Austin Powers 4 idea: Scott Evil goes back in time to get a prior version of Dr. Evil, back when he was still evil, brings him forward to assist with taking over the world. The good version of Dr. Evil could make a small cameo where he's Dougie and some super hippie commune type of love-fest dude, maybe teaching kindergarten or saving baby seals or leading group counseling for formerly evil people, but I don't see him being a big part of it because the evil Dr. Evil vs Austin is the key dynamic for these movies, so that needs to remain a mainstay, I think.
"There are only two things I hate in this world, people who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch!" Is one of my favorite Austin Powers quotes of all time. Also, Wayne's World 1 and 2 is a must-see since you've got Austin Powers under your belt.
Michael Caine as Austin Powers’ Dad is perfect casting imo 😂 So happy you guys completed the Austin Powers Trilogy. Very Shagadelic Baby! Yeah! Edit: Also, we need a 4th film! And RIP Verne Troyer aka Mini Me!
I think is becuase Michael Caine had that playboy fame due to that movie ALFIE he did back then. There's actually a deleted scene with a song in it called Alfie (changed to Austin).
To this day, I've never seen the crowd in a movie theatre laughing so hard as it did with Austin Powers: Goldmember. Saw this in 2002 in a packed Toronto cinema. Once in a lifetime experience.
I embarrassed my self hard in the theater. I'm a quiet person, but I had tears rolling down my face. I was laughing that hard at parts that everyone else just chuckled at. 😆 This is my favorite of the movies, for sure.
Your reaction to Mini-Me sliding out of the chute directly into a wall finally broke me and I just burst out laughing at 3 AM local time, you guys are the best! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It sort of shows how movie comedies were so strong back then that some people considered this a bit average at the time. Compare to movie comedies we've gotten over the last 10+ years it's a masterpiece.
"I thought I smelled cabbage," as in cabbage patch kids. I'm so glad you finally watched this! I love your reactions, and this movie is even better with you laughing along!
I thought he was calling Mini Me a leprechaun-- referencing cabbage because it's part of Irish cuisine. This would also serve as a call back to his earlier joke with him hating people who were intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. Lol
""I used to think you were evil, but now I can see you're nuts" aaa thank you very much" is my favourite joke of my life. I saw this when it came out at the cinema while I was 11. And it ruined my humour for decades lmao! Glad you watched it! Cause, like you're saying - it's my favorite of the three
Michael Caine played a spy in a trilogy of films in the 1960s; The Ipcress File (1965) Funeral In Berlin (1966) Billion Dollar Brain (1967) Those films were also an inspiration for the Austin Powers character. Makes total sense Caine would be cast as Austin's father.
I literally just finished RE-WATCHING the first two Austin Powers reactions, and by amazing coincidence, this reaction is up. Well played, fate. Well played.
Austinpussy was 100% an homage to the Bond film named "Octopussy". Also the scene where they are pouring gold towards his dad's crotch on a table was an homage to the laser torture scene with bond in Goldfinger where he was on a table as a laser was doing the same.
Your reaction to Danny Devito as Mini Me. . .Priceless. In fact that entire opening sequence got most of us. I thought they'd recast the entire film at first.
I think originally he was going to make the villain Canadian (which he is) because he wanted the villain to be from somewhere that people think are unanimously nice people. However then the South Park movie came out where Canadians go to war, so he changed it to the Dutch
The first time I saw the urine sample scene, I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe for what felt like an eternity! 😂 My absolute favorite type of comedy! A shame they don't make them anymore. Oh well, I can always just re-watch Austin Powers, Hot Shots, The Naked gun etc.
Been waiting for you guys to get to this movie. Knew you would be completely blown away by the mind-blowing cameos at the beginning, probably the best opening to any comedy movie. You even included one of my favourite lines - "It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws, it's not...". Also check out how a "Starbucks" employee drops the two coffees he's carrying and flees the split second copyright is mentioned. Awesome 🙂
I agree, #3 is my favorite - but a lot of the jokes came from nods to the first film (ex: sharks with laser beams). I remember seeing this one in theaters with my brother and and we DIED laughing, pretty much non-stop. PERFECTION! PS i request you guys watching Mike Meyers in So I Married An Axe Murderer.
Definitely the best of the three, one of the best comedies ever. You pointed out a lot of the highlights, but I think the best line of all was Michael Caine, "I only hate two things in life, people who are intolerant of other people's cultures,... and the Dutch!" The perfect delivery of a brilliant comedic line. There are so many great moments in this movie.
Oh. My. God..... I absolutely loved your guys energy! This was a fantastic run down memory lane! The shear giddyness you both had over every scene made my day, thank you!
