This is a phenominal way to get that fresh meat out of the fridge and make it shelf-stable. I am looking forward to raising our own rabbits (soon-ish) so we can do this, too! The walk through the growing things is delightful, too - That calendula bloom is big and beautiful! Worth the wait, for certain! And delighted how much our member group is growing - YAY!
Great video, Heather! I love how approachable having rabbits are and how versatile their meat is too. Your dinner looked so delicious! Rabbit is definitely on my bucket list for when I have a homestead! Always love seeing the goats, Feral's hairdo makes me giggle every time. So excited to see the upcoming greenhouse transformation! 💚🐇🔔🐰💚
Raising rabbits for meat has many benefits. Your garden will thank you. They taste great. They're easy and inexpensive to keep...not to mention how cute the babies are.
I'm sure I have committed before but I just love rewatching videos that I can see and learn what I might of forgotten. Thank you Heather for your time to bring wonderful contents. Thank you for sharing. Till next time God Bless.
I love watching home canning videos! I planted calendula last year, and now it is coming up everywhere. We are planning to start meat rabbits and begin our own goat herd in the next year. 🐐 Thank you again for the wonderful video ❤
Love the reading of God's word I'm a Christian so that's a plus I love your show cuz it's just phenomenal vegetables is canning it's all those I also watch this girl is a Vogue from Turkey they don't say nothing but she all she does is cook and she's not like over 2 million viewers it's unreal but anyhow thank you love you all😊😮🎉❤
Thanks for another great video! I appreciate you showing us how easy it is to can rabbit! Your supper looked so delicious! Love watching the goats, they are so beautiful, fun and loving!!
Thank you for mentioning you put a splash of vinegar in the canner. I just did my 1st ever pressure canning experience. We did roosters. The jars came out with a white haze on the outside. I will try the vinegar next time!
Awesome video Heather, dinner looks delicious. Can't wait to start Canning rabbits This fall. Thanks again for Every Video you make, It helps my wife and I to learn as much as we can.
Great video. I’m in the Australian suburbs of Melbourne. I keep meat rabbits and chickens for eggs. I grow veggies, fruit and medicinal herbs. I find your videos very inspiring. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. Tell Levi thanks for scripture reading. I love to debone our rabbits and cut in cubes. I keep the bones to add to chicken bones for bone broth. Love your method too. Really enjoyed spending this time with you. God bless
Good morning Heather and family. I absolutely love your videos! I am learning so much. It feels like it's been forever since I've been able to watch a UA-cam video of yours so I am going to watch as many as I can, to catch up lol. It is extremely humid here in Texas with expected storms. Taking advantage of creating more Gardens and expanding other Gardens. It's taking a lot of time and I'm not as young as I used to be LOL and my back's been acting up hahaha but it's all good. Also set up a rather large Quail cage outside and they are loving it. Starting a second round of seeds started. That rabbit stew looks absolutely fantastic! Now I have to clean up and organize my garage which is air conditioned and start scouting for a pair of meat rabbits... I laughed so hard when I saw feral and his hairdo! He is so stinking cute I would love to have a couple of babies of his in the future. Heather did you have something to do with his hairdo? Hahaha what was that natural? Oh my goodness so cute I can't stop laughing
His hair is awesome! Heather this might be a crazy request but could you do a video on what y'all keep in your tornado shelter during tornado season? And have y'all ever had to stay in your tornado shelter the entire night? I've heard of a few people who had.... being that we're now entering into tornado season, it would be a good reminder for many. Just thought I'd ask
Awesome video Heather. My dad use to cook and make rabbit stew and I loved it. I haven't had it for long time now. Great that you got plenty of food now. I am getting better day by day. It is too slow for my liking. I am up and about. I did have another fall the other day.Big bruce on the side of my back. My husband is helping around the house more. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Thank you for sharing, I will be trying this canning method. Bc with having grow outs every month we will need space for them all. Till next time God Bless.
