3 Years in Just 10 Minutes | Timelapse Backyard Renovation | Full Garden Transformation
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Today I am sharing my backyard renovation that is 3 years in the making. This space started off full of rocks and pavers. I created a garden, removed pavers, and 100 of lbs of rocks, demolished the deck, and transformed this space into something wonderful. This is still a work in progress!

you go girl! I love it when women show creativity and physicality!
You did a great job using what you had and building from there. It takes time and patience. Love your progress❤
Lots of patience!
One thing I do is put a layer of cardboard down before mulching. Cardboard is biodegradable and will eventually disintegrate. It does a really good job of suppressing weeds and, if you are like me, getting cardboard is free either from my own shopping or from Marketplace from people who’ve moved.
Yes, I used cardboard in my front garden. My only mistake was forgetting to remove the tape from the boxes. :/
Exactly what I do too. If you get an area later with weeds, just rake back the mulch and replace some cardboard. Instant refresh.
What a worker you are! I find putting some Biotone Startup fertilizer into each hole as I plant really helps things get off to a good start. Enjoy your yard!
Thanks for the tip
I use compost in each hole when planting. It helps the plants energy
This was a very enjoyable video. I love your garden and dog! I also appreciate your positive vibe. Thanks!
Thank you! This means so much
So happy to see someone who is joyfully maintaining their home! Good job!
God blessed you with a lovely home and you are being a good steward of your blessing.
Thank you! Always a work in progress 💕
Housewarmin, you inspire me. And your little dog too! Thanks Toto
I love how your dog kept you energized.
Love your little furry helper! Your hard work is amazing. Looks fantastic!
Such a lot of work but great result. Looks very nice. Your doggie is an adorable helper.
Omg I'm so glad m not the only one who has a supervisor 😂❤. He also wants to be let into the house after a while and a bowl brought out just incase he gets hungry 😊
You are a “doer”. A person who likes to get things done. Nice to see
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
You are very much like my wife. Give her a spade and she is off digging all day. Nice work 👍
Just a quick tip that someone passed on to me, line your coir with baby diapers. They absorb and store excess water and keep your potting soil from washing away with watering. Great job!
Great tip!
We had rocks in our back yard too. It was a lot of work to remove them. Kudos to you! Your project looks fantastic.
I’m still finding rocks to this day 🥲🥲
Great job !!
You are a BEAST! Be careful gardening is adictive.
Loved it
Great job! So pretty.
Thank you! 😊
Mostly looks great! Should’ve left the deck or just redone it. There is nowhere to get out of the wet!
@@AnneluvsKatz I see your point. I just wanted more green space for my dog.
This is encouraging to watch as my yard looks worse than yours but it gave me hope that mine can look that good in time as well. However, is that your soil? It looks good. I have very clay, dry soil and the only thing that I can see that grows in it is weeds and spiders.
I have clay soil too! Becuase the previous owner put rocks down, the soil is still full of pebbles. We also have a ton of tree roots in our soil. So don’t feel bad. 😅
You did not amend the soil in any way? And you did not fully remove weeds before sowing the grass seed?
I didn’t, im not a perfect gardener, and that’s okay 😇
Very nice 👍 ❤thanks for sharing hope you have a wonderful blessed day today in our true Lord God and SAVIOR Jesus Christ bye 👋
It would have been nice to see the actual garden.
If you want to see more, I have an entire playlist!
I dislike gardens with rock, so I must ask, what did you do with all the rock you removed?
To be honest, I just dumped it at a construction site near me lol. I didn't really have a way to get rid of it.
@@HousewarminThanks for the reply. I don’t know why they put rocks down in the first place as it’s such a bummer to get rid of them. I prefer a garden full of color and texture. You did a bang up job on your garden and I’m proud of you! Hang it there, cuz once you start gardening, you’ll never go back. It’s a process-it doesn’t happen all at once. So as you look around your yard you will be able to envision the other things you’d like to do. Great job my friend. Linda
Gardening is therapy. I love the smell of the dirt as I’m digging to put something in the ground. Your yard came out so beautiful and you did a great job!!
There’s no doubt that you’ve put your heart and soul into your yard. However, why didn’t your remove the weeds before you planted your grass? You threw your mulch in directly over the weeds. I’ve always had less maintenance issues if I removed the weeds ahead of planting anything.
My garden is a mess 😢
Nothing a little TLC can’t fix
3 years? Did you mean 3 weeks?
Nope. 3 years! I started this project in 2021 😅
Hello, where did you get that awful music?
UA-cam 🥰🥰🥰 I can send you the link?
I like how your supervisor (wearing the bandanna) is there with you every step of the way. This was a fun project for him too. 😄
Yes! Haha. His name is Cole. He's very helpful lol.
