These guys are awesome but they aren’t as peaceful as some say… my big female gudgeon decided she hated my beautiful samurai betta for two days and shredded his fins(he’s fine now). They’re also slowly picking off my cardinal tetras at night. Still some of my favourite fish though! Great personalities and so much fun to watch!
Have never seen them for sale. If I do? I'm getting them as fine companions for my dozen or more Rainbows in my 920 liter aquarium. Natural companions.
same here. I live in Brisbane and caught a female in the local creek. I have been back a few time but just can not get a male. I have not been able to catch another female either for that matter but they are in there. It took me a while to identify them as most pictures are of the male.
Wow my Gudgeon that I caught in the local creek has grown since I posted last time and has turned out to be a great looking male with wonderful colours. Thought it was a female for ages. So now I have to keep hunting and try to get him a mate.
I played this footage to my female empire gudgeons by putting my phone up to the glass lol. They were very impressed , my two males smaller than your , not so much. nice fish.
@@WondrousMindTrick this was 5 years ago man lol. That's really dependent on the type of algae. The best way is to balance the tank so the plants can outcompete the algae, that way the algae is controlled and will typically only grow on hardscape rather than the plants.
They look great. Are they difficult to keep? What you feed them? Would they fair well in a community tank (Tetras, Honey Gourami, Corys, Shrimp)? ps. I actually think the algae looks good. Not messy/out of control
These guys are great and have a pleasant/friendly temperament. I keep mine with 2 goldfish, a gold spot pleco, and 5 zebra danios. The goldfish initially bugged them, because they were a little too curious, but they're part of the group now. They don't eat flakes at all for me. They LOVE frozen brine shrimp and blood worms.
stunning males, the females though are MEH AF. gotta say, if the females were just a bit prettier I'd want some of these. The peacock gudgeons are still the gudgeons off me. That's some impressive courting behavior though
Beautiful fish in terrible aquarium with black beard. Then more nitrates in water then more your beard raising plus LED lamps helping to raise it better it's sucks. More easy to through away everything and starting over. Sorry.
@@tropicalfishlover T8 just for marine aquariums not for freshwater and it is not a normal light, sorry. If you would say normal two bulbs 70W, that would be normal.
@@tropicalfishlover Man I keep my aquarium for over 30 years and I had pass all problems long time ago. I also using LED lamps, but my dimmer lower light almost double other way plants start covert in black beard. Marin aquarium is different you can put T8 what ever.
He looks even more splendid in the wonderfully planted tank.
Beautiful fish :-) Thanks for show :))

Thanks for this.

could have also been a flagfish

Absolutely stunning fish. Kinda expensive whee I live though.
Beautiful. Would these live with Dwarf Cichlids? 🇬🇧
I want to know this also!
@frostmisago2827 Thinking about it I would trust the cichlids. I'm going to have these with Gobies & Blennies. 🇬🇧
Beautiful fish! Where did you get it?
Black beard algae out of control
Really stunning fish. I have a pair of peacock Gudgeons, do u know if I can add a pair of empires to the mix or if it’s a bad idea?
Wow that was a good question... as soon as I seen this fish I ordered 10... and I have 2 peacocks who jus bred... hopefully everything goes well
@@ttownaquatics3702 did it go well? I’m want to add some empire gudgeons in my 30 gallon but already have 2 peacock gudgeons
@@dEiSeL5260xz nope It actually didn't... lost all my peacock from an unknown reason 😒... they all jus stopped eating smh
皇后塘鱧,很漂亮也很兇的魚😅
can they be kept in a 5 gallon tank
Have you tried dosing Seachem Flourish Excel to get rid of the algae?
The best way to get rid of this algae in siamese algae eaters. It's caused by a dirty tank/filter plus high nitrates.

theses fish are cool to look at
How big do these grow?
Hi, mine never colour up this bright! Any ideas why not? Nice tank btw :-)
Are the black things algae? Why don't you remove them?
yea those black fuzzy balls are gross.
It's not that simple, black beard algae is extremely difficult to get rid of permanently.
They look like a black version of marimo moss balls.
They look cool.
3 siamese algae eaters will clean that tank in two days.
So aweesome.
Awesome fish.
Nice Aussie fish
How large they are??? Or how large they can get???
tropicalfishlover ohhhh i thought they was bigger...thanks a lot buddy!!!
