Oh my goodness, Jodi, i love your videos. My husband passed away in February, and I haven't touched my flower or vegetable gardens. Watching you and listening to you laughing at yourself has sparked something in me. I will go outside tomorrow and get my hands dirty. Thank you so much Jodi.
Sorry to hear you lost your husband. I'm glad Jodi could give you a spark and help give you an extra happy thought!
Sorry for your loss ❤❤❤❤
I am so sorry for your loss. I am so sure putting a smile on your hubby face would thrill him so much ‼️ May the angels surround you and fill your heart with his love 💕
@amandaemerson4466 Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot to me.
@MarshaCaughill Thank you for caring. Jodi has so many thoughtful viewers.
You inspired me last year to do little every week and I have kept up with it. I have an acre of land and lots of big trees with leaves that weren't taken care of for a lot of years, and even before I moved in 20 years ago. I've got the front yard almost done, it was completely overgrown with volunteer trees. I'm so grateful to you for the motivation and cheering me on. (you should get your hubby to move those big rocks in a circle in that garden area that you planted today)
I absolutely love your videos! I’m in Houston and was a direct line for Hurricane Buryl. No power, no internet, no cell and when I finally got everything restored, 12hrs without, I jumped on UA-cam and your video brought me sunshine and a sense of normalcy back in my life. It’s the simple things in life that bring the most joy. Keep up the great work and know that your positivity shines through.
Oh Kelly I’m glad you are safe!! And glad everything got restored. Thanks for such a sweet comment 🤗
Every week Jodi, trimming my bushes every week! 😂😅😂
Soon your neighbors will call you the flower lady. That's so beautiful!!🌻🥀
Awe thanks Holly. That would be a dream ❤️
You are doing so much work . Everything is turning out so beautiful with all the plants. It is so nice to walk around to all the areas you are making. Turning out so wonderful enjoy!
Ok, Ideas for your garden:
-take the time to map it and plan it out. That way you’ll know what you really have to do and don’t do the wait twice or ten times.
-Build things! A big sandpit, a patio with a shaded sitting area, a gazebo with a reading/learning space for the girls.. in those places, nothing will grow or have to be maintained 😃 And I bet hubs and Donna will love to plan and build together 💜
- Maybe even a stongarden? In fall/winter you can cover those with a big tarp, that’ll make leave cleanup very fast and easy. Also: ask for old parachutes, sails, truck tarps.. These huge banners from advertisements work nice too! (If you can stand the face of an old politician or Kellogs or whatnot 😅)
- Ask for cardboard in your supermarket, CVS and so on, they often have them in masses and don’t care if you deliberately take them 🤷🏻♀️
Oh, or put up a greenhouse! For all your seedlings, and maybe growing tomatoes and cucumbers!
Also some herbs are nice to plant outside, depending on your climate. Mint is growing immensely, no weed will stand a chance against her!
Maybe put those leaves where you are not going to plant. Leaves are nature's mulch. Mow where you want it to remain clear. Everything is looking so beautiful. What a difference you have made. I'm proud of you.
I drill holes in small stumps prior to using any chemical to help it go in to roots. Guy at ACE told me to do this.
Jodie, You have worked so hard on planting all your beautiful flowers!! Everything is amazing. You really made a lot of headway on the back yard!!! Working in small amounts of time is the way to. Go!! It is really that hubby helps when he can! Ty for sharing your videos! I love them.
I love your gardening videos, Jodi!! It’s so much fun to see you transform spaces! 🎉Love it!! Your front yard looks incredible!
Weed barrier with pea gravel. You could use the leaf blower to get the leaves off the pea gravel.
Hi! All your garden beds are so beautiful!
I thought about your backyard a lot - here's my idea: Create three zones and go ahead and mark them now
1. Grass area
2. Cleared area, no grass, shade loving plants. As you clear weeds from this area put down cardboard and wood chips (wood chips cement down a bit more than mulch so you can leaf blow leaves off in fall) The wood chips will act as mulch for your plants
3. Wooded area - embrace the leaves, weeds and plants but keep up with removing large plants/volunteer trees.
I may not understand your vision though...I'm sure it's overwhelming. You can do it!
Jodi you are doing a fantastic job! Everything is looking great. We've been in our home 10 years and it was not loved, we have slowly transformed and continue to transform it every year. Little by little I say.
