Ken Miles lived, and died for the cause. A True tragic story. I’m pleased this movie has brought this British legend into the limelight. He certainly deserves it 👏🏻👏🏻
Can't say that unfortunately about Matt Damon .....wish they got someone with better ability for such an iconic role. Damon as Shelby is quite a stretch, hope he pulls it off.
@@Flynnick I'm sorry, your point is? I know Ken Mile is British however I am so used to hearing Bale's voice as an American accent that it feels out of place to hear his actual speaking voice.
Yes, he looks and speaks the parts he plays, you tend to forget if he has a normal look or accent! In fact his English accent in the film felt strange as he mostly plays American characters.
The director, Matt and Christian are not car people, yet they all put together an incredible racing movie. It's about loyalty, trust and the near impossible task of beating Ferrari at their own game. Please go and see it!
Perfect casting. I can't imagine a better actor to be Ken Miles. Christian Bale leaves nothing on the table-- and you can tell when an actor really enjoys the role...
Fantastic film. The racing scenes are the best ever put on the big screen to date. The noise and shots of them incredible cars takes you right into the driving seat. And great true story about spectacular Anglo/American engineering and human achievement.
@@michaelryan2925 What a stupid comment. I can just imagine how horrible it would be to watch any video made by you " Hey, just press the pause button" Yea, because putting up a simple question card in the video should fall back onto the viewer to fix. What a deadset dickhead.
Sounds like the character was a bit of a perfectionist which I think Bale might be too. He likes things done properly. Probably playing an actual person he has more to base his role on instead of just inventing his interpretation of someone. He is phenomenal he's up there with Daniel Day Lewis.
Great commentary on Miles by Bale. That refusal to give in is what killed Miles. And Miles' talent as a mechanic and fabricator....Miles would (and did) fix a race car he crashed, before he'd allow himself to go to the hospital. Broken ribs, but he fixed the damned car first.
This movie is fantastic. I love my racing so it piqued my interest from the start. However my mother doesn't care for cars at all, and even she loved this movie. Like Christian says, it's not about the racing. Its about WHY they race, it's about the humans and the issues surrounding the sport and the industry. Its really well done, I'm so happy for it. Plus it brings more awareness to Ken Miles and his importance in Motorsport.
I didn't know until this movie the hero named Ken Miles, now, he belongs into my personal best drivers of all times list. He was one of the greatest, I can compare him (in the way he drove) without any fear to go "flooring" like Airton Senna... Those were fearless guys.

I remember being at the 24 hrs of Le Mans back in the early 80's it was great then it must of been even greater back when the GT40's were there in the 60's.
Bale won me over with his mesmerizing performance in _The Fighter._ His performance in this film is incredible and augmented by Damon's more subtle spot on execution.
He's an intense actor , as an artist it was harsh to see him and Ridley attempt exodus ...but Christian will always be at the top circle of actors ...great range of characters
I remember a NASCAR driver, forget who, talk about racing at 200-210 mph describing setting a track record lap over 230 mph. He said just the extra 15-20 mph faster was night and day, to do that for 3 plus hours was insane.
Biggest irony was that ken miles served in British army during second world war , ken miles from 1939- 1946 ,even being a D day veteran, and the fact that Henry ford senior was one of Hitler's first financiers ,Nazi Germany award Henry ford a medal 🏅 and Hitler treasured a picture of Henry Ford senior,
Yeah Le Mans...was the old course obviously....it was flat out from corner to corner,I believe there was two or three monster straights with just a 90 degree corner at the end in the dark and rain it must have a little sketchy, the circuit now has 3 or 4 switch backs added in because modern cars go well over 200mph and because of the long straights don't run a lot of down force to keep the cars on the ground because they loose top speed...so its change a little..but still a test...
Really, back in the day (pre-1989) the Mulsanne Strait was just short of 4 miles of strait. It is really the only part of the old course that the cars could attain top speed. Back in 1990 it was drastically slowed down with a couple of chicanes strategically placed that forces the cars to slow to under 50 MPH. This had to be done because too many drivers have more balls than brains.
Kellie Nicole Brooks Schettino ...the movie is supposed to be set between the years 1964-1966. Ford Motor Co. first entered LeMans in ‘64, and after 2 disappointing years, finally swept the top 3 spots in 1966.
Batman Begins (2005) and Superman Returns (2006) should’ve led up to Batman v Superman. Both movies were one year apart from each other. Not to mention, it grossed more money at the box office than Batman Begins. I Am Legend teased a crossover between them for May 2010. The billboard in Times Square had Christian Bale’s Batman logo and Brandon Routh’s Superman logo merged together.
Yep- most people don't realize Ken Miles was a WWII tank commander and I think the majority those guys who lived through all that had very little use for petty crap and wanted to live. It would be wonderful to watch Christian Bale play himself. A character study of himself by him. A movie where the real Christian Bale play a Hollywood actor who is Christian Bale..

That last part when he said that they actually got the sons of the original racers to portray their fathers in the film...that is just awesome.

Just saw this movie. Fan-frickin-tastic! Everybody in the cast was great, but Bale (as usual) stole the show. See it in a theater if you can!
Greatest actor of this generation
People with so much Love for a craft and a field should get all the luck and blessings to be the best...and Bale is the Best
He has been the only actor to pay the role of ‘Batman’ that really got it, DC has suffered since he left
Christian Bale and Leo Dicaprio are 2 actors I will watch in any movie.
...And Tom Hardy
Bale, Hardy and Trejo
Also Jake Gyllenhaal
Bale, Hardy, Phoenix, Leo, Crowe & Reeves
Haha, these three really are rivals Bale, Pheonix and DiCaprio & they are phenomenal in every movie they starr in
Finally, an interview with his REAL accent !
All of his interviews for 5 years or so have been in his real accent
The lighting choice for this interview is amazing. Looks simultaneously modern and 60’s vintage, when the movie is set.

What type of man is willing to do that? That's a fascinating man. Pretty sure Bale loved playing this character. He's a fascinating man himself.
Racing man,..... hard to explain. The perfect lap for one. Speed, sound, smell,..... smell. Tires and oil and high octane gas turning into exhaust.
Either leave the question cards up for longer than a blink of an eye so they can be read, or take them out all together.
Somebody! Give this man a like!
I read your comment and cursed the millisecond the question was on screen.... then near the end I found the pause button
