  • Since our son joined the Army, Michelle and I have been enjoying military RV campgrounds. So far we have used the Famcamp at McChord AFB / JBLM. This famcamp is a beautiful place to stay! We love being able to stay on base and be near our son's housing. In this video, we share 5 tips from our experiences RVing at military campgrounds.
There is one resource which is a MUST HAVE. It is the Military RV, Camping & Outdoor Recreation Guide. This is a guide to all military RV resources worldwide. It is available at militaryliving.com/ or you can find it here - militaryliving.com/product/mi...

How much does it cost to camp at those campgrounds?

  • @carlhursh505

$30 per is NOT cheap. Passport America has a lot of better deals. $30 is what civilians should not retired military.

      Carl Hursh - 👋 Hello!
I agree, $30 a night is not necessarily cheep. A comparable non military RV park, from our experience, would cost between $40 to $60 per night, which is why I made that statement.
      .
As to vets paying a different rate than civilians - I would personally LOVE it if some of my tax dollars went toward proving vets free or very cheep camping at military campgrounds.
Thanks for watching & commenting Carl!

You've done better than we did with Passport America. I bought a membership the first year we bought a little trailer and we only found one place where we could use it. But we're occasional campers and don't spend a lot of time out there, and we just didn't intersect with any places that were affiliated with Passport America. YMMV...

Boondocking literally means that you are not in a campground.
also, why does everybody have to play loud music when you're doing a video about being out in nature? That's just very contradictory.

Kerry Ware what is the proper word to use when you are at a campground but using no hookups?

      Dry camping. 😁
Some people come with with other terms for different types of so called camping, ie: walldocking / wallydocking, driveway surfing, stealth camping in a city (many videos on stealth camping in a city) etc.

I don't understand why you'd inform us that your not going to include anything you see that is considered sensitive. I think that if it's really sensitive, you would not be seeing it from a fam camp.

Right when I say that in the video I'm by the flight line. While you and I might not consider flight line operations "really sensitive" the military does not want those operations or facilities photographed or filmed.

Got that, 20+ years Air Force, fully understand operations security. What I meant for you is that we only see what you show us and it's really not necessary to tell us your not filming something. And I think it's relatively well known that airplane watchers are photographing and filming Air Force airplanes at every base.

@@grantjohnson777 I understand. Yes, that comment was not at all necessary. It was just my weird way of sharing my disappointment for not being able to show all the fascinating stuff with viewers. On one hand, I gladly comply with not filming what I was told not to because I love our country. On the other hand, I sooo wished to show everyone more awesome stuff. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your service sir! I deeply appreciate our freedom 🇺🇸
