Not all asians are the same. If you had bad experience with Koreans, the other Asians might be more your type - Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Taiwanese, etc
@@patturnweaver East Asians are quite different than South-East Asians, BUT, that only applies if they are in their original countries. In America, I would say it's mostly the same. A Japanese in Japan guy has more in common to Korea Koreans than born & bred Korean Americans, just in terms of mannerisms, cultural views, behavior.

Women of color with education, sophistication, etiquette, distinction, higher purpose, accomplishment and morals sometimes get a "back seat" in the media as compared to the raunchy portrayal done by the media. It is disappointing that people base their opinions and perceptions based on stereotypes.
But that's due to their own culture. Another example for guys in America is going to college, getting a good job, is seen as lame by themselves. What's cool to them is being a rapper, athlete, gangsta. Even in Africa, there are entire villages of people trying to make it big in soccer, there are no entire villages of people trying be engineers. So in terms of women, the same concepts are brought over.

But most men of all cultures don't find that attractive. What you describe is actually a major turn-off for a lot of men, and when it's not a turn-off, it certainly doesn't boost your value as much as it would for a man. Men stand to benefit a lot more, so it's a shame that statisitcally, we know a lot more women than men of color educate themselves. This is all accurate. I lived in Korea for two and a half years. I dated a lot there. More than I thought I’d be able to. The options are pretty vast. “Large” enough foreigner community of mostly English teachers and entrepreneurs. Tons of American GIs scattered across the multiple basis. And a large African community of young Textile exporters. Everything she said is accurate for not just Korean men when talking to Black Americans/Canadians, but also for the GIs and the Africans. They all assume that you’re DTF. So you have to weed through the bad ones to get to the good ones and there certainly are good ones there too.

The way these women said "Of course!" when he asked if they've dated there, I got the impression there's a stronger dating culture there than in the U.S. You're also saying you dated a lot. In the U.S., women will often say they haven't dated in months if not years. I haven't been on a date in many months.
@@MyAccountForCommenting It's not cuz it's stronger, it's more so the fact that as foreigners who have no roots there, they are more desperate to find someone who can help them integrate into the language and culture. So, their standards are lower than if they were locals of that country.
Despite the allure of Kdrama, black ladies need to remember that SK is just a tiny part of Asia. Instead of flocking to Korea, they should start checking out Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Phillipines, Indonesia, etc

It is very sad how our media portray black women, especially in music videos. But I am glad to see these beautiful women showing up and shutting down those stereotypes. It's funny how we have these fantasies of good romantic Korean men based on these kdramas only to shop up and find that's only a stereotype of them, most of them lol. It is actually sad, but glad to have people, channels like yours (and other Koreans) showing up truths. I already know blacks are already viewed differently and not in a positive light, but it is still sad to watch the confirmation. But glad to have this ammunition of truth as a protection as a blk woman when traveling or leaving in these places. Seems the only healthy ones to even consider are the ones whose family has more of an open mind/worldview and acceptance of other cultures, especially in regards to race.
It really shows the power of media representation. I think everyone should cancel any media that doesn't spread a good image of black people. Take a stronger stance against media. That means calling out your sibling or cousin who likes gangster style music. There needs to be more shows like the Cosby show.

You know I've dated alot of black women and I have no idea where this stereotype of black women are easy to get in bed with came from. Maybe it's different for men of other races but I always found I had to put in more work to prove to them I was some what serious about getting to know them compared to other races of women. While it would take me minimum 3-4 dates before that option was even on the table it would take me 1 date or a couple hours of meeting with white woman 😆. Sorry to say but I have watched some vlogs of Black ladies twerking in the streets, too tight clothes and as an older Black American woman I thought to myself "they see that and think we're all like that." I've also watched a group of young Black ladies try to get in a club and they were rejected even though other non-Blacks were let in.
What I find interesting is that whenever there’s a video about the negative experiences black people have regarding race you get a lot of people who come on the comments and attempt to say why discrimination against black people should be justified especially in dating like in this case. And yet when I’ve been on videos regarding Asians for instance on the same subject no one on the video is making the case why Asians deserve it like we see here. It seems some people are very committed to being anti-black.

