These videos are so satisfying to watch because you are looking at something that is rusted, broken, almost destroyed be renewed and useful and pleasant again. Not so much in our everyday lives. It's a good feeling to watch. Thank you.

I’ve seen some over engineered bells in my time, but that takes the biscuit. Nice job. Very good restoration.

Since this video is 3 months old, you have probably figured this out already, but @ 7:27 you asked why the wheel doesn't look smooth... 4 main things affecting surface finish are headstock speed, feed speed(automatic feed! cant get good finish when hand feeding.), your tool and thickness of the cut. General rule of thumb is when doing smooth surface you want to increase headstock rotating speed and decrease tool feed speed and take thin cut. Now there is more things affecting surface finish, like your tool profile, thickness of the part you are making (maybe it bends!), sharpness of the tool etc.

In this case the choice of material is a severe disadvantage to good finish. A bolt like that is a low to medium carbon steel, AND work hardened to a medium to high degree. This makes a fine finish very difficult with an edged tool. Grinding would be better. Also dimensions can be hard to keep within spec when using material of this kind. There are stresses in the mayerial that will make it move as material is removed.

I have seen these in books amd probably old catalogs. They had some popularity. Probably to scare off live stock. However, they would probably fail in wet weather?! Good work!

this is probably 1920 to 1930s if it was nichel plated for sure before 1930 but the bolts seems to be after 1910. I'll say 1920s. Also to be said usually they had a kind of rubber mini tire on the wheel
