Tecno is kinda as popular as Itel and Infinix in my country (Madagascar) with but also very expansive for what you get... Resellers sell them at exaggerated price. People here buy Tecno/iTel/Infinix especially for battery life since most of them don't care (or don't know) much about other specs.
Let's go; love watching you showcase all these cool phones that no one else does. The motorized camera low-key looks a little gimmicky but I thought the same of multi-camera phones and now that's the norm. So I guess we'll see!
Retractable cameras hold lot more potential. It seems like an optimum way to fit larger sensor with a longer focal length without turning camera bump into camera mountain. Imagine 1" type sensor with a f1.0 and 35mm equi.FL. would be enough to give tough competition to dslr in low light and bokeh.
Tecno is definitely not the first to have a telescopic camera on a phone. ex: ZenPhone Zoom The reason telescopic zoom has been abandoned is because it is less elegant and prone to failure and is imprecise. The modern implementation is something like Huawei's periscope camera and some computational photography to generate the bokeh effect.
So I did the math and it mostly checks out: For bokeh, a 2x telephoto at F1.0 (somewhere around 19mm FL or 54mm 35mm equiv.) would definitely yield decent bokeh, similar to APS-C at 30mm F1.4. Of course, you can achieve much more with faster lenses, larger sensors and longer focal lengths so I'm not sure it's reasonable to say it would be tough competition unless we exclude most of what's available. Also, obviously you couldn't get good bokeh on the x1 mode but portrait lenses usually aren't using small focal lengths so that's fine. Depth of field in mm at 1m (x1 is assumed to be an angle of view around 77 degrees as is common): -Theoretical phone: 58.6mm at x2 -MFT 25mm F1.4: 61.2mm -APS-C 30mm F1.4: 57.4 mm -Full Frame 50mm F1.4: 30.9mm Not a bad idea at all. As to low light performance, larger sensors have much lower noise and F1.0 isn't even one full stop brighter than a lot of lenses available for interchangeable lens cameras so I don't think that checks out. People like to say that the computational photography methods smartphones use are more advanced than what cameras offer but that ignores the fact that you can get better denoising than what is available on smartphones these days when processing the RAW files on a computer. Dxo PureRaw 3, Topaz Denoising and Lightroom (recently updated) all offer better denoising than smartphones because they take advantage of the much more powerful GPUs available in computers
@@kendokaaa I think u r talking about 50mm on full frame which is quite tight focal length won't be useful in day to day usage(if there's only one camera). So that's why I've given 35mm FL which is far more versatile. F1.0 13mm 1"type = F1.8 23mm APSC = F2.8 35mm on full frame To get better an idea u can compare it with Fujifilm x100v which having similar setup. (Multiple cameras might not be possible as additional weight and cost comes from high quality lenses, variable aperture and retractable mechanism makes it unviable)
@@kendokaaa actually low light performance will also be on par with apsc/ full frame F1.0 capture 4 time more light than F2.0 and 8 time than F2.8. Area wise, Full frame and apsc are larger than 1" sensor by 8 and 4 times respectively. So it's fair comparison
@yashkambli2807 The reason I went with 50mm is because that's common for portraits and I'm not sure people would like a narrow 35mm as their only phone camera. Also, 35mm does much worse for bokeh at the same distance so the comparison to mirrorless/DSLRs gets even worse. Micro Four Thirds is already at a disadvantage for bokeh compared to larger sensor systems and it still yields more than twice the bokeh with a common portrait lens compared to the theoretical 1 inch sensor 35mm equiv. F1.0: MFT 25mm F1.4 at 1m: 61.2mm DOF Theoretical phone: 140mm DOF It only compares well to larger cameras at 50mm equiv. and beyond
