Love what you do Lex!
Well that was ridiculously good
Was All Gas No Brakes covered at all in this interview? Haven’t had a chance to watch yet.
You forgot to add 30:27. To me this is very important context in order to really understand this interview.
Listening to this after watching “The Antisocial Network” is TIGHT.
Andrew's grown up so much, i know he had a rough patch in his career but im glad he didn't give up, we need more authentic journalist like him
‘Rough patch’ bro, he assaulted someone 💀

Andrew is a legend. Every documentary he releases is top tier (especially lately).
He told from interviews that January 6, was inside job by government

Been loving his stuff lately. It’s like he’s really taking the responsibility of the platform he’s garnered seriously

You missed the Jesse Pinkman part from breaking bad
okay.....wtf kind of comment is this? I'm not in jail I don't need to hear people repeat what other people say because they don't have nothing intelligent to say themselves I've heard enough black people say that comment AKA meaning they repeat what other people say right after somebody says it I've heard enough black people say this to fill up a whole school. Seriously I've heard a lot of black people repeat the same way this guy just repeated but I guarantee you this guy's not black he's just a parrot.
And I'm sorry to you sensitive people out in the world today the people were black so I don't know how in the world that's racist but there's going to be idiots out there in the world that think this is a racist comment and while you're the reason why I call you an idiot.
You cannot be detailed anymore in this world nor you cannot be honest.
I wish it was touched on more when Andrew was discussing the absolute torment you feel of not wanting to be here anymore. It was something that occurred due to the circumstances he was under and all he could think about was his family. It's a dark place and discussing that dark place more is what leads to that number dropping.
He is an absolute gem of a journalist, especially now in his growth, that I'm ecstatic to be a part of as a viewer and to learn more from his courageousness and real world reporting.

Lex's 2nd swear word on here lol
That was so hilarious
It really hurts
Lex - " how do you heal the misunderstandings between two people, you think"
Andrew - "Listening. Its the only option we have. No forced education. No, like, forced meetings or meditations between political opponents. Just listen to more people. And really listen. Try to get rid of any per-concieved notions you might have about how you should feel about someone your suppose to disagree with. And keep your ears and your heart open to people you dont know. And your life will change".
the left's way is to listen, imagine the worst, abuse people, be toxic and divisive, and then complain about division.
Yeah, it's called hermeneutics.
There’s a lot of similarities between Lex and Andrew
Ok you can listen to the right wing spew bigoted bullshit or the left spewing anti gun and communism bullshit but it's still bullshit on both sides and doesn't solve anything.
He raped someone. How did humanity get this disgusting????
I met you in Fresno on your tour. You struck me as a sensitive and conscientious person. During the allegations I thought about how easy it is to get cancelled, and hoped that the universe would send you enough courage to keep doing what you do. So much respect for you Andrew. Thank you for being vulnerable.
You saw dozens of women accusing him of instances of sexual misconduct from almost every city he visited during his work for years including overt sexual assault - and then you saw him admit to it directly - and your thoughts were how it is "so easy" to get cancelled? Wtf
He engaged in really thoughtful and important journalism, but why does valuing his art and media mean you have to write off the allegations? I don't understand this logic
@@christianzeitler8006He hasn't omitted to overt sexual assault whatsoever; he's admitted to being a sex pest and pushy but if consent was given in all cases, even if revoked or regretted later, he's not someone you can apply that label to. Did he do something wrong, or exhibit a pattern of wrong behavior? Sure, but you have to be very careful about who you call an assaulter, or a rapist, because those are heavy, heavy terms. They should be reserved for people who indubitably have committed those crimes, and fuck anyone who has committed those crimes. You just can't treat someone who naïvely took advantage of their clout and a genuine predator the same thing. It's like making involuntary manslaughter the same thing as first degree murder.
admitted*
can someone point to me to something that proves the allegations are false? cause at the time he pretty much admitted it probably happened and gave the 'i was young and drunk and dont remember exactly' excuse directly after the accusation. so... anybody got receipts that the person who accused him made it all up ?
Taylor… you know he admitted to these things and apologized and took a hiatus because of it right? Not because he was “cancelled”
Lmao
Genuinely think him and channel 5 do some of the best work in humanizing people.
Andrew is one of the few journalist I truly admire. His pursuit of reality is inspiring
That’s why people pay for pros. Any fan that’s willing to meet up is outshot l probably missing a screw, nut, and bolt.
…. Admire? He’s basically playing a caricature of a journalist. The whole thing is a joke. While he maybe morphing into an actual journalist. Don’t confuse what it is at it’s core. Comedy. It’s great to see a normie carve out a lane. But the word admire should be reserved a little bit.

