We do our clothes with a number system like that. We write the number with a sharpie right now but Robert has been thinking about changing to using labels to make them easier to see. Putting labels on small items that we store in baskets would be a big change for us and I'm not sure how well it would work out. It would make mistakes less likely though when we have two items that are very similar. I know them items really well so it's not too much of a problem but would be if we ever decided to hire someone to help us.
Yea numbering things in a basket is something I have thought quite a bit about. It would definitely help with employees. I have seen people try to put sticky notes on small items but they just end up falling off. I don’t like putting stickers directly on items either, so really the only option I can think of is to put the items in a bag and then the sticker on the bag.
Very helpful video! I learn a lot from all your videos. Really appreciate the list of supplies and where you get them as well. For those wondering what actual size zip bags Josh is using, I deduced the following based on the link, the size of the box, etc. and the fact he said 500. Since they have to be a few inches TALLER and slighter WIDER than his 8" wide x 8" tall box, those must be 10"x12", [Spartan Industrial - 10” X 12” (500 Count) 2 Mil Clear Reclosable Zip Plastic Poly Bags with Resealable Lock Seal Zipper]. I plan on ordering them in September.

Love this video. I just bought all the supplies to get myself organized and just bought all my supplies this past week, just happen to buy the exact stickers you have there, rather then making my own like I saw others doing. This is exactly how I was planning on doing it. I'm very visual and learn that way so this video is helping me prepare. Just waiting for my supplies to get here.
Glad you enjoyed it! I just changed to printing off my own numbers, but we encourage anybody starting this system to just buy them at first in order to keep things simple.

Yea bins have there uses, but you have to remember to put big items in big bins and little items in smaller containers. Trying to find an action figure at the bottom of a bin full of jackets is absolutely horrible.

Nice video thank you. I see in your store you have many Denim Jeans, do you drop them in the bags like the fabrics or do you use rails. Im wondering which might be most efficient use of space. If i was guessing id say Bags in the trays/box with numbers?
Yes the majority go in the bags with the numbers. Some of the plus sized jeans don’t quite fit and those just go in totes with other Misc inventory.

I feel like shirts are ok in the 8 inch wide box but do you also put pants and sweaters in the same size clear bag and fit them into the same size box?
Yes pants and sweaters fit just fine. Large jackets and bulky winter clothing goes in totes.
What do you use for inventory list? And also do you have more than one list? (Sold,inventory)
I don’t keep a line by line list of details on each item. I use a cash basis for my accounting and not accrual. It is useful to do item by item accounting when you first start to get a better understanding of profit on each item.

Why don't you put tiny items in bags with numerical system? Is it for inventory checks?
In the current numerical box system I have I’m worried that small items in bags would fall to the bottom of the box and get lost. I could have a second numerical system for smaller items with smaller boxes and bags, but that just doesn’t feel like a good way to go. I might try it in the future, but I’m happy with what I have right now.
I've seen this system before I like it but I have question. How do you check to see if something is no longer listed for any reason? I've had stuff listed ebay and randomly once I go through my bin would find least couple items not up. If I short by A2 sku I can see 20 items and count if I have 20 then they are all listed. This numerical system you are constantly refilling the boxes unless I took a box and compared first number and last (105-129 but only 10 items because few gaps) then checked the online sku list. Feels like it be very tricky. Also on the 4 digit stickers go up to 9,999 with 7,400 listed and 100% sell through wouldn't you get up to 14,800. I get speedwise just skipping numbers and merging is faster but having trouble wrapping my head around if especially with keeping the bags. Probably from working in library in college. Just started finally using bag system digging in my totes was getting old, so much more space sufficient with clothing.
Anything that is unlisted should eventually end up in the oldest boxes as things get condensed. I agree sometimes things aren’t listed when they should be, but they will eventually all work their way to the oldest boxes. I don’t store everything in this system. I do use boxes for larger and smaller items that don’t fit well in this system. It’s also really easy to just add an extra digit when you need to.

Why don't you reuse the same number if you keep that bag?
Putting items back into the right spot in the inventory system would take a lot longer. Plus having the items in order that you listed them helps you find them if you make a mistake entering the custom sku on ebay.

Can someone help me. I have a clothing item on Ebay and for some reason when I look at my seller's dashboard it says no views. I don't understand. I sold the exact same item 4 times but in a different color and I had views (clicks). Does anyone know if Ebay and even Poshmark, did they change their algorithm? I have been selling on Ebay and Poshmark. Poshmark has more sellers on their platform then buyers. I'm getting really frustrated with Poshmark.
Usually the biggest factor is just price. When I have items not moving 9 times out of 10 price is the issue.
@@josh_graff Thank you. it was so weird how the other items had views (clicks) but not this item and it was up for a month. Also do you use the promote your listing feature? When I do I sell more however the fee when the item sells is a lot.
@@josh_graff it's sad because I can not drop my prices any lower....Some of these buyers want everything for free. One lady got mad at me and gave me a bad review. My item was already low and she wanted $5 more off of the item., with free shipping....it was a brand new dress....OMG
