Louis is the greatest interviewer of all time, massive inspiration in the art of standing up for ones beliefs even when it's uncomfortable to do so in whatever setting. Absolutely awesome that you got him on here
Great podcast. I do like Loz, his contributions are often very insightful and generally brings the questions to a deeper meaning and feel than Brian's line of questioning. However he needs to work on his timing. Being a co-host is definitely a skill. His interruptions when Louis was mid flow of a story were very jarring.
exactly usually i find Lawrence mostly funny and sometimes annoying as a co-host but in this pod he was interrupting way too much and needed to relax abit
This is probably the most fair assessment. People give Laurence a hard time over tiny things but I think this episode he was overly excited and kept interrupting. I think some people are being way too harsh.
Every time Lawrence says something inappropriate or short sited and Louis gently corrects it so we can watch it without feeling awful about listening to it. Thank you, Louis! People are saying forgiving things about Lawrence in the comments as if to excuse him, I wonder if he's normally more evolved but was just nervous cause it was Louis Theroux?! Bless him.
Really satisfying to visit the comment section and see everyone telling Lawrence to stop talking so much. Constant unfunny one liners and Louis handled them by not acknowledging them in the slightest.
The fuck is everyone on this on about? I found the Brian guy to be far more irritating in the latter half of the interview at least. Interrupting mid-monologue, and insipid unfunny remarks.
Louis was on site at a Hospital I used to work at. Him and his team recorded over a period of months. He was so humble and down to earth, always greeted everyone and was laid back but very professional. It was a great documentary BTW...Good Guy
I've seen every documentary Louis ever made, listened to all his podcasts and have read both his books. Will be buying his most recent one as well. Massive fan of all his work. This was a pleasant surprise. You guys did a phenomenal job of interviewing him and not shying away from asking some of the tougher questions and even at times, taking the piss. Wish the interview didn't have to end when it did!

You know that feeling of annoyance you get when someone thinks they are very similar to you but actually are not on your level. When Louis met Lawrence.
This was unfortunately more of a struggle to watch than it ever should be! Lawrence, god, please, stop interrupting and cracking out one liners that aren’t funny. Louis Theroux is bloody gold and it was difficult to watch his wonderful flow and thoughts being halted. Shush man. Congrats Brian for getting on Louis, great accomplishment 👏 Louis was fabulous 🥰
Lawrence has such a deep seated need to be accepted as the funniest and smartest person in the room. Can tell Louis look right through him and was getting frustrated.
Completely agree. Full of really unfunny responses that you can tell throw the guest off what they were saying a little bit. Brian is a great interviewer but Lawrence just doesn't have the personality. I would love for Brian to do them on his own instead.
I've listened to this a few times now, as I do with most podcasts, and it's a great podcast. Brian has really really made himself into an absolute podcasting beast, very good questioning, and attempted to make the whole thing flow well. Lawrence, on the other hand, really needs to work on his timing and read the situation a bit better, instead of just almost losing control and feeling like he has to say something, especially when the guest is speaking and mid-conversation. At times, it felt almost cringy with Louis trying to get things back on track after Lawrence attempted to make a joke, which I don't think any of them hit well.
Well said GFAL... couldn't agree more. Brian doesn't need a sidekick, he is talented enough to carry this podcast on his own. Lawrence just pisses me off most of the time, but I always come back for Brian and his amazing guests.
Louis touching upon his 'borderline' drinking problem, further made me appreciate his normality/humanity. One of my documenting greats. Will be buying his book. ⭐

Lawrence honestly ruined this, he is the single reason I couldn't watch until the end. This screaming for attention with his jokes and constant interrupting was insufferable. This isn't just bad interviewer etiquette it's damn rude!. People are watching because they are interested in hearing what the person you are interviewing has to say, the spotlight should be on them so stop trying to jump in whenever they try to say anything whatsoever. I really hope that things change in future interviews. True Geordie, you did absolutely amazing man 👏, you clearly are a very talented and warm interviewer so thank you, genuinely. Take care and have an awesome night.