As an Asian guy who is in a relationship with a black woman, disappointed to hear about these women being fetishized for the most part. There is a separate video on this channel with a girl from Ga who lives w/her Korean husband and it's pretty fascinating to hear there experiences living in Korea. He went to HS in the US which I think made a big difference. I think 90% of the Korean guys in Korea only can relate to what they see on social media or on TV which isn't always positive unfortunately. Kudos to the ladies here for being thoughtful and not just bashing the guys even though they had every right to.
It's funny about the burn bright thing regarding dating because that is also at least from african (specifically my home country) dating. You like each other, you spend time, there's no time wasting or gaming, you are together and if it lasts great lol. I actually prefer that, i was confused initially trying to date in the US, where it seems more gamey, the guys definitely also wanted to move fast (guess fast moving is a universal male thing?) but definitely not fast regarding relationships, just physical.
I'm American and I do burn-bright dating. Most of my relationships started within no more than three weeks of meeting. I've never had a slow-burn relationship. The closest thing would be if we weren't really keeping in touch after a date or two but came back together later vs. consistently dating for months before locking in. I'm not a huge fan of constant texting, but I could deal with it if I knew it was a cultural thing.
The reports I have heard from blacks in Korea were not encouraging. I am not interested in visiting ANY country that places such a premium on light-coloured skin. I can do without colorism. I am white, by the way.

Hope it all changes. Being into Korean and Japanese culture makes it easier to understand how these issues come up. The groups aren't super used to eachother and this these misunderstandings happen and the loud minorities will make it more personal than it actually is. You hit the nail on the head and so did the women in the video. Interacting with us and other groups is relatively new. New in the grand scheme of things. I understand that. Not many people will be patient enough to.
Most of the world has the same stereotypes, Europe, obviously same, South America, same, All of Asia, same, Australia/NZ, Same, Middle-East same. Unless you go back to Africa, but when anyone suggests that, it's seen as an insult
I hope black ladies expand their horizons beyond South Korea. Asia is a big place - don't forget Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Phillipines, Indonesia, etc. Lots of quality Asian men out there, not just Korea.
Women of all races seem to only consider Japan, Korea as realistic options. Men are much, much more evenly spread out across Asia. For women, culture and economics is just such a big deal to them. Men can like a woman without being drawn to the culture or the economic situation, but women just have much higher standards.
K-drama is part of the things that influences the travel. Perhaps, over asian countries should prove their visibility and beauty through the media as well. Could be music.

Foreign women in Korea are much more likely to encounter men who specifically seek out foreign women, which is completely different from just being open to meeting foreign women. Be aware of that selection bias, and understand that you might not be dealing with baseline behavior.
Which is why I think meeting Korean from friend of friend completely by accidents is the best way to go about it. Because they’re not in an environment where they expect to meet foreign. Women. Of course fétichiste can still decide to approach if they are also at those events. But it’s less likely that they will.
But that's just due to the women's culture of expecting guys to make the 1st move. They have the power to change that; approach guys that aren't showing interest, that way you're completely avoiding the type of men you're describing. But most women, view such a thing is beneath them, so the cycle continues.

Currently trending, Black women in music are selling sex, so when any foreigner that has never met a black woman or talk to a black woman this is automatically what they will assume of us. I don't think being Black makes those ladies treated any easier than the locals. Being a foreigner in a foreign country makes you an easy target. Men want the same from Korean women but they know there may be more social consequences when they date Korean women, and it dictates their behaviors.

Without knowing how you met them or their age and background, it’s hard to grasp the correlation between your dating experiences with Korean men in the States and the dating encounters of foreign women in Korea. I've observed that, overall, men in the state tend to be more direct when it comes to dating and intimacy, regardless of their racial backgrounds. I just wanted to say that race isn't the reason driving how those men treat foreign women in Korea. If someone is an opportunistic user, their behavior won't change based on your race but it might change due to social consequences.

I'm a black American female. I went to Zürich solo and got blatantly stared at by the men there. The only other black people I saw were inside the central train station (probably just passing through). I'm pretty sure they weren't black Americans though (probably Africans). So, I was an extreme anomaly. I was like "hi 😊 you're welcome to stare."
as a black woman, it's hard dating in any non-black country. As a black woman in France, it's just hell. Non-black people just hate blackness, especially on women.
Well, it's more a matter of competition with other races, not necessarily location. And it's no fault of your own, it's just other races are more blessed to have visuals that are not to say more beautiful, but more widely accepted by different cultures.

One of the biggest surprise for me over the last decade is how many more black women I see in Seoul. It is an amazing trend, I never imagined would happen in my lifetime.
I think the point is (and I noticed this in 2017 when I went to Seoul). There are a lot of black people (including women over there). It was a little surprising to me coming from Japan (I lived there at the time). You saw black people, but not in the same numbers as South Korea in my experience.
It only becomes an issue if Koren women either can't get other races, or don't want to go for other races. And we know neither is true. When one of those conditions is true, then it becomes an issue for them e.g black women in western countries who can't really get other races, or white women in lower status asian countries who aren't attracted to the men there, but all the wite men want to go for the Asian women instead