This is a great video!! I raise rabbits and am working to get where I can process rabbits. I raise Rex and new Zealands. I love how healthy and delicious rabbit meat is. And it is a great way to feed your family. Ty for this video!! ❤
All of our roosters have been very docile, however, we have Rainbow Eggers on order. They'll be a straight run, so we'll see what kind of roosters we get out of it. A couple of years ago I tried canning 1 rabbit to see how it went, but the jar broke so I haven't tried it. I like how pressure canning can turn a tough egg layer into tender meat. Thanks for sharing.
That rabbit meat for supper looked so luscious & tender!! Your jars of rabbit looked wonderful I'm canning ham. My daughter found cured hams in her area on sale for $1.28/#. We couldn't pass that up!! Blessings!😊
I have canned the ground before (not on video) and I took a video or 2 on putting the goat legs and shoulders in the freezer I think. I'll see if I can locate where I hid that lol!
7:00 “who cares that it’s messy when there’s so much going on”. Hahaha. Spot on! (We’ve just found out that a neighbor is calling our homestead ‘the scrap pile’. It is not a very nice neighbor. 😉 - Not that our place is very pristine. But he takes it a bit too far! Of course he doesn’t say it to our faces though. Hahaha. 🙄🤭 Anyway. I was wondering if I’d missed the video in your goats series where you take apart (is that the correct expression? English is not my native tongue 😅) a goat. We’ve tried with our boergoat but got very tied up in a lot of silver skin. Was wondering if there are easier methods that we’ve missed. 🤔 Anyway. Sorry if im asking something that is there but I couldn’t find it. If it’s not there yet and you manage someday to make a video about that: that would be awesome! For now: thanks for this one. And have a great weekend!
We have not done a full comprehensive butchery video on goats yet! We have goals to do that this fall. In my experience the silver skin roasts up well and dissolves so you don't have to be picky
I’ve never had a rooster be aggressive towards me, but every EE or Ameraucana roo I’ve ever had was a super aggressive breeder and I don’t like that at all.
Heather I'm trying to find the video you did on cleaning your milk machine, to see what products you used. Can you please tell me the title of it? Thank you
Yes! Easteregger roosters are Mean!! We were given one and in 2 weeks he moved to my dads house. Lol My dad took him bc he loves Americunas and wanted to hatch some. Our Golden Wyandotte rooster is quite ornery as well…he might be going into stew. Lol
I need to do this with my rabbit meat! Thanks so much for the ideas. I am about to build more rabbit tractors (4 total) so we won’t have freezer space either. 😂
Try putting down beneficial nematodes in barn or other areas where the flies congregate. We have them every year pretty bad, but that has helped in the past. Our neighbor keeps cattle and his barn is near our house so it's a little futile. We keep out fly papers inside and have the hanging fly traps outside in summer.
One of our best roosters was a maran and one of our worst was a maran! I agree, rabbit is a wonderful meat & I would rather process a rabbit over a chicken any day!!
@@SageandStoneHomestead I have a 80’ x 50’ garden. I use my chicken run to use as my compost pile currently. I like the idea of being able to immediately be able to add their poo to the garden.
You know what would be better than fried asparagus with rabbit? Fried okra! Looks delicious!! Too bad you couldn't sell any of your goat meat, I would love to try it😊 Please keep up these videos, they are so relaxing❤❤
I have a EE Roo and he is very skittish towards people but over mates my gals like crazy, maybe that’s his aggressive side ? Hoping someone off market is looking to add EE genes to their flock, I have to narrow down the number of roosters I have. Also! Barred rocks roosters in my experience are aggressive too.
@@SageandStoneHomesteadso glad you brought that up, the EE hens are pretty docile so I assumed the same for the roos but definitely taking that into consideration for seeing who is needing to be dealt with. Either try to give him away or learn to harvest my first chicken (on the 5 year plan anyway but still a little nervous/scared)
“Who cares about appearances when you have so much going on” 😭🖤🙌🏼
