"You're semi evil, you're quasi evil, You're the diet coke of evil. Just 1 calorie, not evil enough!" To this day I still quote that line whenever I can
Summer 1999. I’d finish my shift waiting tables at night and go back to see this movie many times with friends and we’d laugh our asses off. Then we all started quoting the lines. Great sequel!
And she IS playing herself as that's how she introduced herself in the film. She used to be married to John Stamos, so most people remember her as Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.
All three Austin Powers movies are well worth watching so long as you enjoyed the first one. glad you decided to watch the second one. Thanks for the reaction video.
Just want to say that I deal with depression, anxiety, and social isolation. Your videos provide some much needed entertainment and make me feel as though I'm watching these movies with friends.
I really do feel you. After losing my immune system, I ended up losing all of my “friends”. I have pretty much became a bubble boy. I once loved watching movies with my friends. I used to miss that. I am so greatful that that’s no longer the case.

Love your guys' reactions as always, been waiting for this one! Couple of important things to mention for context: 1. All the Star Wars references are because this released alongside The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars movie in nearly 20 years! And Austin Powers 2 eventually knocked Episode 1 off number 1 at the box office! 2. Vanessa being written out is a reference many don't get - it's to the fact every James Bond movie has a different female character every time, with no explanation as to what happened to the last one. Austin Powers 3 won't even bother with the explanation!
Yeah, it's painfully clear that most of this is literally a mockery of James Bond, but it's done in a very sweet, harmless way -- and actually makes this great in its own right. It's a bit like how Scary Movie is literally better than Scream (though Scream 1-3 are okay and pretty funny social commentary in their own right, though I personally don't highly rate them and think it's a bit too post-modernist nonsense. It's the same reason why Elm Street are actually bad horror movies: they tried to make a strong female hero, and it just became a slasher with zero tension/fear in terms of the victims and the killer/Freddy, so their 'fight scenes' are just cringey. Thankfully, I actually think New Nightmare is good, though also meta. Elm Street 1 and 3 are also good. The rest are bad, I think, though it at least has some story and symbolism. By Scream 4, though, it just became silly. Kinda interested to see what they do with Scream 6 given that it's now meta-meta-meta in the real world...
A few cameos to address the guy watching the jerry springer show at the beginning, is Michael Macdonald, who was a regular on MadTV he also plays the guard from the first Austin powers film who keeps yelling and refuses to move until he’s crushed by the steamroller they’re driving... The henchmen who is with Robin swallows/Spits who keeps shooting her is the versatile actor Kevin Durand, who’s facial expressions are brilliant Young number 2 is played by the talented actor, Rob Lowe The president is played by Tim Robbins
This is my favorite of the Austin Powers movies. I love that they brought Heather Graham into it. I used to watch Springer all the time back in the day too with my brother. It' great day time television. Yes that was Tim Robins.
7:31 - The actress who played Ivana went on to really rise to fame with the show 3rd Rock from the Sun. I highly recommend reacting to it, the show also features John Lithgow, a young Joseph Gordon Levitt, and French Stewart. Funniest show I’ve ever watched 😂
Blockbuster Video had a promotional thing where they gave out a stuffed Mr. Bigglesworth that said random quotes from the movie. My dog took off with it, we'd be sitting there, and it would say "we don't gnaw on our kitty!"
😂😂😂😂 all of them was great movies and glad I got to experience them as a kid at the movies. I can't wait to see yall react to the 3rd one goldmember. It was so good and funny too. ❤
Don't forget that rhey were able to do more, because they almost doubled the budget compared to the first one (from $16.5M to $33M... and $63M for the third one... almost blockbuster level budget for the time).
Didn't notice this comment - Mike Meyers is the actor who plays Austin Powers, Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard. He is also one of the writers of the movie as well.
One of my fav comedys ever. I remember a friend and i getting high af and laughing our asses off to this. Even tho we probably thought we were too cool for school and Austin Powers slapstick comedies but we were quoting this for the rest of the year.
2 recommendations for you: My Girl (1991) - terrific Motown soundtrack and Macauley Culkin's best role. Funny, sad, everything. Amazing movie. You'll be singing the songs throughout. Also, if you're up for some awesome kids horror, Return To Oz. It has some crap your pants horror moments and it was rated PG in 1985. I love it for that. Forget kids, that movie would scare people our ages! But Austin Powers is classic 90s raunchy comedy. We're not quite at the R rated, American Pie stuff yet, but it came out within months of this, so we're just starting to see that kind of humour in mainstream movies. Canadian content!
The time machine is a reference to "The Time Tunnel," a series from the 60s/70s that was a bit like Quantum Leap - the time machine there is identical to the Austin Powers one
25:42 they actually had a deleted scene where they’re in his pad the first time and he uses a metal detector on her when she was asleep just to be sure. And after the Scott & Frau mid credit spot, there’s actually another where Austin walks in on Felicity shagging someone else but it’s actually just Past Austin and his response, “technically it’s not cheating baby” 😂 this was my favorite Austin Powers movie and thank you guys for covering it!
The next one goldmember is my favorite. My sisters and I grew up on these movies 😂 so many quotable lines. Love that we get the jokes more now that we’re older. 😂 still quote them randomly..
Yesssssss!!! I’m so happy you did more Austin Powers!!! You definitely have to watch the 3rd one, one of the few series where every movie is just as good as the last
My favorite movie preview of all time. ''If you see 1 movie this summer, see Star Wars: A Phantom Menace... but if you see 2 movies this summer see Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.''
You didn’t recognize the time machine Dr. evil was using it was from an old 60s TV show known as Time Tunnel. While on the other hand, Austin used the Time Machine like back to the future.
This film was the first sequel to gross more money during its opening weekend at the domestic box office than what its predecessor finished with. $54 million in three days, which was one of the absolute biggest opening weekends of all time at that point.
These movies just keep getting better, imo. Sadly, there is only only one left. On another note, after seeing Woody Harrellson, just wanted to suggest the 1994 Natural Born Killers starring Woody Harrellson, Robert Downey Jr., Tommy Lee Jones, and the recently departed, Tom Sizemore. Based upon a script by Quentin Tarantino, reimagined for the screen by controversial filmmaker Oliver Stone. Phenomenal film.
One of the underrated qualities of these movies is that they don't get bogged down in explaining every inconsistency in the story. Like how Basil tells Austin that they knew Vanessa was a fembot and he doesn't elaborate any further. Or how they never explain why Number Two is back in this movie despite the fact that Dr Evil killed him near the end of the first movie. And when it comes to the time travel bit, Basil literally tells the audience not to think about it. I love how self aware these movies are, lmao.
This is my favorite of the trilogy. I didn't care for the 3rd one overall, but a lot of people like it. For me, nothing could beat this movie, or it's soundtrack. Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman" is better than the original.
"You're semi evil, you're quasi evil, You're the diet coke of evil. Just 1 calorie, not evil enough!" To this day I still quote that line whenever I can