Trans-chicken@@pistolshr1mp
Having raised chickens for a little bit, I can say most breeds are very difficult to sex unless you’ve had a lot of experience raising them from chicks, and even then, there’s a fair bit of chance to it. Then there’s also the fact chickens do sex rival suppression (juvenile males in the presence of a rooster will delay maturation, and look like hens, conversely, a hen may, without the presence of a male sometimes develop a comb and start to crow, and pullets of both sexes alike fight similarly ) so you may very well not quite know who’s a hen until the rooster lays an egg.
From one Andrew to another, Callaghan, you’re the man and a journalistic treasure whom deserves far more recognition than you’ve received thus far. I hope much like William Montgomery, you ain’t never gonna stop.
He praises Jon Stewart a little too much for my taste but that's the only stump in this video.
@@kennymichaelalanya7134 Your name is Kenny, what TF do you know?!
@JuGGaLo9112 I'll answer your vague question with a vague answer. We were taught a lot of wrong things or half truths growing up (USA). The Pyramids of Giza were not built 3,500 years ago as the History books of my childhood said. Human Civilization wasn't built 11,500 years ago. We had modern civilizations and great monolithic structures before 11,500 years ago. In a nutshell, they don't want to tell us about our origins because it conflicts with their narrative.
So yeah I know a lot. My father is Peruvian so my grandmother used to tell me about the Legends of how we were "Made" and by who. The Lake Titicaca holds a great mystery and many experts are amazed by such a place. And I can't even discuss that here because it would be censored even though almost every culture has a myth about Giants. When the Spaniards came in 1492, they were welcomed as "gods" or the "sons of gods". The Mayans predicted that year would be the year of great change for them. Anyways, I can't go into further details due to this platform omitting things.
@kennymichaelalanya7134 the mayans also predicted the world would end in 2012, what's your point?
Andrew, you're an internet legend and a real person. Your courage and humility are exactly what the world needs. I'm learning that I'm more than my mistakes, and it sounds like you've gotten through similar issues. It means a lot to hear you speak like this. Much love and respect.

"People who are struggling the most are often the ones willing to help you when you are struggling." This is a profound statement. Lex and Andrew - Excellent podcast!
The funnest person you know is probably depressed. 🤔
If not someone who is currently, then someone who has struggled. Probably more likely to sympathize
How can I help you?
He raped a woman. What is wrong with you people??????
I actually didn't know that about him. Certainly, his actions are far from ideal, but at least he seems to take ownership and appears to have grown from the experience. Most men fail to recognize, let alone empathize with, how their behavior might be perceived or received by others. His awareness of the trauma another person has endured is notably rare in a context where the initiator is typically male, and the impact of their actions is experienced by someone else. This critical insight is something that is missing in the mindset of 95% of men who exhibit predatory behaviors, and very few people are willing to openly discuss this issue, despite it being a situation nearly everyone encounters at some point in their lives.
Never heard of this Andrew Callaghan kid until today. Very interesting interview, and glad Lex conducted it.
His instinctual answer to the civil war question (although very brief and slightly cut short) was very interesting. Good to see a person who acknowledges his short-cook's, and will be interesting to see where he is in five years. I hope he will be happy.
check out his documentaries john!
Yeah, definitely check out his stuff under Channel5. Found him over the last year, his docs are wild and entertaining..almost scary when you think of what is going on in this country
You gotta check out his work. Pure independent journalism. His earlier stuff, especially with All Gas No Brakes is more comedic, but it still shows a lot of the truth in the world. Recently he covers more serious topics, but he still gets some good comedic moments in. He doesn't interview people with any bullshit loaded questions or ulterior motives.

I think people like Andrew Callaghan and Peter Santanello are important for people to better understand American culture. People from all political leanings should pay attention to their contributions to culture.

