It's always so sad for me to see a beautiful home or building, with so much history and so many stories, being demolished. Thank you for giving us a last peek!
This makes me so sick. I hate that it's being torn down. History is disappearing 😕 😪 everyday. Thanks for taking us along. Thank God you could video it before it was all gone.
This is my hometown! I’ve driven by that house a thousand times and always wanted to explore it. I loved the movie so I could see what it looked like inside. As much as I loved this video it’s painful to see the house look so terrible and of course knowing it will be torn down soon. Thanks for exploring it one last time!
Me too! I drove by it earlier tonight to get to culvers, it’s almost entirely gone. i hate to see it go, my mom and i have always loved this house everytime we go to lexington we look at it.
It hurt my heart driving past this home and not seeing it there anymore. It was beautiful. There was hardly nothing around it, so it stood so grand out there by itself!
I find abandon homes like this so sad. Somebody worked their whole life to build and afford that. It could be a mansion like this, or a modest home on farm or in a city. When they pass, the people that inherit it let it fall into decay, or sell it and move on. They did nothing to earn what they inherited so it has no value to them.
It's horrible to see such beauty demolished. That would make for a wonderfulhome for many people maybe women or men with children that r homeless or suffering domestic problems
Is what happens when ya are raised in privileged life like that or born into wealth, those types don't understand the value of hard work or let alone never really had experience with it and tend to not appreciate the little things.
So glad you didn't hurt yourself it's so sad to see such beauty being taken away history will be gone forever thanks for sharing this beautiful home and taking us along with you guys stay safe!

You are a great advocate for saving these homes. I wish more could be done to save each one. Each one is as precious as the day it was built and for whom it was built for. Today's houses cannot compare or compete, or the craftsmanship be affordable or even available in some instances. It's such a shame to lose these old, and once very grande beauties :(
Wow!!! What a house. I'm glad someone is trying to salvage stuff. I'd hate to think that all those cedar closets would be destroyed. It's so big you'd almost expect it to be a hotel. Thank you for the adventure.
What a beautiful old mansion. So sad to see all of the old beauty's being tore down just for modern development. I would think the 3rd floor would have been maid quarters. The bathrooms were very basic. Thanks for the tour! Bev
This is such a beautiful home , I can’t believe that anyone would tear it down, so many amazing old homes are being destroyed. House of the witch was a good movie ~ I loved this mansion.
The dryer worked by hanging bedding or clothing on the rods, then placing hot coals in the trays under the drawers , then sliding shut it was mostly for bedding though. I assume they had servants taking care of such a large household because these types of dryers are seen in homes like this occasionally. I hope this will be preserved, because it’s such an interesting part of house managing history.
Whatever they build on this site won't begin to compare to this mansion! I really enjoyed seeing all the winding stairs! There is nothing that I like more!! When the camera is positioned just right, it's like I am walking up them myself. You made my day!
I feel so bad for you. That looked like a long, cold, miserable walk to the house! With a wet, frozen foot as well. Thank you for bringing this house into our homes!
Each mansion you show has a sad story, and reminds us how short our life is, just a second in universe time. All we are is dust in the wind and nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky.
This was such a grand home. How could they tear it down? The bedrooms are huge and huge walk-in closets. Can you imagine back in its heyday with this would’ve looked like? The spiral staircase is just magnificent. I’m so glad that you were able to at least document it. I keep feeling like the house has feelings looking out and seeing what its future is going to be. Breaks my heart. 💜🤟🏻🍀😎🇺🇸
Thank you so much for this tour. What a beautiful home and such a shame it’s being torn down. This home just goes to show how rich this family was back in the day. That stair case was absolutely beautiful and that walk-in closet upstairs I noticed was lined in cedar planking that you failed to mention. Thanks again for this video tour.
This home is amazing!!! It's so sad it's gonna be torn down. I've never seen so many cedar closets before. And that dryer was so cool. I'm definitely gonna watch the movie either tonight or tomorrow. Thank u for another great video!! Stay safe. P.S. u can show the staircase over and over its still just as beautiful as the first time u showed it
Loved the history intro. That mansion looks like it was so amazing in it's day. Love the drone footage. Hey, BB, When you stepped in the icy water I immediately worried about frostbite. I was thinking that if you have a plastic bag in your backpack along with dry socks then you could put the dry sock on, then the plastic as a barrier between your sock & wet shoe. Thanks for all you do & again Congrats on 150K! Now 152K
It must have been a stunningly beautiful mansion in the early days. It looks more modern to me than a house that was built back in 1929. Do you know how long it's been abandoned? Thanks for posting this.
My parents lived right down the road from the Madden's. It is always so sad to see these old grand homes going to waste. The Interstate wasn't close enough that this home couldn't have been saved but the land had been sold for shopping centers. Actually a very saavy business move on Anita Madden's part, she sold the land that is now Hamburg Shopping Centre' (huge) but had in the agreement that the buildings in the Centre' were leased to her for X number of years so her estate will continue to earn money off of all the businesses there. Also the Maddens are quite famous for their Kentucky Derby Eve parties, many well known politicians and celebrities came to the parties which were very very posh. Quite a history in that old house. Thanks for the video.

Lexington has been my home many years and driven past this for years. It is always been off the road and just pretty cool as a landmark. Sad to see it demolished. Just the stories that can be told of this place!!! Wow!!!
Thank you for sharing this story. Very sad! The dryer in the basement was used to dry tablecloths and bed sheets. It was connected to the hydronic heating system. Many old fine homes still have them.

I LOVED the bathroom! It would have gone beautifully with my house that burned down in 2014 :((( The kitchen was "cow" themed (as a tribute to my hometown of Calgary, AB Canada aka Cowtown - for the yearly Stampede there every July) the kitchen was pink/white/black with a theme worded "LIFE: the black, the white and the Udder" lol mounted in large words atop the large kitchen space, yep, these ppl decorated in my kinda theme indeed, and although I am most grateful to have a home, built in 2014 after the fire, it has zero character compared to my other home.