That’s incredible Delmy ❤️
The easiest place to get cardboard is at the grocery store every time you go. In the produce department. They're happy to save it for you and give it to you.
That garden bed out back looks fabulous! Enjoy your day!
I am so impressed by the work you get done. I'm much older than you, late 70's, so I work more slowly. Yes, we all wish we could afford help with our gardens, but we simply do the best we can. Just keep plugging away, and enjoy our results!
Thank you so much Terry 🤗
Wow, your flowers are so pretty!!!! Flower beds and stepping stones are the only thing I can think of to help control your weeds.
Thank you Michele ❤️
Jodi, next year it might be really fun to grow a variety of pumpkins in the back. They could act as a ground cover crop, to keep weeds down, and wouldn't it be fun to have your grandkids pick out pumpkins from your yard in the fall? You could also make your front porch look so festive using them as decor.
That would be fun. I’ll have to look if pumpkins need a lot of sun though
Your yard is looking great. Great job on working on the weeds and planting flowers 🎉
That Caladium is beautiful! The leaves are so big that it looks almost like an elephant’s ear. Lol! Everything is looking so great! Your yard is proof that just plugging away, working when you can, can yield steady results. The way I look at it is-at least we are getting some exercise and the serotonin benefits of being out in nature 😊
So true! I’m getting lots of exercise and time in nature ❤️
Thank you
Cardboard covered with wood chips to keep weeds at bay. Some areas have frèe chip drops.❤ You can punch through the cardboars to plant ground covers too.
I would say it’s once you get it under control. You can weed wack and keep it down. That’s what I do
Yes looking forward to getting to that point. Thanks Kristy 🤗
All your hard work is paying off in triplicate . Just beautiful!
You have your own little forest ❤ It's so beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️
Oh Jodi! The garden looks so beautiful! I love spending time outside with you ❤ Toni
oh i LOVE Laura from Garden Answers!! i have learned so much from her and gained so much garden confidence 💛
She’s great ❤️
Your garden is so beautiful! I'm jealous 😂 Great job with your garden😊
some lawn covering plants would look so good in the backyard where the weeds grow! it will help with the weeds, and look beautiful!
We have a few people in our neighborhood that have these super soft little 3" Ferns. They are soooo soft looking, seem to be fine in full sun, would love to get them started in my yard.
Clover is a great ground cover that attracts pollinators, red clover is especially pretty.
I have 3 small bushes and I’m thinking of giving them a sphere shape so your video gave me more courage to try at least on one. 😅 beautiful work!
Yes go for it. It will grow out and you’ll do a great job ❤️
I am so proud of you and your gardens. Can't wait to see everything in bloom. ❤
Depending on where u stay u can get moving boxes cheap and u can brake them up to use the cardboard ❤
🤗🤗
I love that you call all your plants she. I am decluttering the cups. They seem to multiple in the cabinet.
Laurie they do seem to multiply 😂
Jodi you're never gonna be able to stop making videos... we have to see all your beautiful flowers fully grown 😂. Love your videos
I know right 😂
Love your infectious enthusiasm about your gardening ❣️
Thank you Cynthia 🤗
I’m in northeast ND so our weeds are……hardy. 🤣🤣 Woven weed fabric is what I’ve found to work the absolute best! It’s like a plastic-y type of material but it’s woven so water goes through. I got mine from Grower’s Solutions, but it’s sold in a lot of places including at some greenhouses. It comes on a giant roll and you just use landscaping staples to keep it down. It’s a fairly hefty initial cost, but mine has lasted 4 years so far even through the harsh winters! P.S. I just love all of your flowers!! 🌺
My daughter is in her 40s now and she loves working with flowers and out in the yard. She said I always thought you were crazy and I never did understand the piece that it brought you working in the yard now I do so your girls will get it as they get older too.
Wow! Now that bush really looks great! It saying TY now I can breath!!LOL!! I have a hibiscus in a pot! It’s beautiful! I am trying to propagate one now! Fingers crossed! Amazing flower bed!
Nice gardening! I was visited by deer this week and lost quite a few beautiful flowers and strawberry plants. Yes, we spray but we have had so much rain it washes away! I hope you have a great weeki!
Looking forward to see how the hanging baskets fairs.
Me too Kelly. I’ll keep you updated ❤️
I love the deck garden. All the pots and bed looks great. Front looks awesome too.
