Thanks so much Sam and Mrs T. So many laughs and smiles amidst a sometimes painful story. Much to learn from: yes, about mental illness and state responses, but equally about human resilience and hope through better understanding.

I live with schizophrenia although its been years since I needed or took my Chlorapromazine.., has to come a point when you have to man the phuck up and get a grip of yourself.., but the end result is I have no friends or family around me (my choice).., I love sociology and I would imagine many schizophrenics would also?.., I have a rated IQ of 130 (130) seems to be the base line of all the tests I have taken.., you strike me as a seeker of knowledge yourself or rather enjoy learning about the aspects of the human mind?.., my journey into schizophrenia was forced upon me as the result of a violent childhood and domineering mother who never showed me any love.., I remember I must have been about 8 years old and my father (wont call him Dad) lost one of his slippers.., he sent me and my kid brother (God rest his soul) out to find it but he made it spicey.., he started to count down from 10.., 9.., 8.., 7.., 6.., and when he got to 3 I hid under my bed.., (My father was ex SAS).., I seen his feet walk into my room.., bed lifts up and.., I repressed what happened next.., a friend of mine offered me repression therapy I I said NO THANKS!.., took me a lifetime to forget the chit that happened to me in my childhood and I am in no hurry to revisit it.., but long story short I cry often and the oceans couldnt quench my rage.., thats why I keep myself to myself.

Hey Sam, just watching Netflix here about John Wayne Gacy and a former cop said what he done was carry round a coin, and what he would do at the end of every shift when he got home was place that coin in a cup at the door.., that represented his shift and how he left his work at the door.., and before he left in the morning he would put the coin in his pocket and repeat the process.., I thought that was an important lesson?

Your talking about CNR Sam, I was arrested this night buy the RUC (Northern Ireland) and I was abit gobby, was only in my early 20's living in east Belfast .., hands were cuffed in front of me and was placed into the back of the car.., the 3 officers were dealing with my mates asking them to let me go.., I wound down the window and opened the back door (because of the child locks).., mates were saying ffs let him go and I came up behind them and said ffs let him go.., I had had a few drinks.., well the cops manhandled me over to the car and cuffed my hands behind my back and tossed me onto the back seat.., one cop got in and sat on my legs and the other (ginger haired sergeant) got in the other side and sat on my back.., the ginger nut farted on my back and I went nuts and in the struggle my top half ended up in the footwell of the passenger side of the rear seats.., cop was still sitting on my legs and I could hardly breath and a few times I felt like I was passing out.., thank God it was only a 5 minute ride to Strandtown RUC station or I feel that I wouldnt be tapping on this keyboard right now.., it was that bad.

@@RealPorridgePodcast Thats not the worst of it Sam, when I was taken before the custody sergeant and poked the ginger nut in the chest saying what happened the sergeant punched me right in the mouth and dropped me to my knees.., didnt knock me out as I recall his mates restraining him (unlike US cops who would have joined in).., but after 15 minutes in the custody suit in Strandtown I was taken by car to Newtownards and my arrest time was altered to state I had never been in Strandtown and got the broken nose.., was a dark time back in the very early 90's over here and I cant say I blamed them because they were playing piggy in the middle between both Loyalist and Republicans.

Women are failed daily by an NHS and psychological service utterly underfunded and undertrained. My Mum was one of those women. The right, paced and balanced therapy and medication will help ex addicts and victims of abuse. John Lennon was spot on when he made his controversial statement that "women are the n-words of the world”.
