I love Malabar Spinach. It comes back every year for me in norther NJ. I collect the purple seed clusters for my neighbor. She dies sheep wool with it. Makes an awesome purple color. I pick mostly the leaves all summer and fall and blanch it and then freeze in quart size bags for use all winter.
Buck sterility; older bucks tend to take longer than younger ones to come back to fertility in the fall. I used to keep back a young buck from one of my last spring litters so that they would be just hitting 6 months when I wanted to breed in the fall and they were generally quite fertile so they would get all the girls for the first go round and then I would use my older boys later when it had cooled off more.
Hello Heather, lovey video dinner looked good. I have four does Rabbits this coming week on the 16-17th. Thank you for sharing till next time God Bless.
Adorable kitties, goaties, garden, and family - I'd call that a well-rounded video! I hope the peas pop out with blooms quickly for you. I think the peas we had that issue with might have been sugar snaps, but the advice was the same from "old timers": If a row/bed is "too high" in nitrogen (for peas and beans), stressing the plants by cutting them back usually causes them to push out blooms in self-preservation. Some may try to bush out more (like many other plants when you trim the tops out of them)... And how funny near the end with Mozzy growling about the food and Cheddar putting his paw on the top of the bowl, as if he was claiming the whole thing. LOL
Aren't the kitties so funny?! It almost looks like the peas are pushing out extra foliage, wondering if I should put phosphorus on them. The Broccoli in that bed are heading up (all of them at this point) so that's good!
Good morning Heather! I I just rebreed 3 of my does. I am dealing with the same things as you: the last breeding was coming off high temps, one of my does is very senior, and one is very thick. Hoping for more success for both of us this time! I’ve also found that sometimes a doe just doesn’t like the choice of her ‘date’. I have one who won’t lift for most of my bucks but always lifts for one particular guy. 🤷🏻♀️ The greenhouse looks great!
Yes I may need to switch up who breeds whom, problem is I can't sell breeding stock If I switch them around too much. Definitely would rather get SOMETHING from them though vs nothing!
Great video! I'm very impressed with the job Levi did boning out those goat ribs!! That's a tedious job & he did it well!! 😊 Your bone broth is beautiful! God bless!
Love Malibar spinach! Need to grow it again. We like volunteers but we also like certain wild edibles like chicory, goose foot, and purselain (sp). We sauté Swiss chard or sweet potato leaves. Yesterday I canned 20 pints of venison burger and today I’m finishing blackberry seedless jam. Still busy with harvest. What a blessing!
Love seeing all the things going on on your homestead! That little kitty at the end swatting at his brother "No I am not sharing with you today!" To funny
How many barn kitties do you have? And seeing your kids be grateful and respectful of where their food comes from speaks volumes about you and Levi as parents😊
Thanks for this video with a little of everything!..We had 20° the smorning here in western Pa with a heavy heavy frost so thank goodness I covered my strawberries and herbs with straw yesterday!❤
Your mushroom shorts are so cute! I just spotted them when you were making bread lol. You know me, mushroom anything lol. Another great video. That rye pasture is so green!
Do love seeing 'all the things'! I think knowing 'who' it is, is tons better than wondering 'what' is in it like what comes from the store these days! Hahahaha. So many wonderful moments, both dinners sounded/looked delicious. I always learn something every video, never would have thought to cook down spinach like that and combine it with rice. Also, love how what you add to the broth (or don't add) can impact final flavor and should be considered for desired outcome. Kitties, new and older, all being cute. Hope this second breeding of the rabbits takes, and also hope the peas blossom! I know it's B-Doe, C-Doe, but when you say it out loud it makes me think of Minions talking. 💚🐈💚 P.S. Kudos on tossing those feed bags out right away, haha. I know they can sometimes build up. P.P.S. Jack and Punt stones. 💚
YES I want both genders out of him and Nefarious having paired them with our Woodland Haven Lamanchas! Funny I thought this whole time that Clover and Elsa shared Atlas as a sire! I now see (and remember) that Clover is Black Tie Affair! Ooooh. Okay so the pairings are less related than I thought! Good!
I went through the canning process on fresh mushrooms and had a lot of lovely stock leftover! Here is the video I did on it: ua-cam.com/video/oYiRnZtJcPA/v-deo.html
