Once me and my korean boyfriend (normal boy-friend) sent each other pics of the products that we use on our face. He sent me BUNCH of stuff that he used, most of the stuff he used was really fancy and he explained to me every one of them in detail and told me he used them every day and night. While i deadass sent him 3 products or something. Cleanser, tonic and moisturizer i believe. I felt so embarrassed for some reason. 😅 I think there is nothing wrong with men who take care of themselves, it is rather attractive. I wish more men took time to look after themselves!

Honestly, the guys with makeup on look good anyway because they have hairstyles that suit them, and aren’t dressed sloppy. Long-hair man has great style in general, the hair and jacket look great on him.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I think the reason Korea is so obsessed with appearance is because of the insane pressure to conform by society, so most people are so similar in interests and thinking & lack the depth to look further than looks. In Korea, the obsession with appearance (especially the face) is at its peak during middle school and high school, and people don't pay much attention to it even after they reach college age. Of course, we continue to take care of ourselves, but pay more attention to clothes and cleanliness than to appearance

I think once guys start wearing eye shadow, eyeliner, and TOO much lipstick that is a big turnoff. Just have the " natural look" if you want to wear makeup. BB cream to smooth out your skin tone/color, brush your eyebrows in place, and keep moving. I don't need my guy to be spending as much time in front of the mirror as I do.

No, those who say it's considered common wear makeup themselves, or their own peers do, so they think it is. It's not common, definitely, and most girls don't like guys wearing makeup. Most people simply don't care whether other guys wear makeup or not, thinking it's not their business. There was one guy who wore makeup in my workplace, everyone noticed, but nobody said anything bad or even pointed it out, out of respect.

When i was a kid i had to wear glasses that were so heavy they've left permanent marks on each side of my upper nose.When i'm wearing my contacts i use the slightest amount necessary to cover them up.One small bottle last me for over a year.I still feel kind of weird using it,but it keeps me from looking like i just woke up.😆

Genuinely asking because I'm really curious if this is related. In general men wearing makeup is not common yet in korea and the idea of it still weird to majority of people. Is this one of the reason why general public is not really fond of male idols compared to actors or singers (beside the prejudice of their attitude of course)? Makeup is a part of their job, some even wear makeup outside their schedule. So even if they are seen as 'visual standard' by idol fans, are they not exactly fit the norm of the society in general because of this aspect to the point people quite indifferent towards them (i've heard some even said men like them are embarassment)?

It means foundation, bb cream, concealer, brow pencil sometimes. Skincare is a given. Anything beyond that like eye shadow, bronzer etc still has some negative feminine stigma still attached. Most ordinary guys in Korea still don't wear makeup. It's generally the guys really into appearance, looking to attract a bombshell woman because their standards are "men that look as good as a celebrity" and well...celebrities globally wear makeup.

It's up to you but you should realize your values are indoctrinated. I'm Asian. Skincare was normal for us decades ago. Growing up in the West, men would think skincare and even cologne was "gay". Look at them now. This happened with pink clothes too. Started for men then for women, unisex around 2000 now back to being "feminine". I find the guys who care about this aren't secure in their masculinity. I got a deep voice, I'm buff, I'm a trained fighter and can out "masculine" people. Yet I can wear a pink hoodie because there's nothing to prove but here and there some guy will glance like it's weird.

I think once guys start wearing eye shadow, eyeliner, and TOO much lipstick that is a big turnoff. Just have the " natural look" if you want to wear makeup. BB cream to smooth out your skin tone/color, brush your eyebrows in place, and keep moving. I don't need my guy to be spending as much time in front of the mirror as I do.

Stars straight men like KISS, Human League, Gary Numan, Prince & Adam Ant, wore makeup, and their icon legend still carries on like today's Korea. If a straight man wears makeup to look polished, clean, and handsome then it is normal. I notice more gay men don't wear much makeup today but just a little bit of mascara, lips, bronzer, and eyebrows. Makeup is like wearing clothes on and should not be judged.

In some countries in Africa men wear make-up and it's beautiful, in Europe in the olden days men wore make-up, also Korean men aren't the önly men who wears make-up and make-up differs base on cultural perception of beautiful. When i was a kid i had to wear glasses that were so heavy they've left permanent marks on each side of my upper nose.When i'm wearing my contacts i use the slightest amount necessary to cover them up.One small bottle last me for over a year.I still feel kind of weird using it,but it keeps me from looking like i just woke up.😆

Genuinely asking because I'm really curious if this is related. In general men wearing makeup is not common yet in korea and the idea of it still weird to majority of people. Is this one of the reason why general public is not really fond of male idols compared to actors or singers (beside the prejudice of their attitude of course)? Makeup is a part of their job, some even wear makeup outside their schedule. So even if they are seen as 'visual standard' by idol fans, are they not exactly fit the norm of the society in general because of this aspect to the point people quite indifferent towards them (i've heard some even said men like them are embarassment)?
There are layers and layers of spiritual restriction. The makeup is bandaid on a deeper spiritual issue. The problem is the word Korean itself has come to represent an appearance and therefore a spiritual consciousness that becomes a spiritual prison to those who identify with it, limited that person from evolving beyond the self image they have of being so called Korean. Pray for the land of Korea and the human life residing there, that God may lead a spiritual awakening
There's a difference between skincare and makeup. Most Korean men don't actually wear makeup like women, but use skincare instead.

Most ordinary guys in Korea still don't wear makeup. It's generally the guys really into appearance, looking to attract a bombshell woman because their standards are "men that look as good as a celebrity" and well...celebrities globally wear makeup.

It's up to you but you should realize your values are indoctrinated. I'm Asian. Skincare was normal for us decades ago. Growing up in the West, men would think skincare and even cologne was "gay". Look at them now. This happened with pink clothes too. Started for men then for women, unisex around 2000 now back to being "feminine".
I find the guys who care about this aren't secure in their masculinity. I got a deep voice, I'm buff, I'm a trained fighter and can out "masculine" people. Yet I can wear a pink hoodie because there's nothing to prove but here and there some guy will glance like it's weird.
