My mom turned this song up really loud while I was driving her somewhere with her and told me I NEED to listen to this.. It was exactly what my broken heart needed at the time. What do you think the meaning of the song is? I think it's trying to say it's ALWAYS beautiful finding someone you love but it's ALWAYS gonna hurt in the end too
It's been a while since I've seen this video and posted about it, but as I mentioned previously, all of this was filmed in Scarborough, in my old neighborhood around Eglinton and Brimley, with some shots probably around the Victoria Park area if I'm not mistaken. The plazas (Eastown, Knob Hill) are still there on Eglinton, but the Elane Plaza, and the HMV store are long gone and developed into condos and townhouses (including the empty field they are all dancing in at the end). This was filmed in the early 90s.
esperinos80 The Real McCoy Burger was (and still is) at Markham Road in Scarborough. I think my condo may also be in this video, but it's hard to tell since they've re-modelled the exterior since the early 90s.
The empty field at the end of the video was actually turned into a playground/park, it was built around the late 90's if I'm not mistaken. And yea, there's some townhouses there as well. It's near McCowan and Eglinton.
The church seen at 0:04 is Faith Baptist Church, on Lawrence Ave. East, east of Golf Club Road. Our family attended there when I was in my teenaged days. The rest of the video also brings back memories. Great video.
And more specifically: "The video was shot in Scarborough around Eglinton and Danforth. Buildings shown in the video include the Pickering power plant, The Real McCoy restaurant and The A&A Record Store." It's the very first song I heard from BNL & instantly became a fan :)
I constantly start to sing this and try to get my girlfriend to dance with me in the most random places. it makes me happy and so is she so I don't really care what folks say or think
hear that !! at times their quirky humour has overshadowed their talent i recall one hilarious moment when they were barred from playing at City Hall in their hometown of Toronto because of their ''controversial name!'' which is fucking hysterical considering they're the most asexual and innocuous of bands!! keep listening !!
Is it sped up at points for copyright reasons or something?? I have listened to this song and cried over relationships many times and listened closely to it's amazing lesson it tries to teach.. Probably listen to this song close to once a day on average. If I Have never noticed this speed change that's after all those hours then what the hell?
Dead proof that they were better together than either is without each other. The band is awesome as always, but the sum of the parts is more than all the pieces separately.
This song smashes my heart in the most beautiful way...
Hardy Canadian boys outdoors singing and playing and of course road hockey.
Car!!
Wow I remember the exact first time I ever heard this song - stopped me dead in my tracks. Such a beautiful, meaningful song. Always one of my faves.

+esperinos80 It was A&A Records, spent a small fortune in there back in the day :)

My uncle, and most of my family at different points including myself, worked at the Club Bingo. It's now a Chinese grocery store.
My wife also worked at Club.

Amazing feeling this song brings...
Love these guys!
Pickering, Ontario.
Early 90's at the start of the building boom.
Amazing cover.
Ed.. omg.. so attractive!
The TRUE North. Strong and Free. God Bless us hosers, eh?!
I constantly start to sing this and try to get my girlfriend to dance with me in the most random places. it makes me happy and so is she so I don't really care what folks say or think
Beautiful
Ed's up is a sweet show!
I always thought that Ed's voice suited this song with Stephen doing background vocals much more than vice versa. Still love the song all the same.

A good song. From the early 90's. my guess around 92. Still reminds me of going sling with my now wife when we started dating. :)
...Try 84... Released by Bruce Cockburn. Covered by the BNL...

#TBT MuchMusic Countdown January 10 1992
This must've been filmed in Toronto...
Good ole Canadian boys!
They took this video down for a while, but they must have put it back not too long ago.
It's mostly, if not all, Scarborough. Part of it is on my old street! (Near Starspray blvd)
Looks like our east end Scarborough, Toronto.

NOTHING WORTH HAVING COMES WITHOUT SOME KINDA FIGHT!!!
It's up around Finch/Dixie area..
Epic
Sad that it only has 1980 hits.....
I heard Bruce Cockburn's version on the radio, and I was like "Oh, someone covered a BNL song." *facepalm*
Dead proof that they were better together than either is without each other. The band is awesome as always, but the sum of the parts is more than all the pieces separately.
It was late '91/early '92.
Canada in a song.
I like this version better than Bruce's
these guys really need to settle their differences. maybe watch this video and realize where they came from.

I miss Laura
Are you sure it wasn't Scarborough?
