Thanks for the feedback. No pest problems shed is treated quarterly for insects I inspect every hat before it is sent out haven't had pest issues. Stickers are fine only concern would be leather/suede hats then we put it on the fabric. Brand new hats come with stickers ..... Picking the hats is in order. We pick them from box 1 all the way down to box 250. We can pick 50 hats in about 30 minutes by sorting by custom sku when we pick. You will always have to condense your inventory as things sell. The time it would take me to place 50 hats I list in a day in separate boxes and then go back and fix the inventory is a waste of time. Just fill up 2 new boxes with the new inventory all in the same box. It makes the front end listing process faster too and minimizes the potential for error because each set of 25 goes in the same fresh box. Moving things in batches actually reduces possible errors and makes errors much easier to spot when something (or a batch) is out of place. Getting boxes exactly the same size was not the point of the video. Being off by 1/2 inch is not detrimental to the storage system. I just showed it works. The sterilite totes will not fit, will be really expensive and you will lose capacity and waste space. Thanks for the thoughts and feel free to share the video of your set up.
Thanks for the tips.. I am currently storing hats in fruit flat boxes, but I like your idea in cutting my regular inventory boxes in half. Good thinking!
You’re videos are great and you do a great job of explaining everything you do. I am still unclear of one thing - why do you need to put stickers with unique numbers on each hat? You use the custom sku field for the storage box, so where/how do you use the unique number on the stickers? It seems like it might be a little extra cost and effort without benefit, which probably means I’m missing something.
I enjoyed this. Thanks for putting it together and sharing with us. It is clear your passion for the hats and thought process combines to make this a great business for you. Best of luck with your channel in the future!
Some hat sellers recommend cleaning a dirty hat while others suggest that dirty hats are more "authentic". You're clearly in the "clean it" camp, but what are your thoughts about not cleaning? Is that really an option?
Hey there, I am looking to set up a specific are in my storage unit for hats. I mostly sell clothes so the amount of space needed for them is a little more in the height department. I am wondering if you can point me to what shelves you are using exactly so I can make a more informed decision.
@@HatHouse79 I appreciate it! I use the black w/ yellow top bins , smaller ones have 2 levels but the biggest version u can fit 3 levels with a custom cut cardboard divider, it helps me because I put a # on the outside of a bin + in the listing picture, so when it's time to pull I get a work out/ it's pretty easy to pull out of the bins
I was wondering what your source is obviously not the actual source but would you say this is more Thrift and Garage sales, are they mostly private wholesale buys? Appreciate the videos and the knowledge you have share thus far.
Great question. I started at Goodwill (ours has auctions you can bid on things like a tub of hats.) Met some people there passed some of the hats I didn't want to them. Then, eventually, the role reversed, and I buy the hats I want from them. I pay a little more but I hate auctions and flea sourcing. Buy some lots on ebay, goodwill and other auction sites, but ultimately it's about being known as a consistent quality buyer so you can get a heads up when something is listed. Don't low ball peole take care of them if it's worth it and they will be ready to sell to you again.
Awesome appreciate your answer, I’m working on some RA for hats and some wholesale not much but going part time in my 9-5 so I can spend more time sourcing and hopefully dropping it altogether.
Let me know if you have any questions about our process!
That is pretty neat and well organized she’d and you sure have a big inventory on hats. Please keep up the awesome video for the reselling community
Thank you! Will do!
I use the Ezy Storage Karton 24.4qt Clear Boot Boxes that I get at Target for 5.49. They have lids so they are stackable.

Another GREAT video! Curious -- do you have a lot of Damp Rid around the shed? My concern would be mold/mildew from humidity :)
Great question! Yes we do have some damp rid. Also important we run fans out there air movement really helps with this too.
awesome. that makes sense! :). May I ask how much the shed cost? I've been contemplating getting one as well

Great video as always! Did anyone else get faked out by the cha-ching sound at 5:05 thinking it was from their phone?
Lol I need to sneak more of them in my current videos. I stopped doing it.
That’s awesome
Thanks!
I am going to start watching from your first video.
Thank you!
I hadn't sold a hat in a week or so on eBay but while watching your video I sold two....I"ll have to watch more often! GeezerPicker

Cool looking store! thanks for sharing keep it up
Thank you! It's a lot of work keeping it moving! 💯
How and why did you get into selling hats?
I always loved hats and when we started selling on ebay I happen to run into a huge lot that got me started.
@HatHouse79 are there any hats that don't sell?
Some hat sellers recommend cleaning a dirty hat while others suggest that dirty hats are more "authentic". You're clearly in the "clean it" camp, but what are your thoughts about not cleaning? Is that really an option?
I've sold thousands of hats in all conditions. 99% of the time I get more money for a clean hat.

Search 72x36x14 on walmart.com 5 shelf wire
Ive got a system for you that would be awesome to talk about storing 50,000 hats
Feel free to share. My email available on the page.

Just out of curiosity. How many hats on average do you sell a day?
Right now about 20-30 per day. It will pick up in November and then the busiest time is actually spring.
