Also, seems like the Meepo V3 is a close alternative. Especially for sub $500. It’s hub motor and not quite as flexy, but has a much higher top speed and much longer battery range.
Hey Ronnie, I just bought the flex from exway and I used both your discount code and Daniel Kwan's for a total $40usd off, thanks for that mate. I'm a middle aged Aussie bloke that only dabbled in skate boarding when I was younger and wanted to get into esk8ing because both my daughters ride analogue longboards XD and wanted to join their hobby...but faster.
I’m looking at buying my first eskate and can’t decide between the flex and x1 pro. I have only a little skating experience (enough to be relatively comfortable on a standard skateboard) but I’m not sure if I’d be better off with a flexi deck or stiff deck. Id go with the flex. it has a modular design that if you ever feel you want to change to a different deck it should be fairly easy to fit everything on a different stiffer deck with minimal modifications. With the x1 your kinda stuck with the one deck how it is. Just some food for thought.
The range stated is usually the range of mode 2 & not the top one. Lower speed & acceleration would still give you a good ride while maximizing the range.

Between the Exway flex and the WowGo 3X, which one has the most torque/ acceleration ? I dont care much for top speed, but i like punchy acceleration and hill climbing capability.
They are both about the same. I think the wowgo might even be better from 0-100 but then exway surpasses by the 200m mark. But either way they are both right on par with each other
Why there's no UA-camr comparing X1 pro and Flex? It's $100 difference now. Which one should I choose? Is X1 pro smooth enough? Money is not a concern.
Cause it’s basically the same thing. We have videos covering each. If you watch you can see that the main differences is the the flex, battery, and new trucks.
I know this was almost a year ago but I'm trying to decide between this and the zealot s I'm about 115 pounds (a walking stick lol) and most important things to me are range and hill climbing (I live in an area with lots of hills) I'm really leaning towards the flex but am worried about the range how far do you think I could go on it and which one should I get
I mean the trucks are great and all but as soon as you said I don't feel a difference I was like what's the point then, and just knowing they're better doesn't cut it for me.
Thanks for your review. Ive got the x1 pro and was looking for something else (had the pro since launch), but might skip this flex version and just buy a riot for my x1 pro instead.
This would be my first eboard but what would you recommend between this and the X1 pro? The exway x1 pro is out of stock for shipping by Air so I'm wondering if it would be better to wait on it, order it for shipping by Sea or just order the Flex which is in stock for fast shipping. Would appreciate your opinion.
Good video. I have a question what was the battery sag like. At what percentage did you notice a significant drop in performance? Things that stand out ▶️perceived value for the price ▶️people keep emphasizing brakes and their performance
This review>>> Loved it man. Whats that cool 360 camera you use? It makes for super clean views on your ride! I think I'm gonna get this one...was between this and the wowgo3
I wonder if exway will ask about how much carving you’re doing? It seams to me the most drain on the battery witch will dramatically drop your total trip distance.
I love belt drives a lot, but I have to give a slight edge to hubs for their simplicity especially when it comes to maintenance. Let’s call it a 55% leaning towards hub, 45% towards belts. If belts never broke I’d be on it all the way.
I wonder what the performance benefits are to go with this battery/ESC setup vs a flat pack style setup similar to the AE or Apsu board setup on a similar style flex deck.

Is it better then meepo v2, v3
Thanks for your review. Ive got the x1 pro and was looking for something else (had the pro since launch), but might skip this flex version and just buy a riot for my x1 pro instead.
hi, can you ride this board as classic longboard with dead battery?
How wide is the deck at the widest point?
This would be my first eboard but what would you recommend between this and the X1 pro? The exway x1 pro is out of stock for shipping by Air so I'm wondering if it would be better to wait on it, order it for shipping by Sea or just order the Flex which is in stock for fast shipping. Would appreciate your opinion.
Wich do you prefer of the x1 pro riot vs flex riot ?
Good video. I have a question what was the battery sag like. At what percentage did you notice a significant drop in performance?
Things that stand out
▶️perceived value for the price
▶️people keep emphasizing brakes and their performance
drops in performance came at around 15% for me. Depending on what mode you ride in, you'll probably be good up until the last 20%
Ronnie Sarmiento appreciate it.
What makes the belt better than the hub on this board?
This review>>>
Loved it man. Whats that cool 360 camera you use? It makes for super clean views on your ride! I think I'm gonna get this one...was between this and the wowgo3
Those roads look pristine. Where is this?
Northern VA
This is now $500 on Amazon. Would say, with everything available today, that this board is still worth the price? Thank you.
What paths do you shoot your videos in, I’m in the dmv area and I want a place to let loose on my board and it’s really nice out now
there are soo many bike paths around the dmv area to choose from
I just bought the Pro Riot. Did I made a mistake not waiting for this beast?
only if not having flex is the end of the wolrd to you
@@RonnieSarmiento nah. entry level. I'm sticking with the PRO label bruh lol
I wonder if exway will ask about how much carving you’re doing? It seams to me the most drain on the battery witch will dramatically drop your total trip distance.
This normal I amount I guess, I don’t count. Either way everyone has been averaging around the range I get.
Does the exway Canada work? For me to like pre order it?
I just ordered it, but quick question. Did you use the standard pre-installed bushings or install your own?
He had a pre-production model with different bushings, the official bushings should be completely fine :)
Is it waterproof?
Backfire G3 or Exway flex (both HUB). Looking for 7km work commute each way. Im 90kg. What do you think is better with some pros cons. Cheers
One is flexier with options for belt/hub and ones cheaper but tbh both are really good
Serious question. As a man with your electric skateboarding experience do you prefer hub motors or belt driven?
I love belt drives a lot, but I have to give a slight edge to hubs for their simplicity especially when it comes to maintenance. Let’s call it a 55% leaning towards hub, 45% towards belts. If belts never broke I’d be on it all the way.
@@RonnieSarmiento Nice. Thanks bro
Sir this Board can ride 18km Range?
my
Weight: 70kg
Flat Road
Average Speed: 20-30kph
I wonder what the performance benefits are to go with this battery/ESC setup vs a flat pack style setup similar to the AE or Apsu board setup on a similar style flex deck.
J D much larger cells and way less battery sag.
i would love to see an AT version of the flex
can you make Exway Flex vs WowGo 3X
i dont have a 3x so, no?
@@RonnieSarmiento oh wait, i thought you have...if you someday have it, try it one of the best budget belts board
