There's a jank to the first person bow draw animation that honestly feels like it'd be iconic. Like... I have no idea how to properly phrase it, but I feel VERY positively about that bow draw animation.

I actually love the 2D/3D aesthetic, looks really unique. Would you consider adding some sort of melee and grappling onto enemies? Also adding 8 angles for animations instead of 4 would look way better imo, even if it would be a lot of work.

I definitely have a lot more character animation work that needs to be done (new animations and cleanup work for the ones there already, eventually different armor sets) 8 angles would definitely look better and you're right it would be a lot more work to scale up but its probably worth it hah
I would focus on game play and getting the world really good, the visuals is good enough for now, if the world is boring no one will care if you have the best visuals.

Clicked this video on an off-chance, after not seeing that many interesting game projects for a while - and the opening alone was astonishing. I genuinely don't think I've seen a better teaser for the gameplay than that before. Already, I feel hyped for what's to come. Combining 2D with 3D is such an interesting premise that isn't done enough, with some tweaking of the 3D aesthetic to match the 2D better, I feel like it could be the perfect blend.

One minute in, and I'm pretty sure this game is the baby of Octopath Traveller and Shadow of the Colossus. So much atmosphere. So goddamn pretty. And the visuals work weirdly well together despite being radically different styles.

FPS toggle in a third person or film dolly camera games is such a strong mechanic. The art in so many is astounding that having some method regardless of controls depth to switch to first person changes how many screeshots result from it. Photo modes and in game cameras or 4th wall screenshot methods are great.
i really like the duality between a sprite protagonist in a 3D world. it feels like it will help create a sense of being in an unfamiliar place when exploring the landscape. i hope to see more!

I think if maybe you took a similar approach as deadcells (3D rendered to pixelated sprites) it might make this easier.
