I really feel for Karl. I know he did harm but he was failed by every part of the system at every level. Just think how different it would have been if he had the support he needed from the start. How terrifying it must have been to believe the phychosis were real, and at the same time, to be in such an unsupportive and chaotic system that fought back with force while he was going through these episodes. I wish him a fulfilling and happy life full of peace and happiness. Bless you, Karl. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤
The lad was talking about solicitors, I was on remand for murder and my solicitor sent me a female barrister, it had nothing to do with the fact she was a female but I asked her how many murder trials she had done, she told me it was her first so I got up, thanked her for coming but told her I wasnt going to be anyone's guinea pig.., she may well have went on to be the best barrister but I wasnt going to take the chance.., got a new solicitor who provided a new barrister and a year later I was acquitted.., I want to say I didnt commit the murder and was 100% innocent.., just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
@@RealPorridgePodcast Life is all about experiences Sam and I have got to experience most of it, basic training in the British Army serving 3 years, being a loyalist paramilitary and ending up in Crumlin Road Prison during the early 90's, teaching myself electronics and then go on to be accepted onto an HNC course in electronics with no prior qualifications, raising 3 kids who now have kids of their own, growing up with domestic violence for the first 10 years of my life, raised my a violent father and a mother who showed me no love, being bullied at school and then becoming a bully, going to clubs in the 90's during the rave culture taking Ecstasy tabs and Acid Tabs, being addicted to solvents from the age of 12 to 14 and having profound hallucinations, watching the movie Shutter Island when they said the worst of the worst was doped up on Chlorapromazine to realise that I was prescribed that for 2 years because I was Schizophrenic.., oh I could go on and on but looking back at it all I feel blessed for the life I have lived.
Wow .. I have dipped in and out of your podcasts and its here where some of your best work is done. This fella is decent and really humble. Thanks, Sam. Pete 🏴
Again , I'm so proud of Karl. Beyond words. The stuff he has been through is unbelievable. He is such a strong fella. I don't think he realises how strong he is mentally. A life like his would of killed most people. But he didn't let any of the troubles or the system get him down and kill him. Much love karl! Your an inspiration to many people. Including myself! I am honoured to call you my mate!
I’m Karl’s sister some of what he talks about I didn’t even know myself - he’s never really told me the full horrors of what he went through in prisons - this is all behind us / him x love you boy xx
Yeah, my late brother was a soldier..served in Bosnia during the gulf War Went in with PTSD.and ce.oit with more. Je ended up in jails like myself, our upbringing were a product of the whys. He is a remarkable young man .I wish you both the very best.and sorry for your losses re your mum and nan.take care.x
Karl has been treated and abused like a caged wild animal and reacted accordingly. Hearing him now he is out you can here how he is no longer a threat to the public and speaks of his lived prisoner experience with absolute integrity. Take a look at how they rehabilitate elephants from captivity and back into there natural habitat. Best wishes to Karl as he builds a productive life in the natural human environment.😮😊
Ahh lovely karl, what a guy. After all he has been through, & endured hes survived it all n is living the life he deserves. I wish karl all the best in life & to stay healthy. Be nice to see your catch up with him in a few months time sam 🥰x

Evening Sam, Your approach to and consideration of those of us with mental health challenges is as constructive as it heart-warming. Thank you. I'm diagnosed ADHD, Bipolar 1, and am autistic. I'm also physically disabled, and sympathise with those out there with their own challenges. I very much empathise with Karl and can hear in his voice he's a decent young man. My very best to you both.
What a great guy.. He's had a bad start but very intelligent. I wish him every success in the future. People could learn a lot from him and help other people going through the same.. Hope everything works out for him.. James.. Bristol

I get that all prison staff can’t be trained in mental health but along side the hospital wings in prisons there should be something similar even if only assessment units for mental illness staffed by mental health trained staff and not new ones who think they know everything but staff who have proved their worth in the profession. At least from there meds could be administered under the mha. At least then for those proved to be ill arrangements could be made for them to be transferred to a hospital facility of whatever level is needed
I hope you're still in contact with Lee Marvin and ciara I saw him on a vlog with Billy Moore I would love see ciara and Lee back some time very interesting and hard lives I hope they are both well
Jesus, Sam! Did someone put you in a hot wash and shrink you?😂😂 Really though. Karl being able to speak about his mental health and especially how the madness feels. I have a lot of the same thoughts, but I've never told the doctor, too much of it for fear of getting fraggled off.
hi Sam found this interview really educational and profound truly respect Karl honesty he provides a unique prospective and which helped us as a community gain a better understanding of these type of situations would like extend my heartfelt condolence's to karl in regards to his grandma, thank you for providing a supportive platform for individuals like karl to share there stories wish Karl all the best for his future have peaceful Sunday Sam

@@daviddenham1511 the man has got schizophrenia. That completely changes you. My sibling has it and they changed from a placid individual to becoming psychotic and losing the plot. My sibling obsessed over clean things. They never needed to go to prison as they committed no crimes. You perhaps should be a bit more understanding.
Karl makes Sam look like a small fella, forearms are scary huge , should get into strong man training Karl. Ipp is the worst aspect of sentencing, it takes everything humane away from the situation! And your experience is the case to show why it's not got any place in the UK prison system, unless they want people in pure primal survival mode!