I’ve noticed that the more “Alpha” “Masculine” “hard” the guest is, the less Lawrence is inclined to interrupt. The Tyson Fury interview you’d be forgiven for thinking he wasn’t in the room
Louis made jokes back to him several times so it wasn't this pathetic vie for attention that you are making it out to be. You wanted a stuck up "Inside the Actors Studio" type interview and you didn't get it so you are taking it out on someone who is just doing his job the way Geordie hired him to do it. There are plenty of interviews with Louis that are exactly what you are looking for but this one isn't it and its probably not for you. Don't go to an ice cream shop and expect prime rib.

This kept me watching for the entirety. I would love for a second chat with Louis. A lot didn't get talked about and you guys made him feel like he could talk openly with you. Great questions with ever better answers
Stumbled across the channel on recommendation for you, so glad I did. This is the most decent interview/podcast I’ve watched for a long while. Thank you for the content. I love watching Louis Theroux docs & work, his character seems very humble, open minded but very intellectual. You can see why his documentaries work so well!
Fair play to Brian for for being a loyal friend and sticking with Lawrence. He’s absolutely insufferable. The more intelligent the guest the worse he gets. Has to cut in when the guest is halfway through there points. He’s like a puppy wanting all the attention. You can tell Louis can see through him.
Lawrence is impatient and interupts a lot, but he drived a lot of the conversation on this one. Feel this is a bit disrespectful. He knew way more about Louis' work on this one and asked a lot of very valuable questions. He was clearly nervous here, it's very apparent Lawrence admires Louis.
@@fenianlewis don’t agree with that at all. He disrupts as much as he drives. His inherent need to seem the most intelligent and funny in the room details the podcast multiple times. The fact I’m far from the only one making this point makes it my point.
@@liamk87 I’m not so sure, I agree with Lewis on this…. He made some pretty badly timed jokes, particularly in the first 1/3, but he had a lot to add, more than Brian imo, although Brian did bring some excellent questions and is an excellent interviewer in general, Lawrence really did a lot for this, you just have to look past some awkward moments. If you watch the mood, Louis does also engage with him a lot, and in terms of actual conversation and discussion, although not super common, I’d say the most engaged instances are between Lawrence and Louis, not with Brian. Overall I think Lawrence needs to hone his skill a lot more than Brian does, but to say he doesn’t have it is vastly missing talent
@@Happyfaceshock it’s not the fact I don’t think he is capable. I think it’s much more of an ego problem. Whilst Louis does engage him and responds, you can see at times he’s taken a back. I am willing to add for me,personally, I have let how much I hated the times when he makes it so weirdly awkward that I am letting it over shadow the good he does for the interview.
This interview would of been so much better with out Lawrence there, he drives the conversation but only in ways he thinks will make him look more knowledgeable about the guest or funny, he fails in both of these ways, he is awful and I wish Brian would just get rid of him.
I liked this. My second podcast ever and I think this is a great format. I dig Louis Theroux’s work and have seen a fair amount of his films - this is the kind of behind the scenes juice and retrospective take that just adds depth to the original, and my appreciation of the man through straight talking and questions. Smooth work. Cheers for this.
This was class man! My only disappointment was that it wasn’t 8 hours long… I could listen to Louis Theroux for days, he’s such an interesting and captivating bloke. Outstanding podcast fellas, well done… chalk that one off the bucket list! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great interview with the 🐐! Only constructive criticism would of been a 1 on 1 with Brian. I feel like Laurence has a tendency to crack the obvious smug jokes and it either throws off Louis story or interferes with the flow. Let the guest speak especially when it’s someone like Louis 👌🏽
@Sharks ditto with not leaving negative comments, hence constructive criticism, but his contribution is so disingenuous and unnecessary compared to Brian’s approach 😫
Guys, thank you for doing this podcast and releasing it so early in the year. ❤ 3 legends together chatting for 2 hours, brilliant way to spend a monday
Painful watch with Lawrence's endless attempts to steal the spotlight with lacking attempts at humour. Brian - [Alright he's took a bit far there] Lawrence - [no no, it was funny] Physically cringing at him telling Brian it was funny
Louis is one of my all time favourite story makers. Absolute legend, and it's nice to see people from outside the UK loving him too. It's so awsome (I am not being judgmental, it just is slightly humerous) thinking about Louis kicking back smoking some ganj and putting on some Ice Cube or something. What a man.
