This is really good. Congrats to Aventine for the art, congrats to you for the idea, & I'm gonna stand on business and say that the prequel movies, while having deep flaws, has in my opinion aged pretty damn well in regards to its themes and the ideas it introduces + it does have really cool moments
I remember I used to have the lego set for this fighter (before I...repurposed the parts for other lego builds) and I loved flying it in Star Wars Starfighter. Awesome to see it reimagined for the ST universe!
Honestly, I feel like the original Y-Wing works better for TOS era. The smother body of the Clone Wars version, it'd probably have that as TNG or STO era.
I've always liked that fighter too. It looks really cool as a Star Trek version! Maybe someone will make a video with it now. Maybe a squad in a battle. That would be epic.
Yeah, that's part of the reason I wanted to do this video. After I posted the original image, it got spread around and a lot of people didn't bother to credit Aventine or me.
This kind of makes me wonder how would other fighter and starfighter craft look like if they were redesigned or retrofitted for Star Trek, like IRL fighter jets and Star Wars starfighters. One ship I would love to see redesigned for Star Trek would be the Arwing from Star Fox.
Warning - I'm kind of an airplane nerd so everything below might be weird for most people lol, sorry in advance I saw someone had done a photoshop of a B-52 as a Star Trek ship - admittedly it was for a joke about the IRL B-52s seemingly endless longevity, but it was funny to see it with warp nacelles in place of the engines and in the basic grey of Starfleet. As far as more serious conversions to Trek ships from RL planes... I actually think the F-104 Starfighter would be a good pick; it carried wingtip fuel tanks that could easily become nacelles; and while I admit it's rather pointy for a Starfleet design, I could easily see it as an experimental fighter/shuttlecraft/recon ship type deal. Alternatively the F-14 Tomcat could be a fun conversion. Variable geometry has already been done with Voyager, so why not swing-wings? ... actually almost wonder if the F-14 might be a good basis for a Bird of Prey design rather than Starfleet. Hrm...
Really good direct adaptation, and would still look good on a screen! Would have preferred the A-Wing myself but to each their own. The only changes I would necessarily make would be to have the pylons attach to the top of the nacelles (to make sure they can "see" each-other enough to properly fit the design rules) and add some rectangular shaping to indicate flip-out footrests/ladder so people can climb in without clambering on the wing or using an external ladder.
Not sure how I'd adapt the A-Wing into Star Trek's aesthetic. The Naboo Fighter was easy because of those large engine pods it had, they could easily be swapped out for warp nacelles. I want to do something similar to the Y-Wing as well, eventually.
Love it even as a non big Star Wars Fan. I like but not enough to import its ships. But I love this. About the 3D renders maybe tri angulum audio Here on UA-cam could help.
I thought it was Thomas Marrone who commissioned that. It was his post I saw that on, commented on, and gave credit to - along with Aventine of course. Love that design, though. It's clearly the Naboo starfighter but with a Star Trek skin. Some people may deride it as a "lazy" recolor and re-lore, sure - but hey, if it works, it works. Clearly it isn't lazy, I mean even if you don't have to perform any actual design work you still have to paint it and write the backstory to make it fit into the new lore. Just because it's less work, that doesn't mean it's lazy. I do a lot of similar stuff for my own RP subfaction, the Draconia Cosmo Navy, taking existing STO ships and giving them a new lore with no visual changes other than pattern and occasionally a new paintjob. Also, Phantom-class... doing a quick search we already have an Intel spec ship that goes by that name in STO (Phantom intel escort), so it'd need another one if it were going to go into the game.
I know Thomas retweeted it when I posted it, but no, I was the one that commissioned Aventine. and yeah, i know the name Phantom is already used in STO. Didn't really feel like coming up with something else. Plus I'm not a huge fan of those old Intel ships, anyway.
I mean, as a playable ship, yeah. But hangar pets are still a thing in STO... Not that they could use this, as it is a fan design. Not just a fan design, but one based on a ship from a different IP.
LOVE this idea, sadly there isn't much reason to have small craft in STO outside of a few episode missions and TFOs that no one seems to run, and i'm sure there is a few Fleets out there that do small craft only pvp stuff internally. Either way its still an awesome idea and design.
great job send me 6 squadrons now for my ships hangars😁, and what would an x-wing look like with a star trek design ?? thxs x share and greetings from Argentina 😎👍
it looks nice but I'd have probably underslung the nacelles more. poor pilot will not be long for this world. gotta be void between them because they cook anything that's between them.
You know.... With how good inertial dampeners are in both Star Trek and Star Wars, I really wish there would be a fighter craft that would exploit that more thoroughly. Like making a ship built to fight while strafing around its target, while the cockpit always faces it. Pointing all of its firing solution towards it and making it easier to evade the enemy's direct line of fire. It's how I fight in space ship games like Empyrion or space Engineers and it's always proved to be effective. I basically ensure that the ship has high amounts of thrust in all directions, only prioritizing forward thrust a little more then any other facing. I could see this being achieved more easily with gimbled propulsion. This method of fighting is admittedly more dangerous in space occupied by debris though. But when well piloted, this kind of ship is pretty much untouchable. Specially if it's kept to as small a profile as possible. I feel like impulse drive or the ion thruster tech from tie fighters would be ideal to achieve this kind of movement.
Even if we did, legally, they can't use it. They can't use fan designs, which this is. More than that, it's a fan design based on something from a totally different IP, which I assume would present even more complications. It's just something I had made for fun.
Nice ship! Hold on to it, the way dudsney is going Skydance might be able to buy SW for 50k one day ( no way is it a billion dollar property anymore) 😉
thx is lit! love the concept, realy great idea, and turned out so awesome ^^ if anyone from DEKA sees this: Star Trek X Star Wars crossover when? 😅 would be so cool to fly this in STO, or even just get it as hangar pets 😍
While I prefer the X-Wing myself, the Naboo fighter is undeniably good looking. The Prequel trilogy had a lot of meh bits, but it had some *fantastic* art and visual direction. (And music, but who's even remotely surprised that Star Wars has good music right?) Also probably one of the most Trek-looking Star Wars ships around. (I'll be honest, I never understood the supposed fandom rivalry between these two franchises, love them both. They're so completely different from each other in everything from tone to focus to technology that... honestly other than "There's space stuff going on" they're barely in the same genre. Sorry I know that's a tangent, but yeah, it's one of those things that's bugged me for literal decades at this point.) *edit* Also I forgot to comment on the art in the video - IT'S RAD. Absolutely awesome work from the artist there and a great project idea in general Stu. 10/10, would fly in STO if it were somehow in game.
Yeah this is awesome! I really like the idea of bringing ships from other Sce-Fi-Franchises into ST, and that is exactly it (plus it's also very very well made)! I'm just wondering: If this ship has a Warp drive, where would the Warp Core go? Just a genuine question, idk if I miss smth ovbvious here.
Honestly, i didn't really think about it. Probably somewhere near the bottom or back of the craft. All I really thought about was that we've seen plenty of warp capable shuttles in Star Trek (which are mostly empty space), so by STO's era I bet they'd be able to make warp cores pretty compact.

