Not a bad restoration overall . For future projects , I have a few suggestions . Learn to weld . Soldering the case really isn't a good repair . Make sure you get ALL the rust and oxidation off of the parts . The planetary gears that you put back in had rust on them still , which may cause an issue down the road . And when pressing bearings into a shaft , press on the central part of the bearing . That way you're not putting the pressure through the balls from the outer to the inner to press them .
@@davidjohnston5329 I know the difference . That isn't brazing . In brazing you get the metal red hot and melt and flow a rod into the crack . I've never seen brazing used for aluminum or an alloy . And that was definitely NOT brazing .
For future reference. Corroded cast aluminum can be considered to be about as strong as glass...maybe even weaker. To make it stronger go ahead and clean and polish it first. Polishing/ wire brushing, helps remove the surface corrosion and reduces the stress risers it creates. A polished surface is probably almost twice as strong. The act of polishing will also warm the casting allowing it to expand slightly. A little melted wax or lanolin based lubricant can be wicked in to help release it from the plastic. Also a band type radiator clamp could be added at the top of the groove to help make sure it doesn't crack.
Wow that was impressive with the switch toggle! Just curious why you didn't go with 3d printed plastic for that part. Metal must have been a pain in the neck.
@@davidhamm5626 You know, I thought about that afterwards as well. The 'charge collar' thing for the battery was 3d printed, so I assumed he has one, but then that could have just come as part of the kit.
Hello there. Are you spraying some sort of solution on these tools to cause them to rust. Iv never seen rusty plastic until this channel. All for bringing them back from some sort of sorry state but to cause that for views…
"it is fractured" uhmmm no, you fractured it by being heavy handed. I had to stop there... broken bolt then breaking the housing? Yeah peace out for all your future tool renewals sir.
Bardzo super jest odrestaurowania ta Makita wkrętarka do drzewa pozdrawiam serdecznie. 👍👍👍👍👍
Bringing a tool back to life after being in this condition is awesome
Nice work, I have the current 18V version of this impact and surprisingly the internals are not that much different.

The ability to weld is a nice talent to have...
Would JB Weld have worked better? Soldering on what appears to be aluminum may not bond well.
That is called brazing, not soldering.

@@f75gunslinger aluminium will melt before it starts to glow red. Perhaps you have seen other metals than aluminium being brazed.

You certainly went to a lot of work to dismantle everything and make it good as new 👌
Very cool. And good job.. everyone needs a novelty. Just like the electric car from the 50s
Think of using that thing on its original ni-cd batteries.
Man, just dismantling was quiet a job❤
Hay quá ad ơi. Ad cho hỏi mình xài mỡ bò gì vậy???
Nice work! 😉👌
Здравствуйте ! Предположу что это гайковёрт, а не шуруповёрт
Hello ! I'm guessing it's a wrench and not a screwdriver.
Nice restoration
Nice work dude 👏👏
while restoration was good, that motor is going to rust very very soon without any coating.

I could not have does the really fine work either. Not everyone has a 3-d printer, and how would you use it to make that part?

да да , шлифанул металл , двигло и все размеры у деталей остались прежними , ничего не люфтит , все работает как новое 🤣

the case has still fracture, soldering not the good solution... xD
Buy an old thing, throw it in a puddle, take it out a month later and restore it. This is the content. For the weak-minded. 🤕
In many cases, yes. For this channel I don't think that is the case.

You told him, alright.
алюминий с литиевой смазкой корродирует во влажной среде, это нужно учитывать
oh dear please dont do anymore , its painful