This trio just works, literally stuck to the screen the whole podcast! Lawrence and Brians humour works so well with Louis! reeally really enjoyed this one. Bravo lads!
Brian is absolutely smashing it been watching Brian for years hes had louis theroux, usman ,teddy atlas Michael bisping, keep up the good work Brian you deserve everything you have got 💯👏👏👏
I’m only 30 minutes in and it’s amazing but I wish they’d stop interrupting Louis, there are things he was talking about that I wanted to hear but was interrupted
Brilliant!!!!! This could have so easily been another 2 hours long.... Louis is a true legend of the TV world! Thanks True Geordie for this conversation.
I absolutely adored this podcast!!! Louis is one of the best we have in the UK, and you guys did such an amazing job interviewing the GOAT of UK journalism.
Wow. This was my introduction to your channel. You have set the bar high. Outstanding interview with one of my hero's. Thank you and keep up the good work.
This would have been better 1-2-1 with Brian. Laurence is just slightly offbeat and too keen to hear his own voice throughout. Louis didn't warm to him.
@@aidanchapman4989 there’s a point where it’s too much and Laurence goes over it every podcast, constant rubbish jokes that don’t hit and constant budging into the middle of either Louis or Brian’s sentences.
If I didn’t have a few glasses of wine probably wouldn’t have finished this podcast due to Lawrence (it ain’t about you mate) well done true Georgie and Louis is a boss as always
This is a rather good interview, i see a lot of comments on Louis being interrupted too often but I kinda think that people forget that that’s what normal conversations are n that the natural feeling of the conversation is what makes it so compelling, especially as Louis is such a great conversationalist
This is so interesting, I love watching Louis documentaries, it was fascinating learning more about him I will definetly be buying his new book. You interviewed him so wellasked some I sightful questions. apart from 1 of you interrupting which was annoying lol. Great podcast.
I personally dont think he did, Louis is naturally one of those characters who will challenge the narrative. He won't automatically agree and will come at it potentially from a different angle. I guess that, along with a number of other qualities, is what has made him such a good Journalist/documentary maker. Lawrence can be a bit too much but I actually think he added to the conversation on this one
Lawrence was so annoying. Brian even told him he took it too far at one point. He tried so hard to sound intellectual as well and he’s just not. Louis definitely disagreed with most of his points.
His answer to the final question…”how would you like to be remembered?”…. As a 19 year old lad who’s dad had left only a few years ago, it’s amazing to hear someone talk about their legacy and kids that way! What a Pod. What a Message. What a Man. 👏🏻🤩
On an extra note what a moment this must have been for you Lads, Brian and Lawrence give yourselves a pat on the back lads. You never fail to amaze me 👊🏻❤️
The most comprehensive interview of Louis I think I’ve ever seen, thanks Guys. You ask the questions that the average person would want to ask him, in a friendly non judgmental way. Bravo, superb podcast 👍🏻
Dude, Lawrence should have been nowhere near this podcast, so fucking annoying, it's not a comedy style podcast, and even if it was, he wasn't adding much comedy to it anyway.
He's legitimately ruining this for me. Only an hour in and there are so many cringe moments from him. Read the room ffs - Your "jokes" are going down like a lead balloon.
@@paulmcallister8948 I know they are but long form interview podcasts aren't the place for constant jokes, we're here to listen to Lawrence's stand up routine
What I love about this podcast and Brian’s podcasts in general is that I can listen to it during the day and take breaks and resume my listening so captivated by the great conversation they have.
Such a great interview, I could listen to Louis talk all day long, he's got some brilliant stories & I feel all like the questions asked were thought out, different & so enjoyable. I just bought his book (audible) & after watching this I am really looking forward to listening to it!
Fantastic stuff lads. Louis is a hero and it was an absolute quality 2 hrs. Loved that you didn’t put ads in between. Hope he comes back. People slaying Lawrence but he was well versed on his work and asked some great questions. Maybe just chill out a bit and let the guest speak. But absolute quality content. Enjoyed this interview BUT without being disrespectful the 3rd wheel of the interview clearly loves the sound of His own Voice and Asks questions without any time for Louis to respond without butting in ..