@@julietaches926 He's clearly not a rapist
@@4ndj says that Andrew bought her 4-5 shots quickly, while remaining relatively sober himself. The next thing she remembers, she's at Andrew's house off-campus. In bed, she recalls vaginal pain, telling Andrew to stop so she can sleep, and Andrew manhandling her to keep in her a position he wanted despite her protests.
In the morning, she realizes what Andrew did and confronts him. He proceeds to mock her for saying 'no' the night before while boasting about his size. She quotes him as saying something along the lines of "You were all like, “No, no, it’s so big, like no I can’t,”. He continued to imitate the sound of her saying “No” while laughing. Mary states she found it scary that Andrew didn't seem to even recognize her saying no while having sex means he r*ped her.
He insisted on coming upstairs, and once in her room refused to leave despite her asking him to. She told him that she needs to change, and to at least close his eyes if he wouldn't leave. When she takes her clothes off, he grabs her and starts having sex with her.
She quickly tells him to stop, saying he's hurting her- then begins to cry while saying no multiple times. Andrew mostly ignores her, but at least once covers her mouth forcefully to keep her quiet, and at least once tells her to shut up. Emma describes the attack as very physically painful due to a previous back injury. "I wasn’t a person in that moment. It was beyond being objectified. It was like I did not exist. It felt as if he was looking right through me,"