Congratulations on a wonderful garden. Removing rock is sooooo hard--I still have more to shift in my front garden. Be Proud!
No matter where a dig, there are still MORE rocks deep in the soil 😭😭😭
Your dedication to having a beautiful 🏠 is no small feat. Congratulations 🥳🎉🎊
Thank you so much! 😊
Great job and I see your little doggie loves to help.
He’s the best helper!
❤👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
As we say here in Ireland “ you’re some woman for one woman “ ! That’s a compliment by the way !
@@marianraftery I love that saying!
So much for sharing a wonderful video and sharing all the wonderful update you put to this property. I know it’s a lot of hard work, but it paid off for me and you look at her beautiful this property is now with all the love and hugs if you could in today
Oh my god you did so much! That must've been so exhausting I admire you so much
This has been a 3 year process, so I definitely took my time. Lots of elbow grease tho!
Hard work paid off! What a beautiful improvement !
Love the dog helper!
🎶🙏🏾🦋🐸
To me, gardening is a labor of love. As our gardening experience grows, so does our garden. I always remember Mother Nature may have a different idea for our garden. Therefore, I preserve and learn from my gardening mistakes for another season. ❤ Beautifully done ✌️
I feel like gardening provides daily lessons in perseverance, patience, delayed expectations, humility, and humor in that gardens, like the universe, do not exist for you to control. The volunteers (self-sowers) always look better than the fussed over flowers. The “mammoth Russian sunflowers” are 8’ tall one year and 3’ tall the next! The deer eat deer resistant native species. The chipmunks dig under the raised beds and the rabbits nest in the tulips. It’s all a delusion of control.
You had me at the flowerbed but my heart burst with joy when you tore up the deck. Love the timeline on this project, it really makes it one of the best DIY videos I’ve seen. I bet your little one loves the back yard!
Oh wow! Thank you so much for the compliment!
I'm so jealous. This is what I want, rooms. Unfortunately my husband loves his grass. He's gotten better over the years but not to this extent.
You have so much energy, looks beautiful!
My body was aching for you. But what a beautiful transformation! Love how you laid it all out. I'll bet you love looking out at the fruit of your labors every single day! Great job!
Great work!💗
👏👏👏👏good job
Thank you! 😃
This transformation was truly a labor of love. Such a stunning space🪴
It looks beautiful and your dog is so cute!
Looks great, very creative.
Looks like a nice backyard space. So green and pretty.☺️
Always a work in progress ☺️
You did a great job. ❤
You’re an inspiration and I love how much your little pup “helps”!😊
He is always “helping” 🤣
Gardening has become my obsession! I bought my first home 10 years ago and planning, planting, and maintaining my yard has been my hobby! Don't ask to see the inside of my house! lol. I just bought a battery powered trimmer....GAME CHANGER! I was hand pruning all of my shrubs which is time consuming. Not anymore with a trimmer!
Wow! What a grafter you are, well done Mars, respect from the UK 🇬🇧 👏
Yes! Black mulch is my favorite! That’s a lot of work, especially removing rocks. Great job! I’m wondering what those round slotted things are in your beds. Are they French drains? If so, I’d love to hear more about them. I need one badly!
Awwww sweetheart. You are an Energiser battery in human form!!! Sending you so much love and support from Glasgow in Scotland ❤.
In the words of Arethra... sisters are doing it for themselves!!! Got to get some borage, zinnia, nasturtiums, cosmos and climbers in there!!!
You had a dream....Karen xxxxxx
Well done girl! Clearly this was not a challenge for you as you absolutely blitzed it and the end result is fabulous! And you e added value to your home.
Winning on every level 🙌🤩♥️
Evidence why landscape cloth is so useless. My arthritic knuckle tingles as I watch you pull all that up. Cardboard disintegrates and keeps moisture in.
Heaven forbid someone else buys the house and wants to do something better.
You're an inspiration. Let's see if I do anything good with it. I'm 70, so I'll go for a less ambitious goal.
Amazinh results 🎉Your puppy 🐶 did a great job 😅 too
lol, im in the middle of the video and i just had to comment (since I said it out loud here in my place...LMAO), but cousin, I LUV LUV LUV the black ground cover, very sexy garden!...I think it looks wonderful!
Haha! I'm glad you like it!!
Great video. Looks like you’ve made a wonderful space to enjoy every single day.
I did see the start of this film, but then I had to stop.
The musik was SO stressfuld😱
Well done all around sis! Keep going? Landscaping is so relaxing.
Great job! Your grass is so green and thick and love the plants too
You are a PRO!!! just amazing...my only critique...you forgot to acknowledge your 4 legged "helper"...😊
Good call!