Awesome video!! Your finished bone broth looks delicious!! I can imagine having a hot cup, on a cold day when the sniffles have come calling to be just what the doctor ordered! I always get a chuckle at how the bucks "dismount". 😂 On the topic of the Zinc, Arisha at HNDF actually gave her buck with the Zinc deficiency a Zinc tablet. I'm pretty sure it was just regular Zinc like DG, Wal-Mart or any store carries in the vitamin section. As I remember he ate it out of her hand one time daily. The treatment sure made a difference in her buck's health. He was actually losing hair before she realized the loose minerals were not supplying him enough Zinc. If your buck refuses the Zinc supplement you might try the tablets. Thanks for a sharing your days with us!! Stay safe!!🙏❤🇺🇸
HI Heather..I didn't catch the name of the mineral supplement you gave the Bucks..I have a Ruff looking Buck he is huge and I'm old so not able to copper Bolus... I've tried Fig Newton..at first he would take them but now he has wised up and Said I'm not stupid No thanks..Maybe your Minerals will help him..
He could need several minerals so a good balanced loose mineral would be best for him, does he have access to loose mineral? I gave my boys powdered zinc.
I gave him a Cobalt block like you did for your girls..and a Goat mineral block last week..he's been biting at it..I give him Balanced Goat Pellets with Ammonium chloride and I add Boss and Kelp. He is Huge..I have to hire a hoof trimmer for help handling him. They roll him to trim him and I give shots then Also..He is they Biggest Buck they trim..Rut has been long and hard for him..I haven't used him much this year I kept 16 of his Daughters last year..
Thank you for the comment on 'simply is best!' I want you to know how encouraging you are! All this time, I've been saying I can't, I don't have enough room, I didn't grow up that way, I have no knowledge, ect. Guess what, I'm turning that all around, and I want to give you a big thank you. You've helped in so many ways, and still are! We are moving soon, I'm busting out of my shell with the new house. My first step in the kitchen is to try making bread! Have a huge backyard to continue with summer garden, as well. Until I master that, then I will try a fall garden. Also, I'm adding meat rabbits. I feel I've done enough research to dive in. Have an awesome landlord for living in town, which helps. If you have any helpful pointers, please let me know. More rabbit videos would definitely be very helpful, especially with the hopper popper!
Yay Congrats!!! Thank you so much, providing encouragement is our #1 goal ♥ The video I have on the hopper popper is the best I can do, there really is nothing else to show on the subject because it's just the same thing over and over on processing day. ♥
I commented my rabbits weren't having babies after 3 rounds of breeding on your last video but.... one female had 4 bunnies at 35 day! Only 2 lived though. But atlas I know it's not my male!
I'm not sure how I came across your channel, but I sure am glad I did!! I have been really enjoying the videos I have seen so far. I love how real you are! I haven't ever processed my own goats or lambs, but it is definitely in the plans for the future. (right now I sell my male lambs and bucklings) My son is starting to understand that meat comes from the animals we raise. (he has/had some delays so I haven't pushed the issue)
Punt was a 13 year old black max that I had her whole life, and you probably know the Orange garden kitty Jack. Both were hit by a car, two different years. We still have Colby and Monty, and the two new garden kittens are Cheddar and Mozzy. :)
The broken red rabbit that I put the camera in the cage with is a retired doe :) We can't keep them all but Fluffles is an original rabbit and is 4 years old and retired now :)
We could! Very often I have enough to deal with that running it through the animals is the best way to keep the nutrients of things like that on-farm :)
I was gifted some beef and some pork bones yesterday. They pressure cooked about 18 hours and I just finished making soup base to dehydrate. Yum!
Yum I love that!!
OH I wondered if the purple dye would stay in fur! I need to try that!
My kids also ask who we are eating! haha glad its not just mine!
It's definitely not just yours, it's a common dinner table conversation with farm kids haha
Buck sterility; older bucks tend to take longer than younger ones to come back to fertility in the fall. Thank you for confirming my suspicions with him!! Fingers crossed this breeding sticks, otherwise that rex is a yearling and he'll do fine :)
Hello Heather, lovey video dinner looked good. I have four does Rabbits this coming week on the 16-17th. Thank you for sharing till next time God Bless.
Yay Fingers crossed for healthy kindling!!
I love your videos, Heather. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Thanks for watching! ♥️

