That is so cool that people stop you in the street and you have always that beautiful smile of yours to welcome people. I love it. I wish I had met you when I went to Japan on the end of September beginning of October. We had such a wonderful time this year 2024 when we visit Japan, it was a family trip and I got a lot of your tips. And visit so many places! Thank you so much and keep on being that beautiful person that you are God bless you.
John, it was a pleasure to watch this video. I lived just north of Ueno in the Ryusen neighborhood of Taito while working as a Program Monitor for NHK back in 2013. I used to walk up and down these streets nearly every single day when I had the time and went to so many shops, a lot of them sadly gone and used to visit the hidden shrine quite often hidden away in Akihabara. I am planning on being there in 2025 after a 6 year hiatus due to "The Event" and delays getting back. I want to visit my old block, but the apartment building I lived in was torn down in 2022 and to my knowledge is still open land over on Chayamachi Street a block from the Araki Pharmacy.
I've stayed in Ueno in 2023 and it is a very nice area of Tokyo! That part at the beginning where you met 3 people back to to back to back was amazing and wholesome!
Love Ueno and all that area. Great to see so many fans of the channel able to meet you. Like many, we've watched for years and it would be great to shake your hand and thank you for all you've done for us.
we walked from our hotel in akihabara to ueno, kappabashi and nippori just last week, I love seeing the little shops, and eateries that make Japan so special.
Hi John just came back from 3,5 weeks Japan. Thank you so much learning about how to enjoy Tokyo and ofcourse other parts of Japan in a different way. Loved going in to alleys or walking parts as you do always. I have seen so much in this way. Took me 6 years following you and making plans but because of this enjoyed my trip so much. I am so much in love with Japan now. Constantly smiling when i was there. Already making new plans for a new trip in 2 years. Arigato Gozaimasu John for all your tips and videos. Mata Ne!!!
I LOVE Ueno…stayed there in 2022. I’m actually going to be back in Japan in a few days, it’ll be my third time since they’ve reopened, definitely wanna check out the Asakusa Underground Street and that katsu sando machine near Akihabara. Pretty sure I’ve seen you go to both in your videos John.
My first (full) day ever in Japan started by going to Ueno and we decided to walk over to Akihabara in the afternoon (due to budget constraints) and oh boy, it was the best way to explore the city.
That's part of the thrill of the walk, bumping into people you know and chatting/ socializing with them. You never know what to expect, but glad you had a good time! Have a great day! Take care! 😊
There’s a reason why I preferred walking, overtaking, trains, or buses when I was in Japan. Heck if anything, that applies to anywhere that I would visit as well. And for that reason, I’m trying to live by a good quote from the anime, Hunter X Hunter, that I’ve heard and has really stuck to me. And I quote: “You should enjoy the little detours to the fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want.”
Hi John! I am officially 5 days away from going to Japan! 😊❤ I've booked a 2 night stay in Ueno as well! I'll definitely try this route and walk too! Arigatoo and hope I run into you somewhere in Tokyo or even Yokohama! ❤
Love that 3mins an Aussie find you. And yes ANA flights are dirt cheap from Australia, sale fare for under $1000 return. That cheaper than flying some destinations domestically within Australia
Hey John, im three days in and i find a lot of similarities with NY subway and Tokyo subway. Those stations without escalators and elevators are "punishers" for the elderly. I find the mayhem in shibuya and asakusa are wild. Cheers! Hope to see you in ginza one of these days :)
Don't feel bad about Shimura-san John! He gets a lot of business thanks to your influence! It's all good! Just a side note - my family walked down Ameyoko Street this past summer and I regret not stopping by Shimura's place. You mentioned it so much when you do live streams in the area in the past too, but we missed out. Next time!
I enjoyed the live stream John so many fans I’ve seen to talk to you that was fun and exploring more of the city and the secret shrine hope you enjoy the rest of your day
Aloha my brother. Caught the replay. I have yet to visit Ueno but because of your walking tour livestreams I'm really looking forward to doing this walk hopefully with you, Brandania and UFO Bob. Thank you for taking us along. 🤙
Mahalo ^_^ I’ve been here a lot the last few weeks 😂 they said I need to come back one more time for a “cleaning” … they’ve got quite a racket going on! Back in December when I have a day off again.
Akihabara is not as good as it was 35-40 yrs ago. I used to go there to buy any electronic components (semiconductor chips, processors, passive components, electron tubes and more), tools, and new/used test equipment. Today, there are about half the shops there used to be. And, many small electronic component shops are now owned by Chinese immigrant families (my experience anyway, because many components are now sourced from China? don't know). Ueno area is always nice, the Zoo and the Museums.
@@onlyinjapanGO Yes, that's a better way of describing the changes. 40 years ago I only knew of one Duty Free Store in Akihabara (they sold cameras, walkmans, ect... the store was upstairs near the station). Today there are around 20 duty free shops.
I still miss that old SEGA building. UFO catchers are a fun way to spend your coins as a tourist especially, you cant change coins back so if I can't use them all I tend to blow them at ufo shops
Impossible to watch this livestream without smiling all through it. John has such a positive personality! Need more people like him in the world.

