Thanks H R L fantastic footage .ive watched all your uploads and I’ve got to say what a fantastic jockey Pat Eddery was ,I’ve underrated him for years I thought he was a good jockey I now know he was right out of the top draw
Simple economics and the ridiculous prize money on offer in British racing then meant Mr Sangster had no choice other than to reduce massively his involvement. A true sportsman a man of real class.
I honestly think El Gran Senor would have been an all time great if it wasn't for injury. Won the greatest 2000 guineas in history and should have won the Derby.

You might have thought so. Golden fleece was awesome. But he was a 12f horse, maybe 10f too. But El Gran Senor won the great 2000 Guineas, and was a brilliant 12f horse. So his Versatility probably gives him the edge. And the Senor beat superior horses. But Golden fleece was imperious at 12f and they never got to the bottom of him.

@@beddau4ever i remember sitting in the Tack Room in Ballydoyle one day in the Autumn of 85 with Johnny Brabson, Jerry Gallagher, Tom O‘Gorman and Stony Burke and talking about old times. Loved those times in racing. A must read is the book about Robert Sangster titled HORSETRADER. 👍

Would have thought Golden Fleece would have been his No 1. As he was unbeaten and won the derby in record time.
It’s only an opinion and you are entitled to yours of course.
