FYI, this movie is what it termed a "Spaghetti Western", meaning an Italian production shot on location in Spain with an international cast and then dubbed into whatever language. These types of westerns revolutionized the genre in the 1960's when it was otherwise getting a bit stale. Also, to add to the international flavor, this is actually a remake of a Japanese samurai movie entitled "Yojimbo" by the great Akira Kurosawa and staring that absolute legend, Toshiro Mifune. If you get a chance you should really give that movie a watch as well as a companion to this movie and also watch Kurosawa's samurai masterpiece, "Seven Samurai" which was also remade in America as the western "The Magnificent Seven". Nice job on the reaction by the way, but then again you always do a stellar job at these vignettes.
For me Sanjuro is better than Yojimbo, and I'm certainly not the only one who thinks that. It still stars Toshiro Mifune but has more humour and character It was released 2 years earier that Fistful of Dollars so may have influenced it as well as subsequent spaghetti westerns. Mifune obviously being an influence on Eastwood too.
The Yojimbo plot has been used several times. There's this one. There was an 80's B fantasy movie starring David Carradine called The Warrior and the Sorceress. And there was a 20's gangland style film starring Bruce Willis called Last Man Standing. All used the Yojimbo plot.
I'm so glad you mentioned yojimbo. I never realized that was Mifune, even though I heard he was in this before. I saw Yojimbo and Seven Samurai about 18 years before watching these westerns. Now, I've got to go back and watch Mifune's scenes again. Yes, Jade, I highly recommend Kurosawa's samurai films when you have the time. Still, I hope to see your reactions to For a Few Dollars More and Once Upon a Time in The West before that. In case it wasn't mentioned earlier, Akira Kurosawa was mentor to Francis Ford Coppola Stephen Spielberg, and George Lucas. This plays a large role in the samurai aspect of the Jedi in Star Wars and why Yoda reminds so many people of Mr. Miyagi from the original Karate Kid.
One of my favorite Clint Eastwood spaghetti-style westerns (made similar but in the US) is High Plains Drifter from 1973. It still has a lot of the style of this movie but also throws in a few twists and turns. I think you would love it. Clint's later western movies move more and more into the traditional American style western but are all still great movies to watch.
Apart from the 2nd in the trilogy For A Few Dollars More with Lee Van Cleef (which is excellent!), Clint also stars in Pale Rider and The Outlaw Josey Wales, both with very similar plots to this film and also lots of fun. Thanks as always Jade for an excellent reaction. Always nice to hear a fellow Aussie accent.
Talking about the soundtrack.. Ennio Morricone is the Master behind this one, and so many other pieces, that are nothing less than legendary. When you have the opportunity, watch "Once Upon a Time in the West". It has his Magnum Opus - IMO -, and the theme song I used in my wedding.
I loved his score in " The Thing " by John Carpenter, legendary score ! It may have sounded boring and repetitive to some but that was just his style .
I'd say the other back bone character of the two films A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More is Gian Maria Volonté ..He has very interesting background ..
"Fistful of Dollars" is a remake of a Japanese Samurai movie called "Yojimbo", Japanese for Bodyguard, which was directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa. When Kurosawa saw "Fistful" he contacted Sergio Leone and said "I liked my movie"... Eventually the two men came to an "agreement" about some money, etc. If you were to watch the Dollars Trilogy in it's storyline sequential order it would be "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", where Clint first acquired the Poncho, then "For A Few Dollars More" and finally "Fistful Of Dollars". It doesn't really matter though, just as long as you watch them and enjoy them.
Diving DEEP into the classic spaghetti westerns, huh? Im game! Its been a while since ive seen this one. Thanks gor sharing. So long as you're on a "westerns" kick, ive got a good recommendation for an oddball... "Last Man Standing" with Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken.. It's a blend of "roaring 20's gangster" with "spaghetti western" that youve been enjoying lately.
I saw these movies when they first came out. Clint Eastwood started as a cowboy on a TV western series called "Rawhide", but these three movies made him a star on the big screen. Loads of fun to watch with you! Thanks so much, and God bless you!
@@MovieJoob he did a modern day Western called Cry Macho. It came out in 2021. It will most likely be his last acting performance, unless he acts in Juror #2, which he's directing. It sadly seems to be a limited release, which is sad for a legend like Clint Eastwood..
If you are going to watch these 60's Spaghetti Westerns you should take a look at the inspiration for these. They are Samurai movies from Japan, Yojimbo, Sanjuro and Seven Samurai. All made by the master, Akira Kurosawa. Seven Samurai alone is a master class in movie making. Some of the shots with the lighting, framing and composition...perfection. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg both credit Kurosawa as inspiration for them even getting into movie making.
Right and since she's already seen this movie, "Yojimbo" ("Fist" is nearly a scene-for-scene remake) would be a waste so then either "Sanjuro" or "Samurai Rebellion" would be a good watch. OR even a good ol' "Zatoichi" movie (with Shintaro Katsu, of course) which are always fun.
Watch “Last Man Standing” starring Bruce Willis, Christoper Walken and Bruce Dern and you can see this almost exact same story set in the 1920’s American west. It is a great movie and it’s very much worth watching. Trust me.
0:52 Just saying this now as someone who absolutely adores Red Dead redemption 2. Do not look up anything for the plot or for the general storyline. There are many side missions so you can do as many are as little as you want to, it does affect small things but if you want to research before playing I highly recommend against it because you might be spoiled on a lot of the major plot points. I think it's the best case of storytelling in a game I have ever seen. It takes place as a prequel to the first Red Dead redemption game so if you want to continue with that journey there is definitely a lot of people who would like to see that as well but just make sure you don't do research or look up anything regarding Red Dead redemption 2 when you're playing it because I actually got spoiled to the ending. Even then it was probably the most impactful storyline I've ever experienced. Such a good game!
Thank you so much for the tips!! I have never looked anything up this is a complete blind play through and I have no idea what to expect but I’m loving it a TON so far!! ❤
I love your reactions, Jade! I hope, while you are on your Western kick, you decide to watch *The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance* . It is an old-school Western, both my and Spielberg's favorite, and has some truly iconic actors and scenes. It also, while being a Western, deals with some themes that transcend the genre. Keep up all the great work!!

