    I started writing stories for my train obsessed toddler who never wanted to go to bed. Just started recording audios weekly and releasing them on youtube. The premise is that the bed turns into a magic train once they close their eyes and each time they get to travel to a different part of the world. @

    I have two toddlers and they both sleep in bed with us 😖 it’s really hard on our marriage and we have tried several times to get my older daughter to sleep in her room and the younger in her crib but they refuse. The major issue is, we live in an apartment and I’m afraid they will make too much noise for the neighbors if we let them cry it out. Also, they don’t have a bed time, they just sleep when we do. It’s very stressful and I feel as though I have very little time to myself and alone time with my husband since the kids are awake with us 24/7. I’m going to try your way tonight and see if it works. I’m at my wits end with this.

      It is the same as for a toddler, she needs to learn how to sleep in her own bed. When you give in you reinforce the behavior.

We have videos here for feeling overwhelmed and depressed, as well as for parenting needs (our Positive Parenting playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLq2mRDkHEBPCclxt6agg3wrLBRkL7CCwU.html). My 4 year goes to sleep on his own no problem. He used to sleep with no issues until he got his “big boy bed”. It’s the constant waking in the night and coming to our bed between 11-5am that’s a real struggle and while we are consistent at first come 4-5AM with no sleep... you cave. Not sure what to do anymore with him up at all hours of the night.

    We struggle so much with our daughter's sleep routine. She always asks for more and more water or another book, even when we say it is time for bed, she throws the most horrible tantrums for an hour, always, she is as consistent as our sleep routine. I think stubbornness is part of our family. She always does the same, until she gets tired. But how can we reduce her tantrums time? it is being a month :(

    • @LiveOnPurposeTV
      @LiveOnPurposeTV  2 роки тому +2

      When you can detach from her tantrums they will likely lessen. Make sure she is not seeing you get tipped over by her behavior, let her have the tantrum in her room and reward any positive behaviors as much as you can.

    There are cultures where kids sleep in the same room as their parents (Japan for instance). So why should a todler sleep alone in his/her room when the adults get to be together in a room. Doesn't the todler need more emotional support than the adults?
    I am being a little provocative, but it is a real question.

    • @LiveOnPurposeTV
      @LiveOnPurposeTV  5 років тому +13

      I appreciate you asking, carolineg.berlin. This video is for parents who want their toddlers to sleep in their own room. There are others who don't mind the children in their bed and they have that choice. I chose the topic because this is a question that I get asked, not infrequently. Toddlers do need emotional support but I know that I don't give much support when I am asleep and prefer to have a good nights sleep so I can be supportive of those around me when I am awake. What is your opinion?

  • @genoramirez4204

    I have two kids, ages 5 and 3. We are trying to have them sleep alone in their own rooms. They will be sharing the same room, different beds. They are across each other on the other side of the room. When it's bed time, they both get out of their beds and mess around. We have the door slightly open and they get up and either close it or open it and run to their beds laughing. We tell them it's bed time about 3 times before and then we just walk in the room and don't say anything to lay them down. But they think it's a game with us. It takes forever for them to listen and go to sleep. Any suggestions or methods when they think it's a game trying to put them to sleep ?

    • @LiveOnPurposeTV
      @LiveOnPurposeTV  2 роки тому

      Geno Ramirez, do you have a bed time routine. I would start there. If you do, tie some privilege to going to sleep so they are rewarded for the behavior.

      @@LiveOnPurposeTV Thank you for responding. We just started a better bedtime routine maybe 4 days ago. I know it's not a overnight thing doing but it just seems like it'll take forever. I know I Don t have the way to do it when I try to to talk with him he plays with me.. I spent all day with him.. He throws tandrums a lot I think due to late speech.. dimi siatos, start by looking at his sleeping schedule during the day, then look at his activity level. Make sure he is active well before bed so he is tired, then develop the night time routine that will get him settled, story, snack, teeth brushing, prayer if religious, etc. whatever your routine is. He understands you so let him know the expectations and then reward him for staying in his room and discipline him when he gets up.

      creative girl, there is nothing wrong with laying with the child for a few minutes as part of the bed time routine but we really want the child to be able to fall asleep on their own. There are many things you can do if the child expresses fear of the dark, give them a flashlight, nightlight, etc. Most children go to bed between 8 and 9pm, depends on the child and the family's schedule. Thank you for watching.