That's why the entertainment industry in general must begin to move away from the lower vibrational habitual mainstream music patterns and performing arts concepts that target and thereby demean People of Color in general, but particularly, Africans, African Americans (Blacks) and others that, for the most part, slant and even lie altogether about historical and cultural facts and even the truth in an effort to sensationalize/fantasize cultural reality for profit and influence. It is important to do this not only because it's the right thing to do, but also, it is important to not offend people carelessly in an increasingly global marketplace. Intermingling of diverse populations worldwide has become normal and even embraced. So having respect alongside an understanding for our global neighbors is paramount. Therefore, moving away from stereotypes that are founded on racist, bigoted and even egotistical ideas is not only ignorant but dangerously counterproductive in a global marketplace. Moreover, and for example, America's entertainment industry is one of the largest and most powerful in the world, and so, what it promotes typically does have a large influence on mass perceptions, unless, a people/person have a good upbringing, are well educated and well traveled. Therefore, people in general, do have a tendency to believe whatever is put 'out there' of which is mostly false. However, because of such mass perceptual fabrications that have been, and still are, promoted to the public at large it is very important to counter such degrading/negative advertising, marketing and stereotypical representations by being a positive example. Importantantly, it's intelligent to have commentary videos like this in order to disseminate the truth/facts which dissolves lies by enlightening people to the facts which distributes to the public a reasonably balanced social-cultural perspective. I think in Korea, men who like to sleep around will look for women to sleep with, not just black women. I’m originally from Russia/Ukraine, and the men there often think that almost every Russian/Ukrainian woman is someone they can easily sleep with. I don’t know who started this notion, but I don’t like it. I’m sure this attitude isn’t limited to ‘black girls’ or ‘Russian/Ukrainian girls,’ but extends to women from many other countries that Korean men find particularly beautiful.

Media representation and close-mindedness of Korean people due to lack of diversity in the country lead to these unshakeable beliefs in stereotypes. Black female rappers are probably one of the most well known forms of media of us and it doesn’t necessarily suck, what sucks is that it’s the only real form that gets traction. What also sucks is that simple-minded individuals exist that take everything at surface level. Most Asian dominated countries (China, Korea, and more) just can’t find it within themselves to understand that what they see online may not represent a whole demographic of people (shocking, right?). It seems like a very easy to understand concept but they just can’t grasp it.
In addition, South Korea had the highest number of removal requests to Google by the Korean government in the world. I don't know the details of why, but I can tell you that it is a very controlling country.

Representation matters. I can totally see how they would think we are all like the people in movies. I thank the expats that move to these kind of places. They show them we are as real as they are. Much like people learn about people in America.
Ethiopians think the same thing about Arabs and their big nose and whites with their thin lips, west Africans and their wide noses etc but they have enough common sense and are polite enough to not shame them for it. The list can go on when you start judging people based on physical attributes that are commonly found in their race. None of this is relevant or a reflection of her character.
I think dating world sucks these days everywhere in the world including North America. Not only specific to SKorea. Also reversely, Asian women outside Asia are viewed naive and easy targets of men who only want to play - just for an experience or out of curiosity.
Unfortunately many of these stereotypes come from these hip hop videos that show our women scantily dressed while twerking. It’s ok to be sexy without so much vulgarity. We need to check ourselves. Women of color with education, sophistication, etiquette, distinction, higher purpose, accomplishment and morals sometimes get a "back seat" in the media as compared to the raunchy portrayal done by the media. It is disappointing that people base their opinions and perceptions based on stereotypes.
But that's due to their own culture. Another example for guys in America is going to college, getting a good job, is seen as lame by themselves. What's cool to them is being a rapper, athlete, gangsta. Even in Africa, there are entire villages of people trying to make it big in soccer, there are no entire villages of people trying be engineers. So in terms of women, the same concepts are brought over.

But most men of all cultures don't find that attractive. This is all accurate. I lived in Korea for two and a half years. I dated a lot there. More than I thought I’d be able to. The options are pretty vast. “Large” enough foreigner community of mostly English teachers and entrepreneurs. Tons of American GIs scattered across the multiple basis. And a large African community of young Textile exporters. Everything she said is accurate for not just Korean men when talking to Black Americans/Canadians, but also for the GIs and the Africans. They all assume that you’re DTF. So you have to weed through the bad ones to get to the good ones and there certainly are good ones there too.

It is very sad how our media portray black women, especially in music videos. But I am glad to see these beautiful women showing up and shutting down those stereotypes.
It's funny how we have these fantasies of good romantic Korean men based on these kdramas only to shop up and find that's only a stereotype of them, most of them lol. It is actually sad, but glad to have people, channels like yours (and other Koreans) showing up truths. I already know blacks are already viewed differently and not in a positive light, but it is still sad to watch the confirmation. But glad to have this ammunition of truth as a protection as a blk woman when traveling or leaving in these places. Seems the only healthy ones to even consider are the ones whose family has more of an open mind/worldview and acceptance of other cultures, especially in regards to race.
It really shows the power of media representation. I think everyone should cancel any media that doesn't spread a good image of black people. Take a stronger stance against media. You know I've dated alot of black women and I have no idea where this stereotype of black women are easy to get in bed with came from. Maybe it's different for men of other races but I always found I had to put in more work to prove to them I was some what serious about getting to know them compared to other races of women. As an Asian guy who is in a relationship with a black woman, disappointed to hear about these women being fetishized for the most part. There is a separate video on this channel with a girl from Ga who lives w/her Korean husband and it's pretty fascinating to hear there experiences living in Korea. He went to HS in the US which I think made a big difference. I think 90% of the Korean guys in Korea only can relate to what they see on social media or on TV which isn't always positive unfortunately. Kudos to the ladies here for being thoughtful and not just bashing the guys even though they had every right to.