Joe`s MULE didn`t take kindly to being shot at did he & the greed of both families didn`t take kindly to either houses as Sergio`s 1st in the trilogy classic plays out... Great movie. I highly recommend you see the movie "My Name is Nobody" 1973 a really funny spaghetti movie. Another more modern movie you should see that plays homage to this movie is The Quick and The Dead 1995.

YeeHaw Jade!!! Love the outfit and your transformation is complete! Thank you for making my Friday night enjoyable. You are so much fun to share time with.🤠
For the Trilogy, Sergio never used the Audio from the footage, everything was recorded (from the Dialogue down to the wind) was done in Post Production.
Too fun, so is it the spaghetti westerns or Eastwood you like? If its Eastwood you might like his American westerns, or his cop shows, all are good. Thanks, watching your reaction makes these movies seem new again.
18:50 "How did they hear/see that?" Um... guns are very loud. In real life, they're loud enough to give you hearing damage. Movies aren't allowed to give you hearing damage with their sound effects. Literally everyone in a town that small would be able to hear if someone started shooting anywhere within it. Even if someone was out shooting a few miles away from the town, they'd still be able to hear it in the distance.
I can’t imagine the stench of the hats that the people wore in the 1800s. A man during that time probably took a bath once every two weeks or once a month. But, he kept wearing the same hat for months/yrs.
I didn’t even think about the hats specifically but you’re so right! And they’d catch all the sweat on the head and when they haven’t washed their hair for days or weeks oh boyyy