What a great young fella . So good to see you young folk out there doing so much good , in style , living life well and helping our brothers n sisters.
It’s crazy to see the evolution of this guy, I’ve almost grown into his content. All Gas No Brakes was a LOT different than what Channel 5 does now. Respect, Andrew
What an amazing interview. I like Andrew and Channel 5, and All Gas No Breaks, but this interview sheds so much more light on Andrew as a person.
I was 100% unaware of Andrew prior to this, I am now a full fan - thank you both for continuing your great work!
Check out his his UA-cam channel, Channel 5 news. It’s good stuff
@@screamdreamer9085 thank you, I’ve check out a few so far and loving them all!
And then if you need some more you can watch og AllGasNoBrakes
The greatest living journalist 🙌
I love how both of them are so accepting and humorous about life. Makes me feel like im not alone
So many props to Andrew and channel 5! Changed the game for sure. Probably my favorite episode of Lex yet.
I’m hoping this episode will keep it 55th street
On hood
I'm incapable of reading this sentence without a crip Mac impersonation.
55TH ST
Five Real
We don't FUCK with custers.
This conversation was simultaneously funny, intelligent, unifying, and deeply emotional. Thanks to both of these men for being who they are and doing the things they do.
Did not expect this to be so informative, introspective and deep
Practically two of my favourite UA-camrs from completely different genres chatting. Love this!
Thanks for opening up to the world about your issues bro, I had HUGE respect for you before this interview but now I have even more. Truly a special individual, I hope to enjoy until I’m older. 👊🏽
Keeping it 55th street! Love your stuff, Andrew! Thank you for shining your light and finding the strength in the hard times
Lex Fridman is a wonderful interviewer. I have only seen him once before with John Mearsheimer, and his style didn't mesh as well with JM, who is so much older than Lex. But seeing him now with someone younger who is probably quite vulnerable and seeing how gentle and sympathetic he is with him. The young man is responding so well that he must feel a lot of trust in Lex. I am very impressed with his empathy.
i appreciate the moment of two professional interviewers having a conversation with questions and answers from both sides rather than onesided conversation. Also it is nice to hear Lex get questioned during his podcasts! Andrew is a real g with sick ideas videos, visuals, and plots.
Yes!! I’ve been waiting for this episode for so long! I’m going to share this with everyone ❤❤
Also gotta say though, keep doing your thing Andrew! Your reporting and showing of real ppl is what we need more of.
Heartwarming. Andrew, beyond all his accomplishments and flaws, really comes across as a person open to the human experience. Both his own and others. Very interested in his future.
"A lot of people are scared to listen" Its about how you listen too. People will listen, but wont be able to process what someone is saying because they aren't filtering it through an open heart and mind like you said. This is a beautiful interview, and I hope Lex and Andrew collaborate on future projects that can help influence positive change in some capacity. These two are the type of people I want making the changes in our society.
We love you Andrew! He’s strong for sharing these feelings- people can make mistakes and grow!
I have to say I really did not Andrew prior to this. But damn, this has been one of the most intereting interviews I have seen in a long time. Andrew's personal & professional experiences are simply fascinating. Love the deep dives into the edges of society, very unpretentious. Fantastic interview & conversation. Well done Lex & Andrew. We need more people & conversations like this.
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST INTERVIEW LEX OR ANDREW HAS EVER DONE BY FAR!!! LEX HAS A WAY TO MAKE EVERYONE FEEL SO COMFORTABLE IN THE PUREST WAY WITH NO SUBSTANCES OR ANYTHING BUT RESPECT AND GREAT CONVERSATION ( PS. I appreciate talking in a way I can watch in 1.5x -2x speed but not miss anything) .. LEX is such a deep person with so many layers, his suit, haircut, name, and overall presence give one assumption, but then he talks about things like thrift store suits and hitchhiking and video games, has anyone been able to interview Lex the way he interviews people
Love Channel 5. I live in Vegas, and saw his episode on the unhoused folks who live in the tunnels here. Great piece of compassionate but real journalism.
You mean the homeless bums?
@@stevenobrien557you’re a psychopath
@@stevenobrien557 you're a miserable person. As a previous homeless person who now owns a business, if God was just, he'd put you in that position and show you how it feels. It's extremely hard to crawl out of homelessness. A lot of you losers who look down on less fortunate people will get yours someday.
@@stevenobrien557you forgot junkies
in 30 years we're going to look back at this interview and relish the fact these two impactful individuals not only crossed paths in our time but recorded 3hrs of discussion for us.
two true heroes of our time, both helping to enlighten and show more of life and varying ideas and perspectives.
thank you both for your service!
I just wanted to take a moment to share something with you. Every time I listen see your posts or watch your videos, it feels like I'm surrounded by a gentle strength that I truly admire. Your kindness, your courage, and your wisdom shine through in everything you do. You're like a guiding light for many, reminding me to stay positive and keep pushing forward. It's rare to find someone with such a genuine spirit and pure heart online. You're like a true star, shining bright and making each day a little brighter. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you, even though we've never met in person. Keep being amazing!
Never change
andre your story is amazing man. i found you on youtube randomly years ago and have always loved your stuff. it’s takes a lot to take full accountability and live that present life and you’re killing it in life and youtube. much respect to you
Great interview, I've been following Andrew's work and has really enjoyed it with laughs but also getting a perspective from people I else would never hear from. Great job and keep it up, Lex and Andrew!
Love this interview with Andrew!🎉 Definitely one of my favorite guest on your channel. This is the first that I have heard of this young man. Andrew seems so kind & thoughtful. He is very funny, intelligent, innocent yet very aware. He seems to look for the good with a non-judgmental acceptance and interest in people's differences.. Very anxious to watch his movie on HBO.❤ Thanks Lex for introducing your viewers to another interesting guest.
Excellent episode. Callaghan's interesting life needs to be talked about in-depth like this.
Lex, please feature Hamilton Morris. You'll ask him the right kinds of questions that not a lot of other podcasters have...
YES! Hamilton Morris would be great!
What a great convo with two of the people I respect the most on the platform. Thank you for helping share Andrew's story.
I remember when the sexual assault story came out, I fervently read about it and watched the social media videos on it because I was such a huge fan of Andrew's body of work. Though he has far outgrown Quarter confessions and burning man interviews, I still watch those videos every now and then because of how open people become around him. Now with all he's doing with channel 5, he is easily the best on the line interviewer on the subject of American society and politics. The more I hear about the SA story the more it seemed like someone reaching to get a pay out from a young person finding their fame. I was angry, I would have been furious if I was in his shoes. Responding to that situation with humility and accountability, I don't think even Jesus of Nazareth could have been that humble. None of this is intended to give Andrew a messiah complex, but just to say that as an ardent Channel 5 News viewer, I am even more excited for the next big project in his budding career.
Incredible I could listen to another 3 hours of this
I like these ones a lot. Its more of a conversational than it is an interview.
The air of this interview was super nice. Big thanks to both of you for doing what you do.
That was touching. I would say that was the best interview I’ve seen on your show. Thanks Lex, thanks Andrew.
One of my favorite shows yet. I’m not familiar with this guy but have an interest based on this interview . His authenticity is palpable. Thanks Lex.
I am so glad you had Andrew on, he is pioneering something reel that we all need. i love this and appreciate you both so much
