Thats his whole character arc, he's perfection involves a lot of casualties, like how rocket is just a expendable step to his perfect beings. Adam warlock to him is just another tool to get rocket

Perhaps his thought process was that Adam Warlock is the perfect specimen among the imperfect Sovereign race he created. So he's "perfection among imperfection" to the High Evolutionary whilst Rocket was the only creation to ever surpass him in intellect. Even that's a bit of an understatement, since Rocket solved in about 12 seconds what the High Evolutionary AND his team of elite scientists couldn't.
He thought it would be overkill if he waited. He's overconfident not cautious.
From the very beginning, it was very obvious that Adam isn't cut out for the evil side. As the movie went on,I felt like he also found it easier to help rather than destroy

Turns out there’s 3 forms of Magus, one who is his future self who has turned evil, one who is the evil half of warlock after he splits the good and evil from his body using the infinity gauntlet, and another where Warlock dies and is resurrected as an evil child by the universal church of truth.

He was taken from his cocoon early and not yet mature, and was still able to defeat the Guardians.
He is not underpowered, he is still learning.
Marvel has a hierarchy and doesn't want to many overpowered characters at once. Maybe later he'll get stronger. We had to wait for Thor to start getting a little stronger at Infinity War

@@shiroiidakku No experience and power level are two different things. Superman is more experienced and is definitely stronger than shazam.
Everyone throws around experience as a reason for Adams performance in the film, which is true but an important thing that was mentioned was that he had a premature birth. He is not as strong as he was intended to be. Which is why explosions harmed him. No amount of experience can increase your actual base power level, just your skill with it. Adam still has to actually grow stronger, if he's capable of still growing stronger at all.
Yeah people freaking out about Adam warlock don’t understand that this isn’t the last we’re gonna see of him in the mcu. They explained that he has the mind of a kid because he was literally just born, so he will get better over time.

Adam Warlock was my favourite part of the movie. Every bad thing he did was at the direction of his mother, but every time he had the opportunity to make a decision of his own, he always had good instincts

I mean the fact he isnt at his most powerful just yet allows more room in future films to explore his development.
To further explore this, although rhodey in Iron man 1 isn't the same situation as Adam warlock, but having him present despite not having a major role allows us to see his development in future films. Where he has more room to do things and have his moments. This can be applied to Adam warlock if they do it correctly. I prefer seeing him not as powerful here and make mistakes so when he is at full power in the future films we can look back here and be like "wow, this guy really has gone from one end of the spectrum to the other"

It’s confirmed in the movie the reason he is childlike was because he was released to early from his….. idk what to call it hibernation or whatever period, so in the process of waking up to early his is less matured

You’re absolutely correct that he was shoehorned in, but unlike venom broadly, Adam warlock still worked.
It’s very obvious in the movie that he was literally born yesterday. He’s like a baby who hasn’t learned to walk yet, all this massive energy absolutely dripping from his body, but completely unable to use it. Take the scene where he absolutely fried that dude, he just vaporized him like it was no big deal, completely unaware of just how much damage he really did. James Gunn is a very intelligent person, and he managed to take a character who was very much a studio decision and make it work. And it worked to the point that he’s really one of the only characters I want to see more of right now.
He literally clapped the entire Guardians and only lost because he was destracted beating the shit outta drax. And i never felt like he was in danger, he reminded me alot of a child which he his

I’m actually kind of glad that Gunn took the time to write that in the script. It’s like you said he didn’t take away from the franchise characters and let them finish out this chapter of the Guardians. I hope we see much more of Adam. IMO Will crushed it! There have been a few castings that had me scratching my head and I’ll be honest he was one of them. But I always give credit where credit is due and he was awesome (like I said IMO).

Also, if ya wanna stretch it, he's the reason peter, gamora, rocket, and groot were even on the ship to "save" drax, neb, and mantis. He kinda caused the whole thing, its almost like he was planned.

He was like 5 weeks old, Warlock probably didn’t understand how strong and powerful he really is.
I just hope his involvement gets better. I get he was basically a child in this movie but more like it’s crazy powerful and there needs to be movies related to that.
When he first came out in the comic books, he was definitely under powered. It was over time and to the infinity gauntlet that his cosmic power levels increased. He was dead for like 15 real years before that.
Gunn actually made it really clear in the movie why and it made sense

I know it does make sense, but it just shouldn’t have been done that way. He arrived so late, TOO late to say he needs all this time to grow and get acclimated. This would’ve been like if Tom’s Spider-Man had received his powers, like, 3 days before Civil War and Tony had to literally MAKE HIM into Spider-Man, and the excuse was “well he’s new! He’s young! He’s not peak Spider-Man yet!”

The important part of this video is that he was JUST let out of his cocoon. He neither knows, or has access to his potential yet.
When I say I cried so hard at this movie, I did. It wasn't just because of Rocket's backstory, that was extremely heartbreaking, or that the group split up. Its because its gone. Its ended. I hate that it's ended and I know, if it gets re made that it won't have the original group. I really hope they don't try and pick it back up otherwise it will ruin the closure we have gotten here. Amazing movie

Adam was just born, he's still a child at heart and needs to grow into the godlike powerhouse he's destined to become. Give him some time to learn how to use and hone his powers and then we'll judge.
For now he's just golden Drax.
It makes sense he’s got the mind of a young child who doesn’t know the full potential of his powers. And he’s also a brand new MCU superhero so it makes sense to make learning more about his powers part of his character development like Thor, Scarlet Witch, The Hulk, ETC.
Honestly he became my favorite character in the movie.. He’s so lovably pathetic and I love it.

I feel like Rocket was the final piece to Adam Warlock in this MCU. If they allow it, he will develop along with the new Guardians. This crew technically has more cosmic power than ever before since Starlord’s powers were dormant and most likely still are. This should be interesting going forward.
I feel like he will grow stronger as he appears more in movies growing into his powers and strengthen them.
If i remembered right in an interview james gunn regrets putting adam as the end credit scene for guardians 2 cause the rest of marvel wasn't gonna use him in infinity war/endgame

In the comics he actually disappeared for several years and came back way weaker than he was before but more educated, more calm and in control and way wiser.
Also the fact that his main power source, the soul stone, was not only destroyed, but also completely ignored. It was only and actual thing until the very last movie that it was actually needed in, and then we didn't even see any of its powers. For what was the first ever infinity stone ever created in the comics, they sure just straight up ignored it and told it to fuck off.
What made me a bit upset is the fact that they hyped up Adam so much in the guardians 2 post credit scene, saying that he would be the one to defeat the guardians, and then he turns out to be a goofy side character
Well, he almost killed Rocket. The High Priestess didn't expect the Guardians to fight back that hard lol. He was goofy, yeah, but I sorta liked this version. If you'd read the comics, I could understand why you wouldn't like him though.
They made him more likeable and interesting than the comics version, that’s better than just raw power. People call captain marvel a “Mary Sue,” but when they make sure not to overpower a character, people complain…
@Bonaboo they made cap marvel overpowered because she's a female. all of the female characters in the mcu have power levels comparable to their comic counterparts but all of the male characters were nerfed.
To be fair, Adam was taken out of the cocoon too early. So in later films, he will be powerful.

James gunn clearly knew what he was doing, adam is if not THE most powerful marvel character, so making him a day old is so it gives his character a chance to grow and become the powerful warlock he is.
They literally said multiple times in the film he had just been awakened with his 'birth' being rushed. Its pretty obvious he just hasn't matured nor obtained mastery of his powers yet
