    Thanks fella. Just bought a pair which i thought was too young to breed. Woke up this morning and attatched to the underside of a cattappa leaf is about 100 eggs. Great video!

    I have a pair of peacocks, and I'm wondering why they don't show as many colors as yours and many others I've seen? Could it not be feeding them enough?

    Do you still use the open tube or did you switch to a closed tube? What color and diameter works best?

      +Mike Murphy I imagine a harem would work, I had 2 males and 1 female and she would spawn with one, and within a week she would be spawning with the other. I will try a harem in the future, but if you beat me to it let me know how it goes.

    Loved this video, learned a lot, and might try this soon. Just curious, what do you do with the babies you get, do you sell them or just put them in some large community tank?

    • @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy

      Gave them away. Did have a community of them but have downsized since then.

      absolutely. breeding these guys has been a blast. i was frustrated not knowing many of the things i had to discover breeding them for myself so I hope this helps others in the future.

    At what age could you tell males and females apart? I have 3 juveniles. Not sure how old. None have the black stripe and none have a nuchal hump.

    Interesting, my gudgeons aren't picky at all. So far, they haven't turned down any food I've given them: flake, pellets, bloodworms(dried and frozen), live brine shrimp

  • @aje8790

    Do you think they would breed at 7.6ph. I know they can live in that but will they breed?

    • @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy
      @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy  4 роки тому

      Keep them well fed and it's a possibility. I feel like the water changes helped spur breeding though which would have shifted the ph.

  • @mikew2175

    are you still breeding them, and if so are you near enough to CT where I could get a male from you?

    • @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy
      @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy  8 років тому +1

      i lost my female a while back, however the fry are starting to mature and i'm waiting to hatch my first new batch. I'm in MO, so not sure that could work.

    my peacock gudgeons just layed eggs under a rock in my tank. i wasnt trying to breed. ive read i should take the male out of the tank once i see some fry. well this is a heavily planted tank and i have no clue how im supposed to remove fish without destroying the aquascape. i think i will leave them to their own devices like in the wild. they dont remove the parents and adult fish in the wild, so. . . lol

    • @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy
      @BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy  4 роки тому

      You may have some fry survive. The dad stays with them and will eat them when they start to become free swimming.

    • @1984-f7q
      @1984-f7q 4 роки тому

      @@BuddyMayfieldFishBuddy yes, the male has been under the rock with them for the past 3 days guarding and waving fresh water over the eggs. hopefully some survive. like i said, this was unplanned, but after these fry hatch, i will put a small pvc pipe in there for the next time they mate, this way i can remove the eggs/fry after i see the 1st one swimming.

    Los acuarios relajan dicen, te sientas delante de tu acuario y te evades, te quedas absorto.
    Todo es una balsa de aceite, una paz infinita, un placer inenarrable.
    Pero de buenas a primeras ves a un pez que pega a otro, a otro que muerde aletas, pagas la novatada, les buscas casa y todo bien.
    Ahora no filtra bien, limpias el filtro.
    A cambiar agua una vez a la semana.
    Uff y eso verde? Tienes algas, de que serán?, preguntas y te bombardean a información, normalmente más mala que buena, terminas comprándote el laboratorio de Mr.Hide y tienes mil test, fosfatos, nitratos, nitritos, hierro, amonio, cloro, y así hasta el infinito y más allá.
    Ahora nivelas todo y piensas que eres el mejor, pero que pasa?
    Las plantas no tiran, se mueren, preguntas y otra vez la puñetera biblia en verso, sustrato nutritivo, lo pones y te hablan de las bondades del co2, otro mamoneo, lo pones y ahora que pasa?, te falta luz.
    Otra odisea, leds, t8, t5?
    Pones más luz y te comen las algas, y te dicen, es que al poner más luz, co2, sustrato nutritivo etc, tienes que abonar macros y micros...
    QUEEEEEEEEEEEEE?
    Más tests, tu casa se convierte en el puto CSI, pero no acaba ahí, de repente el filtro no va, a limpiar otra vez, un tubo de luz se funde, a comprar otro.
    Y esos puntitos blancos en los peces que son?, amigo, tienen ich.
    Alaaaa, a comprar medicación, y claro al acuario enfermería, etc.
    Si, una afición de lo más relajante, cago en mi vidaaaaa!
    Y ya hablaremos de cuando no tenemos bastante y ponemos el gambario....
