Could not land at all last year, we flew to Tenerife refuelled, took off again back to Madeira, could not land again, ended up landing on the island near Madeira and getting a boat. Was on the plane over 8 hours!
boatsplanestrains They usually try to use just half of the runway when they land from Santa Cruz but if they went a little bit further they wouldn't need to make a hard landing. I really don't know why. It is a tricky airport though.

Yep quite heavy braking towards the end there. Presume if they went further they would have to turn and backtrack at the end of the runway?