Beautiful pasture growth too.
Thank you! It's pouring buckets right now and I'm going to pull them off again today to let it keep growing. The girls loved their time on it!
Good morning Heather!

Sorry for the edits. My touch screen and fingers aren’t cooperating.

That all sounds so fabulous! Congrats on putting a lot away! ♥
Wonderful video Heather. Never a dull moment on the homestead. I am so proud of you and I really enjoy watching your journey. 💜👍💜 Aunt Beth
Thank you so much!! ♥♥
Love seeing all the things going on on your homestead! That little kitty at the end swatting at his brother "No I am not sharing with you today!" To funny
Right?! So funny, I just love them ♥
That goat mount is pretty cool!! We name all of our animals and treat them all equally despite knowing which ones are destined for the freezer.
How many barn kitties do you have? And seeing your kids be grateful and respectful of where their food comes from speaks volumes about you and Levi as parents😊
Thank you! We have 4 barn kitties. Mozzy, cheddar, Monty and Colby :)
Thanks for this video with a little of everything!..We had 20° the smorning here in western Pa with a heavy heavy frost so thank goodness I covered my strawberries and herbs with straw yesterday!❤
Oh wow!! So different than here!
Heather your broth is beautiful! Your videos are delightful 😊
Thank you so much!
Your mushroom shorts are so cute! I just spotted them when you were making bread lol. You know me, mushroom anything lol. Another great video. That rye pasture is so green!
Thanks!! Duluth Trading had a sale!
You have an amazing farm. Thank you so much for sharing a lovely video.🥰
Everything is looking great. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for watching!
Sweet ending 😊
Really enjoyed this video! Was just a lovely mish mash of everything and just so relaxing. Lovely work heather. Girls look great!
Thanks so much!! ♥♥
Great video, Heather! Love the pile of topics. You are a hard worker!
Thanks so much! ♥

THANKS LOL the feed bag thing can turn into a big mountain so I'm trying to stay in the habit, lol!! ♥
Adore you!! Great video...loved the combo of all the different things you get up to.
Thank you so much!!
Such cute little kittens. Great video!!!
Thank you! 😊
Enjoyed this video very much🎉😂but then I deeply enjoy EVERY VIDEO ❤☕☕☕☕😘
Thanks so much Carolyn! Time for me to make my coffee, I haven't had any yet! :)
Every time you talk about/show that spinach, it tickles my brain. It’s probably time to do something about that. 🥰
What a lovely informative video.
Thank you!
Mooche looks so. Handsome. (Fingers crossed for pink from him)

How do you make your mushroom broth? I dry mushrooms a lot and powder some. I am just curious, it sounds really good.
I went through the canning process on fresh mushrooms and had a lot of lovely stock leftover! Here is the video I did on it: ua-cam.com/video/oYiRnZtJcPA/v-deo.html

I will have to see if I can find her video on it. I do know zinc blocks copper absorption so there has to be a balance
Great video!

WOW! Congrats!! Bumpy start but you know they are alright!
Great Trick....And is it Cloe? ...Nope.
That Broccoli is looking fantastic.
Sweet Winnie.
Thanks!! We are done with super warm temps so the broccoli should continue to cooperate!
Oh wow. I’ve never seen fresh oregano. ❤❤❤
It's a gorgeous plant!
I’m going to go to your house for dinner one of these days. lol. Sounds so good. ❤❤❤
Pull up a chair! ♥
I grew king tuts this year. I didn’t get much but enough that I left them alone
Hmm I should research some more to see if they ate a lower yield pea
❤❤❤
Did you peel that squash? I was gifts 2 that look like that, but I have never used any.
Nope! We scooped seeds out of the middle but the skin is tender especially when cooked.
I'm not sure how I came across your channel, but I sure am glad I did!! I have been really enjoying the videos I have seen so far. I love how real you are! Oh my goodness! Heather what happen to the other kittens!! I was wondering 🤔. I missed it.
Punt was a 13 year old black max that I had her whole life, and you probably know the Orange garden kitty Jack. Both were hit by a car, two different years. We still have Colby and Monty, and the two new garden kittens are Cheddar and Mozzy. :)
5:28 Those are huge 😮
At that size there are some seeds to scoop out of the middle!
Question ❓ does hitting the thumbs up on the people who comment does that help your algorithm❤on Utube
Yes it certainly does! Any type of engagement with the video and comments helps. I appreciate you!
Have you included making mushroom broth on a video before? I would love to can some. It’s right next to onion broth on my canning To Do list. =)
Here is the video on how I made the broth! ua-cam.com/video/oYiRnZtJcPA/v-deo.html I canned it in Quarts for 25 min after simmering the mushrooms ♥
Do you process your older rabbits or do you ever retire any?
The broken red rabbit that I put the camera in the cage with is a retired doe :) We can't keep them all but Fluffles is an original rabbit and is 4 years old and retired now :)
What does your quail set up look like? Not a lot of people make content on them for some reason and idk why
At what age do you butcher your goats?
This depends on many factors. We have butchered them anywhere from 4 months old to 3 years.
People here stir fry pea tips. You could eat them.
We could! Very often I have enough to deal with that running it through the animals is the best way to keep the nutrients of things like that on-farm :)
@ I know. They looked so lovely that I was thinking of the cost at the store! Your family will get the benefits in the eggs. 😊
What kind of rabbits get to 5 pounds in that short of time?
