Oh my goodness, Jodi, i love your videos. My husband passed away in February, and I haven't touched my flower or vegetable gardens. Watching you and listening to you laughing at yourself has sparked something in me. I will go outside tomorrow and get my hands dirty. Thank you so much Jodi.

You inspired me last year to do little every week and I have kept up with it. I have an acre of land and lots of big trees with leaves that weren't taken care of for a lot of years, and even before I moved in 20 years ago. I've got the front yard almost done, it was completely overgrown with volunteer trees. I'm so grateful to you for the motivation and cheering me on. (you should get your hubby to move those big rocks in a circle in that garden area that you planted today)

I absolutely love your videos! I’m in Houston and was a direct line for Hurricane Buryl. No power, no internet, no cell and when I finally got everything restored, 12hrs without, I jumped on UA-cam and your video brought me sunshine and a sense of normalcy back in my life. It’s the simple things in life that bring the most joy. Keep up the great work and know that your positivity shines through.

    Ok, Ideas for your garden:
-take the time to map it and plan it out. That way you’ll know what you really have to do and don’t do the wait twice or ten times.
-Build things! A big sandpit, a patio with a shaded sitting area, a gazebo with a reading/learning space for the girls.. in those places, nothing will grow or have to be maintained 😃 And I bet hubs and Donna will love to plan and build together 💜
    - Maybe even a stongarden? In fall/winter you can cover those with a big tarp, that’ll make leave cleanup very fast and easy. Also: ask for old parachutes, sails, truck tarps.. These huge banners from advertisements work nice too! (If you can stand the face of an old politician or Kellogs or whatnot 😅)
    - Ask for cardboard in your supermarket, CVS and so on, they often have them in masses and don’t care if you deliberately take them 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @keelienne
      @keelienne 17 днів тому

Oh, or put up a greenhouse! For all your seedlings, and maybe growing tomatoes and cucumbers!
Also some herbs are nice to plant outside, depending on your climate. Mint is growing immensely, no weed will stand a chance against her!

Maybe put those leaves where you are not going to plant. Leaves are nature's mulch. Mow where you want it to remain clear. Everything is looking so beautiful. What a difference you have made. I'm proud of you.

Hi! All your garden beds are so beautiful!
I thought about your backyard a lot - here's my idea: Create three zones and go ahead and mark them now
    1. Grass area
    2. Cleared area, no grass, shade loving plants. As you clear weeds from this area put down cardboard and wood chips (wood chips cement down a bit more than mulch so you can leaf blow leaves off in fall) The wood chips will act as mulch for your plants
    3. Wooded area - embrace the leaves, weeds and plants but keep up with removing large plants/volunteer trees.
I may not understand your vision though...I'm sure it's overwhelming. You can do it!

Jodi, next year it might be really fun to grow a variety of pumpkins in the back. They could act as a ground cover crop, to keep weeds down, and wouldn't it be fun to have your grandkids pick out pumpkins from your yard in the fall? You could also make your front porch look so festive using them as decor.

I’m in northeast ND so our weeds are……hardy. 🤣🤣 Woven weed fabric is what I’ve found to work the absolute best! It’s like a plastic-y type of material but it’s woven so water goes through. I got mine from Grower’s Solutions, but it’s sold in a lot of places including at some greenhouses. It comes on a giant roll and you just use landscaping staples to keep it down. It’s a fairly hefty initial cost, but mine has lasted 4 years so far even through the harsh winters! P.S. I just love all of your flowers!! 🌺

Jodi see other post, too. Look up seed saving for each of your annuals. And you can have much more growing for next year. And look into L.E.D. plant lights so you can grow more of them inside. Save all your pots & move into bigger pots until ready to plant... That way your hardening off will not kill as many.
Yes. Your petunias should get bigger and fill in the space better. The new bed looks great. Ok. See you Friday.... 🤔 Maybe!
The euonymous...i used to take colorful zip ties and wrap around where i wanted to cut in the winter so i would only get the branches i wanted removed cut.
It all looks great. Oh and yes. Growing your own is kind of like birthing babies... it's a special connection to GOD that makes us excited!

My lowes only has an orangy red for the hibiscus. I would love to see the pink ones.

Jodi, You and your husband are doing a great job of cleaning out all the weeds in back. This flowerbed that you just got in looks great!! I worked out front in our huge flowerbed today. I cut back spent flowers and some I cut right down. It looks 100% better and I feel so good about having done it. It's raining right now. Yeah!! By the way I live in Northern Il so we are zone 5 for flowers and shrubs.

Hey Jodi. You really do very nice work in the garden. It looks so pretty. I bet that bush comes back full and strong. So many plants are toxic to pets and some also to people. I wish I'd known about the Croton before I bought it.