I like to think since there were two Austins at the end of the second film that one of them stayed with Felicity and the other stayed single and went on the mission in this film.
One if my favorite comedy/paradies. I was in middle school when this released so the jokes were especially funny. I still think about and recite certain jokes cuz this movie just resonated with me so much.
Can you imagine the reactions in theaters to that wild Intro?!? These three comedies just got better and better with each one. Nigel Powers, who saw that coming? This was just too funny to be enjoyed in a packed theater - the laughter cancelled out so many lines (always tried to hit the last showing on an early week school-night). Ever see WAYNE'S WORLD (One and Two)? How about SO, I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER, starring Mike Myers?
The second is still my favorite but this one is funnier than I remembered. The Danny Davito cameo “Hay assholes, it me, Minnie Me” is hilarious. Scott’s evil laugh and “are those sharks, with lasers?” is great. Also, a few years after this came out, I had a bbq at my house and my dad couldn’t make it last minute so I sang the “Daddy wasn’t there” song as a joke. All my friends got it.
The whole trilogy has fantastic replay value. Even as ridiculous as some of the jokes are, you cant help laughing at them time & time again. The way you both went "Whoa !" at the same time as Dr Evil when seeing Scotty's bad hair was hilarious !
Mike Myers has been interested in a Austin Austin Powers 4 after all these years but so far it hasn't been made to this day. Also Mike Myers played not only Austin Powers but he also played Dr. Evil. The actor who played Mini Me sadly passed away a few years ago. I think they shouldn't make a fourth one. You guys should react to Kick ass if you haven't already
He got the idea of the character of Austin Powers by haging around with his friends, real musicians in Hollywood who were fans of the 60s music, (his fictional band in the movie, Ming Tea). That's how the idea for the movie was born. The only girl in the band is Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles and her husband the movie director). Dr. Evil is his imitation of the producer of SNL.
The guy in the front @ 24:28 who's reading the radar is Ron Howard's younger brother Clint. Ron is a VERY famous actor/director who starred in the Andy Griffith Show as a kid and was also in a sit com called Happy Days in the 1970s. His younger brother Clint was also in Apollo 13 (he was reading radar in that movie too!).
I watched this DVD on repeat so much on my PS2 that after awhile it didn't work. I basically watched it to death. There were laser rings burned into it. That's how much I watched this movie. Also I quote this movie constantly with my Faszha.
The Mister Robotto joke is so funny because it's so obvious and you see it coming from miles away. It's so unbelievably stupid that it becomes hilarious again.
verne troyer really brought a lot of amazing comedy to these films, it was a tragedy when he passed. its great that he gets to live on through his films
It may not be the best overall movie in the trilogy, but that opening sequence with all the cameos and dancing is pretty much worth the price of admission all on its own. :)
I don't even understand why people don't like this one. Aside from Beyonce's cringy acting it's just as funny and entertaining as the first two in my opinion
@@WoahLookAtThatFreak For me, it's not that I "don't like it" - I just think that the central storyline is a little blander and weaker, and not quite as many of the jokes land (or they just feel like copies of the same joke from previous films). Still fun and enjoyable like you say, just not my fav!
I cannot confirm it but rumour has it that when dr evil hit the door and it swings open. That was a mistake that was not supposed to open so he just improvise closing it.
They were about to make an Austin powers 4 but the actor that played mini me passed away and they didn’t feel right not having him in the film so they scrapped it.
In an extended sequence of the jail scene, after Dr Evils song is over, another inmate says the song sucks. Mini Me basically turns into a drill and burrows a hole straight through his chest. That's when Dr. Evil tells them they are going to start a riot.
Some say Felicity left because even though Vanessa was a fembot or had been killed and replaced with a fembot (some go back to 'International Man of Mystery' to try and find the spot int he move when she was replaced) Austin still wasn't over her, my own theory is that even though Felicity knew she was more than capable of taking on two Austin Powers, she still felt it was selfish of her to keep both Austin Powers to herself and that he was needed for the world, so she went back to the 1960s with Austin Powers From Ten Minutes Ago.
3:55 The faces of two men who finally saw inspiration for the story Danny Devito was talking about in Always Sunny... I was hired to play Mini-me in an Austin Powers Parody for the third movie... Long story short, So anyway I started blasting!
One of the craziest things in this movie is that it actually spoofed something that didn't exist yet at the time. *Spoilers for the Daniel Craig Bond films* . . . The character that Dr Evil is a parody of, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, originally had not family relation to James Bond, but the recent Bond Films that rebooted the series continuity actually made them Foster Brothers. He was all space balling it in there. These are not them, you’ve captured their stunt doubles.
