- Hello all Iron Maiden fans! 37 years after the release of the album Somewhere in Time, many could witness a live performance of Alexander The Great. I am also one of those lucky ones who could admire this track during The Future Past tour. I really like this song and I decided to record a cover that I want to present to you. I hope you like it. Thank you very much. To be honest, I would like to complete all the cymbals first (at the moment I managed to get Paiste Heavy Full Crash 22"). Gong is a big expense that I can't afford unfortunately. Maybe one day it will fall out of the sky and hit me in the back 🤣.

Great cover! The snare head however calls for a replacement, it sounds at times like it's a cheap e-drum. Fenomenal tone of the toms, that's why the snare sound stands out so much.
I'm glad you like my performance. When it comes to the snare sound, I think it's a matter of taste. I'm always looking for the perfect sound that I think fits the song. I realize that I may not suit every listener's taste. Every suggestion is important to me. It always changes my point of view. Thank you.

@@mrsayang I'm planning to cover this song. But to make a good cover I have to spend a lot of time to practice all the difficult elements well. I just want to make sure I can play the song from start to finish. Unfortunately, I don't have much time right now. But thanks for the suggestion :)
@@Guzzik17 oh yes, that is a real hard one. The galloping single bass drum is really challenging.
@@mrsayang Single bass drum is not a problem. Tom and snare rolls are more challenging for me. Especially the moment after the chorus.
You are a phenomanal drummer..love watching you but please keep to the over drum camera, it shows everything you are playing. Why the other camera angles? You are blocking off what you are playing from other angles

Thank you for this comment. Initially, I recorded from one take, but it seemed so typical to me. I thought I'd take more shots. Of course, the main shot is from above, which in my opinion shows the most interesting moments. Just like the shot of the bass drum, in which I mainly want to show Nicko Mcbrain's characteristic playing. The frontal shot should complete the whole. I don't want to hide anything, because everything is visible. I'm glad you like my videos and I appreciate it very much. I make sure that my latest films contain as many shots from above as possible. I would like everyone to find something for themselves in my videos. What matters most to me is to reproduce the style and sound as close as possible to the original, which is very difficult. By the way, I'm not a professional drummer. I just like to play for fun. But if what I do looks good, I'm very happy.

Great cover! Tell me, do you trigger the snare, and if so why? The snare sounded more lively during the intro.
Thank you for comment. I don’t use triggers. Sound depends on power and EQ parameters. In the intro I play very soft so I can capture sound of snare wires as I want. I've been looking for the perfect snare drum sound for a long time. I think I'm very close. but the perfect sound is a matter of taste. 😃
@@Guzzik17 Ok, perhaps I am hearing the gate open for the snare when you hit harder? The sound changes between weak and hard hits?
@@staffanlundholm I use duplicate tracks with different EQ parameters to emphasize the springs and the hard hit of the snare separately. The transition between a light and a strong hit is audible, although it may not be the best here.

nice kit! @2:50 : how are you able to play a fla on the snare and the ride at the same time? ;-) maybe the mix with the original track
@frederichugenell5538 thanks for comment. It's a matter of practice. I've always liked Nicko McBrain's style of playing the ride cymbal. That's why I practice a lot to get a good synch with the snare. What you hear in the mix is the sound of my ride cymbal, not the ride in the original track.