It's funny about the burn bright thing regarding dating because that is also at least from african (specifically my home country) dating. You like each other, you spend time, there's no time wasting or gaming, you are together and if it lasts great lol. I actually prefer that, i was confused initially trying to date in the US, where it seems more gamey, the guys definitely also wanted to move fast (guess fast moving is a universal male thing?) but definitely not fast regarding relationships, just physical.
I'm American and I do burn-bright dating. Most of my relationships started within no more than three weeks of meeting. I've never had a slow-burn relationship. The closest thing would be if we weren't really keeping in touch after a date or two but came back together later vs. consistently dating for months before locking in. I'm not a huge fan of constant texting, but I could deal with it if I knew it was a cultural thing.

Hope it all changes. Being into Korean and Japanese culture makes it easier to understand how these issues come up. The groups aren't super used to eachother and this these misunderstandings happen and the loud minorities will make it more personal than it actually is. Foreign women in Korea are much more likely to encounter men who specifically seek out foreign women, which is completely different from just being open to meeting foreign women. Be aware of that selection bias, and understand that you might not be dealing with baseline behavior.
Which is why I think meeting Korean from friend of friend completely by accidents is the best way to go about it. Because they’re not in an environment where they expect to meet foreign. Women. Of course fétichiste can still decide to approach if they are also at those events. But it’s less likely that they will.
But that's just due to the women's culture of expecting guys to make the 1st move. They have the power to change that; approach guys that aren't showing interest, that way you're completely avoiding the type of men you're describing. But most women, view such a thing is beneath them, so the cycle continues.

I don't think being Black makes those ladies treated any easier than the locals. Being a foreigner in a foreign country makes you an easy target. Men want the same from Korean women but they know there may be more social consequences when they date Korean women, and it dictates their behaviors.

Without knowing how you met them or their age and background, it’s hard to grasp the correlation between your dating experiences with Korean men in the States and the dating encounters of foreign women in Korea. I've observed that, overall, men in the state tend to be more direct when it comes to dating and intimacy, regardless of their racial backgrounds. I just wanted to say that race isn't the reason driving how those men treat foreign women in Korea. If someone is an opportunistic user, their behavior won't change based on your race but it might change due to social consequences.

I see in Seoul. It is an amazing trend, I never imagined would happen in my lifetime.
I think the point is (and I noticed this in 2017 when I went to Seoul). There are a lot of black people (including women over there). It was a little surprising to me coming from Japan (I lived there at the time). You saw black people, but not in the same numbers as South Korea in my experience.
Here is a video idea: Ask Korean women how they feel about all these (foreign)women flooding into Korea.

It only becomes an issue if Koren women either can't get other races, or don't want to go for other races. And we know neither is true. When one of those conditions is true, then it becomes an issue for them e.g black women in western countries who can't really get other races, or white women in lower status asian countries who aren't attracted to the men there, but all the wite men want to go for the Asian women instead

Intermingling of diverse populations worldwide has become normal and even embraced. So having respect alongside an understanding for our global neighbors is paramount. I think in Korea, men who like to sleep around will look for women to sleep with, not just black women. I’m originally from Russia/Ukraine, and the men there often think that almost every Russian/Ukrainian woman is someone they can easily sleep with. I don’t know who started this notion, but I don’t like it. I’m sure this attitude isn’t limited to ‘black girls’ or ‘Russian/Ukrainian girls,’ but extends to women from many other countries that Korean men find particularly beautiful.

Media representation and close-mindedness of Korean people due to lack of diversity in the country lead to these unshakeable beliefs in stereotypes. Black female rappers are probably one of the most well known forms of media of us and it doesn’t necessarily suck, what sucks is that it’s the only real form that gets traction. What also sucks is that simple-minded individuals exist that take everything at surface level. Most Asian dominated countries (China, Korea, and more) just can’t find it within themselves to understand that what they see online may not represent a whole demographic of people (shocking, right?). It seems like a very easy to understand concept but they just can’t grasp it.
In addition, South Korea had the highest number of removal requests to Google by the Korean government in the world. I don't know the details of why, but I can tell you that it is a very controlling country.