Great yard cleaning you two ! Love the red plant and all your flowers 💐!😊❤
Hey Jodi! That area seems to be a mix of sunshine and shade. I envision a beautiful shade garden of perennials such as hostas, heucheras and several bushy plants, such as hydrangeas. The giant hostas such as Empress Wu, Sum and Substance and Frances Williams would beautifully fill the space and look magnificent!
I have several hydrangeas in the back now and they don’t well because there isn’t enough sun. I need to dig them up and move them 😊
You are making great progress!!🎉🎉🎉
On the Euonymus cut out all the plain green stems , you don’t want it to go all green , maybe give it a feed after the trimming . I have this one as well as the golden one .👍
The golden ones are so beautiful! Yes I like variegated leaves on mine. I’ll make sure the all greens ones I remove. Thanks for the tip ❤️
I hear you about those quick and easy projects. It seems all my projects take twice as long as I originally anticipate.
You may need to take that euonymus to the ground for a total refresh. I've done this before, and the shrub flushes beautiful new growth.
Yes they always take longer. Thank you for the advice on the euonymus. I think you’re right ❤️
Garden looks pretty all the flowers are pretty I put daylilies in my garden they help your soil they put oxygen in your dirt to help the other flowers I don't know if you like them but you can plant them in the next year separate them we give you more flowers for your flower garden that your flower gardens are turning out beautiful
I have tons of daylilies in my yard. They seem to multiple 😂
The yard looks beautiful Jodi.
Thank you so much Paula 🤗
Hi, Jodi! I have all my cardboard needs met by my Amazon purchases😂😂😂 lol!! I’m sincerely trying to stop the incessant ordering. Anyway, great job that you and hubs have done. On last week’s video, I forgot to mention have you thought of getting a sponsor for a greenhouse so you would have more room for your seedlings and such? I’m sure they would jump at the chance to work with you. Take care and have a great week.
My Hibiscus are huge..🌺love them. Also, I’ve done the cardboard trick this year. Game changer.👌🏻
I know what you mean I just some little seeds in the ground & beautiful flowers grow... I did my flowers & veggies almost all from seeds this year! I love your Caladium & Hibiscus they are gorgeous!! 😊
Oh so glad you watched Laura! You and her are my only for sure watches every time there is a video!
Awe thanks Ardis. Yes Laura has so much knowledge about gardening ❤️
Jodi, we just dodged a mini hurricane Beryl. It was headed our way and ended up above Corpus Cristi, and it only gave us some much needed rain in our area. It saves us some on the water bill.
Wow it looks so good ❤️💙🤍❤️💙🤍
Your yard looks amazing! So much hard work, my back would be killing me. You've done a great job!
Spray the area with vinegar you can get it from lowes or homedepot
LOVE the garden bed!! It turned out beautifully!!
Hello from NC. Your gardening videos inspire me so much. Thanks a bunch.
Hi
Maybe an option could be mini clover
It is ok with shade and should be low maintenance
Hi I love your channel ,but you should try some Begonias they grow so easy and are beautiful my mother always planted them I believe you will be so 😁 Try them they come back over and over. She was a real gardner
I love how your flower beds are looking. We are having such a hot summer here in Kentucky I didn’t do any flowers this year but I’m hoping I can in the fall.
Fall flowers will be so pretty ❤️
Everything is looking beautiful Jodi! 🌺🌻
Jodi see other post, too. Look up seed saving for each of your annuals. And you can have much more growing for next year. And look into L.E.D. plant lights so you can grow more of them inside. Save all your pots & move into bigger pots until ready to plant... That way your hardening off will not kill as many.
Yes. Your petunias should get bigger and fill in the space better. The new bed looks great. Ok. See you Friday.... 🤔 Maybe!
The euonymous...i used to take colorful zip ties and wrap around where i wanted to cut in the winter so i would only get the branches i wanted removed cut.
It all looks great. Oh and yes. Growing your own is kind of like birthing babies... it's a special connection to GOD that makes us excited!
All of your gardens look awesome 😊
Thank you so much Elaine ❤️
So beautiful and lovely ‼️♥️🌺🌸🪻🌹🌷🌻🌼💐
Thank you Debbie 🤗
Hi Jodi, love all your garden beds. Your back yard ( the woods) is looking so much better. God bless.