Landscape fabric is a soil killer and the weeds will grow on top of it.
Beautiful. A lot of love and joy. (I do disagree with putting mulch around the A/C. Could have opted for laying 3 or 4 stepping stones with river rock around everything. The rock is for drainage.) I love the whole project, it has turned out beautiful and showing your love and joy. Great Job!
I understand. At the time, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with that area. And honestly, I’m still not sure. lol.
Fantastic job sweetheart. Well done 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Well done. Beautiful yard and done with handtools.! Wow
Those rocks were doing a good job of keeping moisture away from your house😢. Also, StAugustine will be taking over all-get a whip (I mean serious weed puller)
They actually were not. The yard never floods now.
I enjoyed watching your garden vision come to life. What is your zone? I liked to see the beginning of planting in drifts. How did the hay rack work out.? I will be watching for more updates.
@@mjb9176 I am a zone 9A in Louisiana. And it has held up! I have to replace the liner once a year.
Music is AWFUL!
I’ve been told 😭
I love gardening as well. Great for not only the mind and exercise but the soul as well. I do put down a layer of cardboard first before mulching.
hint:
Controls weeds as well as it's biodegradable. Wet it thoroughly before mulching. Love your garden hope to see more soon.
Yes! I did that in my front yard,
Seems you've got clay soil, a good remedy for that is sowing lupins for a couple of years. They break up the clay and the roots leave organic matter that is good for other plants, they usually have some nodules on the roots that contain nitrogen which make plants grow well.
@@kennethstensrud669 thanks for the tip!!
Wow! You go girl. What an amazingly beautiful transformation all your hard work generated. Brava!
💕💕💕
Great job! A woman after my own heart!❤️👍
Hey we see you didn't do that deck all by yourself. Give credit where credit's due that pup was with you every step of the way. Great job by the way.
Haha! My puppy Cole says thank you!
Great job ⭐️ The soil in your yard & area under the deck seems to hold a lot of water. How is the drainage?
Grass is growing there now, and I haven’t had any issues.
you did a great job!! a lot of hard work!
I see you have a supervisor checking your work closely. 🐕
Always!
Wow! Truly amazing! I enjoyed this so much. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lots of work. but a fine result. I love the petunia combo of red and purple.
Yes, Most wouldn't think to pair red and purple together.
Thanks for the motivation ‼️
Hi Mars! Just found you. I loved watching you work because I did the same project in my yard. It's ongoing. Looks great.
Thanks for watching! Work in the garden is never done, so keep on working.
@@Housewarmin Will do! You too!
Great job! Love watching the progress. Just FYI. I’d probably put down a thicker mulch to help control those weeds in the flower bed.
Mulching is my least favorite task haha. But, thanks for the tip!
@@Housewarmin gotcha. Weeding is my least favorite. My back does not like it!
Good plant selection, my choice too
Why don’t you pull the weeds from “lawn” and beds?
I do, on occasion
This is a great transformation! But I’m watching you plant nursery plants without first cutting or pulling the roots out of their rootbound pot shape & loosening them before transplanting. All those plants will die in a month if you don’t first do that 😢. If you find your plants not settling in try digging some up and loosening the roots; you can do this even after planting them & they will thrive. Happy gardening!
I’ve read that that is a myth and unless a plant is really root bound, it should be fine. My biggest problem is the rocky soil. But thanks for the tip!
@@Housewarmin I learned the hard way, definitely not a myth; I lost a lot of plants due to not loosening the roots when I was starting out, first container gardening & later in the country. If you see one wilting despite watering it, it may be due to this issue; if you notice in time you can try digging it up and loosening the roots & replanting. On another note: your video convinced me not to build a wooden deck! prying up rotting boards looks exhausting 😹
Don't you love demo? I demoed a concrete patio my dad put down because I wanted the garden space! I couldn't lift the sledge hammer, so I kept dropping it on the slab. Turned those pieces into pavers! 💝
Sometimes you have to get creative! 💪🏾
@@Housewarmin so true! My neighbor used to tell me I do a lot for a girl. Yep! 😀
Where’s your food garden???
You did an excellent job!
Would have watched, but that "music" OFF
I've been told
Love the puppy helping! 😂
You did a wonderful job. Looks great!!
I appreciate it! Thanks!
Beautiful work ❤
Beautiful! LOVED this video! I stared gardening and improving my home after the pandemic in 2022. Just found your channel 🙂
Well done. Love that you are demonstrating what can be accomplished with basic tools, patience and loving what you do. Take a bow.
Wonderful job.
You do wonderful work!
Interesting and motivating! But the music is much to loud…and stressfull for me.
Sorry! You can always turn it down and jam to your own music 😅😅
@@Housewarmin I won’t ear you!