LOL

Yep, I got this DVD my freshman year of high school and watched it many times with my friends and had some great laughs 😃
Was marijuana involved?
@@deesavage5198 yes, I had just started smoking 🤣
Fan fact: The blonde model who show's up at the beginning is Rebecca Romjin, whose plays Mystique in the original X-Men trilogy (2000, 2003 and 2006).
And she IS playing herself as that's how she introduced herself in the film.
She used to be married to John Stamos, so most people remember her as Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.
She literally introduced herself, AS herself. How is this a "fun fact"?
All three Austin Powers movies are well worth watching so long as you enjoyed the first one. glad you decided to watch the second one. Thanks for the reaction video.

there was in fact one James Bond movie where he gets married but she ends up being killed in the beginning of the very next movie.

Austin had it all! Elizabeth Hurley, Heather Graham and Beyonce, yea baby!

That’s right. Kristen Johnston aka Sally Solomon who also played Wilma in The Flintstones sequel Viva Rock Vegas circa 2000.
And Jane Curtain!!!
You can see Joseph really had talent back then -- he went on to be solid! Love that guy.
Didn't 3rd Rock start in 96? This move is 99
@@cobbsta88 I don’t remember the exact year, I just know this was the same actress lol

Mini-Me and Fat Bastard were just the most incredible character additions.
RIP Verne Troyer
Gotta love him even though he is a Fat Bastard his voice sounds just like Shrek.
4:50 The name of the song is Soul Bossa Nova. Written by the legendary Quincy Jones in 1962 😎

I have a core memory of my dad laughing so hard he was crying for the 3rd movie
I always like the fact the Number 2 from 1969 is Rob Lowe but retains Robert Wagners voice. Its pretty neat.
The Jerry Springer bit might be the hardest I've ever laughed in a movie theater.
Can't wait for the 3rd one!!!!! U guys have such contagious laughs