This is one of my favourite podcasts. Such a great guest! It’s good because Louis is literally from typical media. But understands social media and delved into this world too and is open to listening. This is such an informative podcast and also very interesting to listen to “pub chat” almost. Should make him a recurring guest!
40:10 I absolutely love it when Louis chats about the tunes he's into for a couple of reasons, his diction is so charmingly clear which highlights when he talks about hip hop/grime , and he knows his hip hop history which to anyone who is just being introduced to him would be surprising , in a good way
As a bloke Laurence comes off well. But as a podcast host his constant interruptions really mess with the flow of the interview and make it close to unbearable . Really feel this one would have been better with Brian solo
Brian is becoming such a good interviewer, just needs to dial down the Joe Rogan. Loz seemed more interested in being the funniest man in the room, not at his best. Loz aside still a great podcast, Louis so open and honest.

This is amazing. I was gonna go to bed but no chance I’m watching this now. Smashing it true Geordie. Louis is a legend. Much love to you guys
My disappointment was that Lawrence was present. Insufferable, interrupting and immature
He does it all the time. Always has to interupt the guests to make a smart ass little joke or comment
@Sharks ditto with not leaving negative comments, hence constructive criticism, but his contribution is so disingenuous and unnecessary compared to Brian’s approach 😫
I came to say exactly this. Loz frequently interrupts with a fairly low brow joke and it really throws Louis.
I like how Loius Theroux embraces these youtubers. It is as if he is passing on the flame and giving back to a new generation of documentary makers.
Lawrence interrupted Louis so much Jesus he's the guest, he's the reason we're watching LET THE MAN SPEAK 😂
The true geordie podcast is officially back, well done Brian and the team!
Glad that its back, quality of guest's has been through the roof
This was quality. Really glad Brian and Loz discussed BBC and Jimmy etc especially given Louis position in the company. Brilliant.
Guys, thank you for doing this podcast and releasing it so early in the year. ❤ 3 legends together chatting for 2 hours, brilliant way to spend a monday
Painful watch with Lawrence's endless attempts to steal the spotlight with lacking attempts at humour.
Brian - [Alright he's took a bit far there]
Lawrence - [no no, it was funny]
Physically cringing at him telling Brian it was funny
Louis is one of my all time favourite story makers. Absolute legend, and it's nice to see people from outside the UK loving him too. It's so awsome (I am not being judgmental, it just is slightly humerous) thinking about Louis kicking back smoking some ganj and putting on some Ice Cube or something. What a man.
@@dc56789 HAhaha you are so right, I can't help it but you know what I mean man, do your thing Louis, yeah how silly of me though haha
This trio just works, literally stuck to the screen the whole podcast! Lawrence and Brians humour works so well with Louis! reeally really enjoyed this one. Bravo lads!
With the exception of Lawrence I agree
@@rubberchix don’t think anyone cares
Brian is absolutely smashing it been watching Brian for years hes had louis theroux, usman ,teddy atlas Michael bisping, keep up the good work Brian you deserve everything you have got 💯👏👏👏
I’m only 30 minutes in and it’s amazing but I wish they’d stop interrupting Louis, there are things he was talking about that I wanted to hear but was interrupted
I love how respectful Louis is to the opinions/beliefs of his “characters”. Legend!
Agreed, Lawrence spoke too much on this.
@@archiewall124 Imagine saying someone talks too much on a podcast - Especially the co-host
@@aidanchapman4989 he’s literally interrupting the guest again and again and again with unnecessary unfunny comments.
@@aidanchapman4989 there’s a point where it’s too much and Laurence goes over it every podcast, constant rubbish jokes that don’t hit and constant budging into the middle of either Louis or Brian’s sentences.
He reminds me of Puff Daddy on a Biggie record, really annoying and close to ruining it.
If I didn’t have a few glasses of wine probably wouldn’t have finished this podcast due to Lawrence (it ain’t about you mate) well done true Georgie and Louis is a boss as always
This could be 10 hours and I would sit through it. Love Louis Theroux, what a legend. Was thrown off when he said he was into grime and drill 😂
This is fantastic, please get Louis back for more, I could listen to him all day
Wow, Louis Theroux is an icon!. Never expected to see him on your podcast. Looking forward to this.
