The fluidity of Hakeem is unmatched. Even at almost 50 years old here, his moves are so much snappier and sluid than a young LeBron. Just goes to show Hakeem's speed of thought. He already had his move and counters thought out before the ball even touched his hand, so as soon as he gets the ball, he's already putting you in the blender.
Seems he had a little trouble articulating the moves the difference between him and bron here early was visualisation of a defender. Lebron was adapting the moves as if he was unguarded. But you can see how good bron is at learning once he figures it out. Dwight Howard looked lost with the post training

Well you have several players in history of basketball that have experience in soccer growing up. All of them tend to have alot better footwork than typical bball players that never played soccer..

At this very moment I am watching the Lakers @ Boston on TNT. It's only the first quarter and I've seen Lebron use Hakeem's post up baseline move two times. The first time he kept the ball and scored on a reverse layup. The 2nd time he recognized the defense and made a pass along the baseline to the coffin corner which resulted in an assist on a made 3-point shot. Lebron, one of the greatest students of the game, continues to utilize lessons he learned from the Master, Hakeem Olajuwon!
Just got through watching Lakers at New Orleans, Sunday March 1st. Once again I could see LBJ using the "signature" moves that he learned from Hakeem. Of course, he didn't do it EVERYTIME he posted up. But there were specific times down the court where I could easily say "That's one that he learned from Hakeem." It's a signature flow of motion that is clearly visible. And in this game LBJ was killing people. I saw him use a couple of moves AND some of the counter moves that Hakeem was demonstrating in the video. And while his footwork was no match, he was extremely effective! He even did it a couple against Zion, one on the baseline and another one in the paint. The young man couldn't do anything about it. At least not on those occasions. As a huge fan of Hakeem, it was a beautiful thing to see.
That is what I love about LeBron he is still a student of the game and is willing to humble himself and learn from all-time greats like Hakeem Olajuwon

Crazy how statistically, Hakeem should be remembered for his DEFENSE. Dude was the complete package at center.
He's still in really great shape. And his skills are still smooth as ever.

Bol needs to seek him out and learn how to be a pro, and a go to shot. like a jump hook in the post. Bol is Dinka so he'll never be thick. I see him playing more forward so gaining more strength is more important than weight.
It's so strange to me that these guys don't hit up the greats. No one does Kareem's skyhook... Like it's sad. he looks like he could still play competitively which is amazing for his age, but i think the main thing tha twould give him problems is the long schedule. its a lot easier to look good at a relaxed pace for a few sesssions than it is on a 82 game schedule. still impressive though

Hakeem had great footwork because he played soccer growing up.. that requires a ton of footwork.. I think this really emphasizes the need for cross sports for young kids.. cant be just uni sport.. cross sports is good training overall

Well you have several players in history of basketball that have experience in soccer growing up. All of them tend to have alot better footwork than typical bball players that never played soccer..

At this very moment I am watching the Lakers @ Boston on TNT. It's only the first quarter and I've seen Lebron use Hakeem's post up baseline move two times. The first time he kept the ball and scored on a reverse layup.
The 2nd time he recognized the defense and made a pass along the baseline to the coffin corner which resulted in an assist on a made 3-point shot.
Lebron, one of the greatest students of the game, continues to utilize lessons he learned from the Master, Hakeem Olajuwon!
Just got through watching Lakers at New Orleans, Sunday March 1st. Once again I could see LBJ using the "signature" moves that he learned from Hakeem.
Of course, he didn't do it EVERYTIME he posted up. But there were specific times down the court where I could easily say "That's one that he learned from Hakeem."
It's a signature flow of motion that is clearly visible. And in this game LBJ was killing people. I saw him use a couple of moves AND some of the counter moves that Hakeem was demonstrating in the video.
And while his footwork was no match, he was extremely effective! He even did it a couple against Zion, one on the baseline and another one in the paint. The young man couldn't do anything about it. At least not on those occasions.
As a huge fan of Hakeem, it was a beautiful thing to see.
