    Another fantastic upload ..brilliant comments which were lovely to read from people who know far more about h r Cecil than I do ,they don’t make em like Henry any more .and the end bit with the mighty frankel is just joyous …what a horse and what a trainer

    That shot of frankel breezing past them all in the champion stakes breathtaking. Superb video thanks.

    Wonderful trainer. A racing hero of mine I was lucky enough to meet him on a stable visit and he kindly agreed to posing for a photo with me which I had framed . It sits in my living room to this day. It was very sad day when he died two years later. Racing lost a great.

    Wonderful Archive footage of Sir Henry’s Great Thoroughbreds, particularly liked his interviews which gave us a rare insight into the Genius of the man.

    I worked for Sir Captain Cecil Boyd Rochfort in 1967, Henry was going to take over when Boyd Rochfort was soon to retire, i was homesick and Henry tried to talk me in to staying he was a great man , one of the all time greats.

    Fair list, no doubting the number one and could probably have two and three in either order without too much complaint.
    Quite remarkable man and his story is now the stuff of legend... It was certainly a rollercoaster of fortunes after losing so many owners in such a short space of time along with the Fallon episode but the bravery and dignity he showed toward the end will forever be remembered alongside his magnum opus, the majestic Frankel.
    Frankel's champion stakes still brings a lump to my throat... I read somewhere that a film is being planned, it should give Bob champion a run for his money in the Kleenex stakes if so!!

      @@HorseRacingLegends Cecil actually rated Bosra Sham as the best filly he ever trained, ahead of Indian Skimmer and Oh So Sharp... I might have squeezed Royal Anthem in this top 12, or made it top 13!!

      @BugleCoops Місяць тому

      @@HorseRacingLegends They were indeed, Royal Anthem was brilliant on his day and a bit unlucky in that he kept coming up against the top class Daylami. Killer Instinct was a major talking horse who just never showed it at the races... Went from the St James' Palace stakes in June to a handicap snip in the John Smith Cup in July and still finished out with the washing!!

    loved old vic and belmez, the day i was there and backed old vic . cecil won trainers championship that day. i remember belmez winning as a 2 year old 50/1 from another cecil horse so i backed him first race as a 3 year old at newbury 5/1 easy win great horse. so far fantastic video but indian skimmer who i saw run most of her races at the track would be in my top 5 sadly she had to have cut in the ground ok back to the vid with ardross

    thankflly i met this great man many times and even got a private stable tour by him one beautiful afternoon in 1989 it all fell apart when he left Julie who was the backbone of warren place. brilliant vid i could ramble on and on. should have been sir Henry years before but because he backed the pig for tax evasion. the only time i was pissed off by sir Hen was when he hired the biggest crook in racing KF i cant even bring myself to say its name.

    So much good horses passed through Henrys Cecils yard, loved the dual Derby winner Commander in Chief and always thought Sabrehill would have been 1 of his best if not getting injured. Would have loved to have seen how good the once raced 2YO Fleetwood would have been if not getting injured also. Loads and loads of good horses ,the list is endless 👌

    Indian Skimmer had the potential to be the best Filly I’ve ever seen, she fractured her leg and was never as good afterwards. Even though she won top races like the Champion Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes

    ok about to hit top 5 but before i do here would be mine. 1 Frankel 2 Reference Point 3 Oh So Sharp 4 Diminuendo joint 5th Old Vic and Indian Skimmer and to be honest i couldnt even do a top 10 too difficult with too many to choose from if a nutjob cecil fan like midday oath commander in chief kneller e had a lot of great 2 year olds that never trained on or got injured so that could be in a video by itself like be my chief citidancer . i could do a top 50 for all his horses as loved them all. after the likes of bolkonski and wollow he couldnt train a miler sadly reference point was sick for that race and later on sh. mohammed took his best 2 year olds out to godolphin because of that tart new wife of his and they won well as older horses. back to the vid