The only guy who was more prolific at making westerns is John Wayne! Pale Rider, unforgiven, 2 mules for sister Sarah, outlaw Josey Wales, hang em high, High plains drifter, are must this doesn't even include his great catalog of movies, he either acted in or directed! Pro tip, the final shootout scene was ripped off by Marty McFly in back to the future 3!
Girl, I need you to remember: there is no woman whose beauty you need to be jealous of. If not for the roughly 30 years and 15 000 km between us I'd have been unhappily infatuated with you for years now. You're gorgeous with a sweetest smile and mesmerising eyes, and - more importantly - kind-hearted, compassionate, and with a sense of humour and curiosity; in short - perfectly beautiful. Loving your reactions.
Honestly, I lnow you are on a western kick... but if I could make a suggestion? Also do yourself a favor and make it a Sergio Leone kick... Once Upon a Time in the West is brilliant.. but... Once Upon a time in America is one of the best movies EVER made and seriously makes one wonder what The Godfather would have been like had Leone directed it... or not.. decision is yours. Thanks for sharing... Inwill share a funny spiirtual story I have associated with For a Few Dollars More on your share with that one :)
Hello Jade. These movies were never really popular with women back in the day. Clint was, but not for these movies. You would never hear women at work gushing about spaghetti westerns, just like you wouldn't hear dudes discussing The Princess Bride or The Devil Wears Prada etc. But, you are doing yourself a favor because as you see, they are highly entertaining, and at the end of the day isn't that what we all want from movies, regardless of the genre?
Jade, my only criticism is that you started with the last movie first. This one introduces us to The Man With No Name, and it propelled Clint Eastwood to international stardom. I don't remember if you've seen Dirty Harry yet, but it should be on your watch list. I like your reactions.
_A Fistful of Dollars_ is MORE LINKED to _A Few Dollars More_ than _The Good, The Bad & The Ugly_ are linked to first two.. Main point is All 3 have Eastwood's character as a Loner 'Bounty Hunter' out to make money by taking in or getting rid of Old West criminals.. _A Few More_ & _G,B & U_ are linked in that Lee Van Cleef's character may or may not be same name--- but rivalry against Eastwood is same.

It is because the others are post-American Civil War.

I like your cowboy hat! Next time a poncho? 😀
Thank you so much and omg fantastic suggestion especially cause it’s so cold here!! 🤠
I’d love to rug up in a poncho!
The Outlaw Josie Wales.
Love the hat!
Thank you so much 🤠
@@MovieJoob You're welcome!🤩
This is a spin on the Japanese movie, Yojimbo.
If you like westerns with some humor in it you should react to my name is nobody.✌️❤️
But, you are doing yourself a favor because as you see, they are highly entertaining, and at the end of the day isn't that what we all want from movies, regardless of the genre?
breakthrough charles bronson 1975, classic spy / western
Hi Jade how are you doing? :)
Well thanks how about you!? ❤
Hope you have a great weekend!
You can't do this tò Ennio Morricone!
Very nice cowgirl hat, jus sayn'
Do you feel lucky or is that another movie 🤠😅
❤
❤
Yojimbo?
Like ur hat! Is that leather? I bet it gets hot down unda.
Well, it's winter there now.
It’s a faux leather I think but it’s cold currently!! But it can get very hot down under!! ☀️
Jade, my only criticism is that you started with the last movie first. This one introduces us to The Man With No Name, and it propelled Clint Eastwood to international stardom. I don't remember if you've seen Dirty Harry yet, but it should be on your watch list. I like your reactions.
You're so beautiful and precious ❤ ciao from Italy
_A Fistful of Dollars_ is MORE LINKED to _A Few Dollars More_ than _The Good, The Bad & The Ugly_ are linked to first two.. Main point is All 3 have Eastwood's character as a Loner 'Bounty Hunter' out to make money by taking in or getting rid of Old West criminals.. _A Few More_ & _G,B & U_ are linked in that Lee Van Cleef's character may or may not be same name--- but rivalry against Eastwood is same.
A thousand dollars back then is about 40k today...just sayin😅
Mess up the order 🤦♂️
Clint is that badass cowboy who shoots in the ass😂