Ueno, such a historic vibe.
I followed that hitch hiking vlog-

They are so so nice and it was fun seeing it online and going in person ...
Hello John , I am from Littleton Colorado which South of Denver. Hello my neighbor Denver. Great to see my State is visiting Tokyo. ❤
if the weather is not hot i would definitely take a walk from ueno to akiba like that.... coming in this coming sunday!
I liked the nice walk. Most interesting.
omg what wonders!!! would not have known about that eusa halal mart @22:34
I find your content a pleasure to watch. Thanks so much and have a great.🌸💃🏽
When I'm walking in Tokyo, always follow the raised railway tracks. It's a great way to get your orientation.
Thanks for your walk stream amid weak signal John. I will catch your next live real soon. Happy Halloween!

Currently in Takayama and I'm beating my weekly average walking in a days worth of walking here. Love it!

Walking is also good for health too

I'm so tempted to come to Japan, after watching your videos. I need to get my passport renewed. I've been thinking about next year sometime.😂
Tokyo Live Walk is still always my favorite
I always do that walk everytime I visit Tokyo!

A nice video is traveling for the handicap in Japan. If visitors cannot walk many blocks what are the attractions to visit and transportation.
Love this stream
Bicycle is very useful in tokyo if you can use. You don’t need to board the train and able to go almost city you want.
Thank you! My son and I will be there in 2 weeks. Staying in Ueno. Looks like a walk we will do. Subbed. Peace.
Thank you ^_^
I love these walks. Any chance you will make a night walk again?
Leo is too cute!
John really is popular to be stopped so many times.
I encourage it :)
I enjoyed the live stream John so many fans I’ve seen to talk to you that was fun and exploring more of the city and the secret shrine hope you enjoy the rest of your day
It’s great to meet people who’ve been inspired by the show! Inspired me back ^_^
Thanks John
I'm planning to create a home for battered seafood.
Can't wait to see the Watermelon Jackolantern 😹 47:37
I want to film it with Leo but he didn’t want to do it this morning 😂 maybe tomorrow AM JST. I see about a midnight snack tonight.
Tokyo is the most walkable city I've traveled. If only the Philippines had some too.
12:07 was there a sudden cut?
Signal of the live stream, when it’s too weak, it’ll cut in the playback.
@@onlyinjapanGO ah! Thanks John

I have been to Ueno station hundreds of times but never noticed the exterior
Right, you have to walk around to the front to catch it, not many do that.
Hi!! We'll be in Japan from November 6 to 13. Will the leaves have started changing by then?
The yellow, yes.
@@onlyinjapanGO thank you!!
Ueno was Poppin'😂
Lol so many stream snipers 🔥
I had no idea this guy is so famous !
I’m no celebrity but since 2013 my videos have been seen about half a billion times 😉
@@onlyinjapanGOReally ,that’s quite an achievement ,congrats👍
@@onlyinjapanGOQuality content John. Hope to bump into you on the streets later this year 😊
❤
I missed the snacks here 😢
R u still doing the discord?
I just got kicked out of it for some reason
Yes, that’s odd - the link is mentioned in every live stream chat :)
I average like 2k steps on a good day at home, working remotely full time. My body can’t keep up with the 10-15k steps a day in Tokyo 😭
It’s my goal to find you when I’m in Japan in March/April 2025. 😂
Japan. The only place on Earth where a root canal 🦷 is an eleven visit dental procedure. Seriously absurd. 😂
What is that weird beeping sound? Is it a bird that you can't find in Europe?
It’s a crossing walk light that beebing !
Sorry,I had to laugh 😂 🐦 =🚦
@@loudsisi7895 No problem😂

WHOA! Everyone found you, John!!! You know it is going to be great when we run into John. 🎉❤ Folks chase you down! 😂
Definitely visiting that Trigger Happy cafe in 2025
Let me know how it is, quite a name and concept! ^_^
Avoid APA hotels, the owners are gross people.