Hearing Louis Theroux break down Hip Hop like that blew my mind. A viewpoint I never thought of and he’s probably spot on too 👏🏽
These are the kind of podcasts I love from Brian and Lawrence. Hope we see more a bit more consistently
It's been every week now for three weeks in a row exactly 7 days apart from each other I think he's properly taking the pod to the level it was before
So funny how Louis literally disagreed with everything Lawrence said from start to finish
like the reporter in "this time" who disagrees with everything alan partridge says
Honestly I'd listen to TG more if Lawrence wasn't such an annoying bastard lmao, he always takes things too far and doesn't know when to shut up
@@TheRhysmo1 Agree. They should mute his microphone while guests are speaking . Does your head in 😡
I personally dont think he did, Louis is naturally one of those characters who will challenge the narrative.
@@chrisb3487 exactly, louis' clearly not responding to them
Catch yourself on! They're a great double act! Lawrence does his share! 😀
@@paulmcallister8948 I know they are but long form interview podcasts aren't the place for constant jokes, we're here to listen to Lawrence's stand up routine
Can already tell I’m going to enjoy this pod more than Dorian Yates’. Louis is such a legend.
What I love about this podcast and Brian’s podcasts in general is that I can listen to it during the day and take breaks and resume my listening so captivated by the great conversation they have.
I made it to 1:34:01 before giving up thanks to Lawrence… cheers mate, was looking forward to this one.
Shits all over the JRE sit down
Great video geordie, how far you’ve come is incredible and there’s really no stopping you at this rate
Cringe
What a podcast. Brian and Lawrence great job boys. Louie what a guest thank you for being so honest. Watch this start to finish 😂 it's 02:35 am now I'm up for work at 7am so goodnight gentlemen. Keep up the content 🤟 Need a part 2 can't wait for that. Hit that bell button 🤟
Podcasts are good when the guests are interesting, what the hosts do is negligible
This is brilliant lads, the colour of the production and setting is perfect. A coffee and a chat with a generational talent. Top Tier.
One of the best interviews I have seen with Louis, going super deep cut with episodes that I have never heard him talk about!
Such a great podcast! Really interesting to hear the stories and self reflections come out. Absolutely scope for another one!
Unreal podcast, Louis was an amazing guest and a legend in the game. Brian you smashed it with the questions big up💪🙏🔥
40:10 I absolutely love it when Louis chats about the tunes he's into for a couple of reasons, his diction is so charmingly clear which highlights when he talks about hip hop/grime , and he knows his hip hop history which to anyone who is just being introduced to him would be surprising , in a good way
No fucking way have you got Louie Theroux on the pod! Can't wait to listen, so glad you are back doing more frequent podcasts
Goon
As a bloke Laurence comes off well. But as a podcast host his constant interruptions really mess with the flow of the interview and make it close to unbearable . Really feel this one would have been better with Brian solo
I hate to be a 'hater' but the True Geordie podcast really doesn't need a spare wheel.
And Lawrence is that spare wheel
Love it how Louis runs rings around Lawerence’s babble
Dude I could listen to Louis for ages…such a sick pod! 🎙We need a part 2 🙏🏻
Absolute legend!!! Read his 1st book and watched all his documentaries man, so good. Best guest yet! 🤝🤝
Hands down the best Podcast I've ever watched/listened to!
Amazing to see this side of Louis, what a legend he is!
You mustn't watch a lot of podcasts
Louis Theroux episode on Joe rogan was better. Plus there’s loads of joe rogan episodes better than this as well lol
Incredible watch, such a fascinating man. Would love to see a part 2!
I think this is one of Geordie's best podcasts. Two hours well spent!
Brian is becoming such a good interviewer, just needs to dial down the Joe Rogan. Loz seemed more interested in being the funniest man in the room, not at his best. Loz aside still a great podcast, Louis so open and honest.
You need to give Laurence the elbow during these big podcasts Geordie mate 🙈