Your flowers are looking so pretty, all the hard work is really paying off.
Your gardens are beautiful! I love hibiscus, we have two of them and they are so pretty, yours look great!!
Hi Jodi. Your yard is looking beautiful.
Thank you Joyce 🤗
My mom’s yard is very wooded & beautiful like yours. She LOVES pachysandra as a groundcover/weed control. She started with a very small amount & just keeps dividing it. Admittedly, it will take a couple of years to really spread, but when it does, it is beautiful & does a great job! Hope that helps!!
I love Laura from Garden Answer too, I have been watching her for a while now.
Jodi, I am always excited to see when you post a video! 🌻🌺🪻🌸🌹🌼🌷💐☀️
Thank you Dianna 🤗
@@jodidunnmymessylife1847 you’re very welcome!
You & your Mom have bonded over the dahlias!
Good morning Jodi! Always enjoy your videos especially your yard/garden videos. Your flower beds and yard are really coming along. We had a bad hail storm here this past weekend I lost a few flowers which were blooming so pretty. Look forward to your video on Friday!😀🌺🌺
Awe darn it. It’s so sad to lose flowers due to weather
Hibiscus tea is absolutely delicious. When the bloom is done, pick the petals and dry them out then steep them in hot water. ITS SO GOOD! I drink it every day. Its great for blood pressure and has vitamins and minerals. You should try sometime Jodi!
Would have me never known that. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Beautiful new bed.
Thank you Denise ❤️
107 degrees today in Tucson,AZ. Hot day! I have to water only a few plants mostly cactus plants in my yard.
Love the new flower bed! Your yard is becoming an oasis!!
Looks beautiful!!!
Wow, everything is gorgeous
Thank you so much ❤️
Wow it looks amazing!!!
Thank you Roberta ❤️
You'll need to drill drenage holes in your outdoor pot (in case it doesn't have them)
I trimmed up my hanging baskets of bubble gum supertunias. I stuck the cut stems in a pot and most have lived and are growing. I was so excited. lol. I knew you could do this with plants but just never thought about doing it with the petunias. Love the big trees in your back yard. I wish I had more shade.
Oh my gosh that’s so exciting ❤️❤️❤️
I’m not new but I’m back again I love ❤️ your videos
You're doing such a great job! It's such hard work but you make it look easy.
Happy Tuesday Jodi ❤️! Your yard is looking so beautiful with all of the work you and the husband have accomplished. Have a great week!
Wow! Those flowers 💐 look beautiful 🎉
I love pink❤❤
🌸🌹🌺🌼🎍💐 lovely gardens!
Great job ❤❤❤❤❤
You are amazing! Your garden by the patio looks great, especially that bush you trim what a difference. I love those Hibiscus bushes. I want one so bad, but I just haven't got one yet! Our Racket club where we go swimming has some there & they're huge! They're all most as tall as I am & I'm 6 ft. The flower has to be 8"to20" wide! You are sure making your back yard a sanctuary for sure, birds, squirrels, & you & your family to enjoy! Thanks for sharing! ♥️☺️🫂🧵🪡🐾🦋🌹✨️
Thanks for the video and motivation Jodi. I just love the way you have transformed your home and now yard. You inspire me. God Bless.
Luv it, looks Great
Its looking very nice , your hanging baskets are awesome.
Hi, the garden is so beautiful , well done. Yay for bonus videos, have you stopped finance Friday? X
Good morning, Jodi. Love your garden videos. Have a blessed day!
Thank you so much ❤️
My lowes only has an orangy red for the hibiscus. I would love to see the pink ones.
Looks beautiful
My Hibiscus are huge..🌺love them.
Jodi, You and your husband are doing a great job of cleaning out all the weeds in back. This flowerbed that you just got in looks great!! I worked out front in our huge flowerbed today. I cut back spent flowers and some I cut right down. It looks 100% better and I feel so good about having done it. It's raining right now. Yeah!! By the way I live in Northern Il so we are zone 5 for flowers and shrubs.
Yay Angelica. Getting everything trimmed and cleaned up is a great feeling ❤️
Hey Jodi. You really do very nice work in the garden. It looks so pretty. I bet that bush comes back full and strong. So many plants are toxic to pets and some also to people. I wish I'd known about the Croton before I bought it.
