Ah man!! I felt a HUGE letdown when James went straight into the news so quickly, without the music! Please tell the higher-ups that they must loosen up their collars and keep the Pre-news back-and-forth staff banter, the news music, AND Nick! It’s so fulfilling!

I have to apologize to the "higher-ups" for assuming they were the cause and redirect my former ire at Steve for "being lazy" or whatever, and relaxing into a substandard intro. He's set the bar extremely high for himself. Therefore, he must meet/exceed that bar every night!

My wife watched yesterday's opening with me for the 1sttime in a few years. She had no clue the opening was this open and off the cuff. She asked me to fire up the new video this morning and as soon as the beer fell...she lost it in hysterical laughter. I think she's hooked now because of the beer.
Also Disco Turkey or Disco Peacock sounds like a great Adult Alternate band.

Yeah- this was a little flat today- less banter with the cast- nearly broke out with the set reveal but a little too programed to be a "great episode." Don't follow the script James- just do your thing!

@@ijustwanttosleepnow here’s the thing… almost everyone agrees with you. I agree with you. The comments section is proof that it’s pretty much universally preferred in this format.
But this isn’t what was pitched to the network all those years ago, and isn’t what long-time advertisers agreed to either.
Colbert is reverting back next week, and I think all the other late night hosts will wait to see how well that’s received. But it’s comparing apples to oranges.
Colbert, Meyers, Kimmel and Noah have gone small and intimate for their “lockdown” shows, whereas Corden (and Fallon for that matter) have brought in the crew.
The Late Late Show will revert back to the live audience format soon enough and will be all the worse for it.

@@dundermifflinity it's probably not sustainable anyway. If there was no genuine need for this format the atmosphere would change - it's human naturd. Maybe they could do it this way once a week still

Oh man! The intro is the only part I watch in this show because it’s the best. I very rarely watch the guest spots. But this was so disappointing because it was so cut! What happened to all the banter and Steve’s news intro? WTH is the network thinking by cutting all that out???

Many cruise ships aren’t being serious enough with the COVID restrictions.
The cruise ship industry wasn't going to allow anyone on their ships without vaccination unti DeSantis passed a bill that would fine them something like $5000 for each violation. One cruise ship company has already caved, The Royal Caribbean.
I want to know how many countries will allow passengers to disembark without proof of vaccination? My guess is zero since last year they wouldn't allow them to dock due to Covid.!
They talked about how they’d be able to check who’s vaccinated and who’s not a little bit during yesterday’s monologue.

I know. We all feel that way but you know at the end of the day CBS doesn't really care - they're going to do what they're going to do. They have their reasons . . . I love this format tho it's more like a reality show. If CBS doesn't do a late night reality show with a format like this some other studio eventually will I bet.