I'd love to see a Star Trek version of either Slave 1 or Vader's TIE 1 Advanced and or maybe Ace Combat 7's ADFX-10
Now to get it to EC Henry to turn it into a full 3D model. :P
Man, I WISH! With his experience making models for STO and his own original project, I bet he'd do an amazing job on this.
The yellow cockpit could be an ejectable workbee cockpit.
I genuinely Like this, I would fly it in STO.
Triangulum audio studios would probably have a blast turning this into a model, you two could easily flesh out the backstory too
This is really good. This is an amazing take on the Naboo.
If there was one made like this for STO - I would love to fly that. Great video!
I do love the Naboo fighter. And Princess Amidala's ship. That was gorgeous.
The clone wars era Y-wing just change a few things and it fits into the tos era
Honestly, I feel like the original Y-Wing works better for TOS era. The smother body of the Clone Wars version, it'd probably have that as TNG or STO era.

God bless you madlad! I LOVE it!

Outstanding! I had a similar idea for a Starfleet X-Wing, some 25 years ago, that I'd totally forgotten until seeing this.
Love it even as a non big Star Wars Fan. I like but not enough to import its ships. But I love this. About the 3D renders maybe tri angulum audio Here on UA-cam could help.

make it bigger in size and you got your self an escort, ill buy that for a dollar.

wow i love it. Thx. I want this in game :)

That's where they are on the original N1. I didn't want to change the profile too much.
Customizable fighter sounds awesome, Instead of an astromech droid it could house the repairs bots from the discovery show
I always forget about the DOTs from Discovery. I guess one of them could for too, but we've never seen one outside of either Discovery era.
I love this combination. She is beautiful
They need to update fighters and shuttles in Sto becuase they kinda have no purpose
I can see these as a small craft/hangar pet

it would be nice to see them try new ideas like this but with how crazy copyright disputes are these days its probably not going to happen.

@Stu1701 they need better lawyers. But you could do a video on the best designs well never see in the game. E.g. the Ares
I have always enjoyed the naboo fighters.
I would like to see an X-Style Fed fighter, and Y-Wing style fed fighter.
I was hoping you'd have Data's head sticking out the back 😅🖖

How much did this art cost?
Too small to have warping, maybe make it a torpedo instead? How would it handle the power? Couldn't you upscale the size to hold all that?
we've seen shuttles with warp capability, i dont see why this can't wither.
Cockpit should be full glass. Rest is ok for me.
What kind of unholy contraption is THAT!
STO Summer ship 2026
Paint it black and add a cloaking device. That's a prefect Section 31 operative ship right there.
Good idea, but a bad design having the wings so far foward. Blocks your vision. Cool video
gee thanks, i guess...
