It should be clarified that the Scrum Master and the Project Manager are 2 completely different roles. If the Tech company has merged the 2, roles into 1 role, then they've created an anti-pattern. I'm actually working to fix this exact anti-pattern with my current role. Another good video sis. As much as I have some coding skills which I’m pretty good at , I hate the fact of feeling like I have to memorize so many coding lines to get through an interview…. If you are reporting on data, it is important to communicate exactly what you need when talking to the Dev Ops team. @@MrLebohangk I would recommend taking any professional development courses (Linkedin, Udemy, etc) to obtain a certificate for CSM fundamentals. From there, start learning topics such as Growth Marketing and Product Management on a high level. These will ensure that you can work closely with other teams who drive adoption, MRR, etc. while not breaking the bank for courses.
I focused on these while in CX and was able to double my salary in 1-2 years. I moved from a Support agent, and then jumped ship to a start up as a CSM making 6 figures. Hope that helps! Shoot for the stars and apply for LOTS of CSM roles within tech. :)

@@cuteshntl1 Yes, I just had a look and they have a bunch for both! For GM, you'll likely see courses labelled "Growth Hacking" for example. It'll teach you more about the process of lead generation.
I wouldn't get too hung up on these as they're more important for you to understand the departments/partners you'll be working with closely - I found it helped me understand the customer lifecycle from the beginning, basically. Your role as a CSM will be to drive adoption and retention of customers, and be skilled enough to implement changes to the service experience/product to drive those metrics, so it's all useful knowledge to have.
Hope that helps! Happy New Year and good luck! :)

As someone who has worked in the QA industry for 7+ years and has interviewed and trained many people to be a manual tester (it's a skill) and programming as our QA do both. The things I look for in a resume especially if you are switching careers is that you are teachable, personable, and fit with the team. Highlight things that showcase that in a cover letter if your resume isn't tech heavy

Great video for someone who wants to get into IT without coding and is looking for ideas! However the part about Project Manager and Scrum Master was so very wrong and I feel the need to clarify. Project Manager, Scrum Master and Product Owener are all very different roles and they were mushed together here. Anyone who's interested in any of these roles, please look them up separately. The duties you described do not belong to Scrum Master. Yes, the Scrum Master helps the team to work more efficient and stay on track by conducting 5 Scrum Events, but the responsibilities on backlog, planning, review and tasks belong to either a Product Owner, The development team or both. Scrum Master makes sure the Scrum team is following the Scrum framework described in Scrum Guide, helps remove external or internal problems the Team might have that are blocking their productivity, facilitates meetings, helps resolve conflicts and supports Product Owner. What Scrum Master actually does during the day may vary from company to company, because Scrum is a framework and only describes general rules, while the practices are free to be chosen on your own. Project Manager deals with stakeholders, budget and planning and is often alloting tasks while Scrum Master does not (unless someone requires facilitation or a reminder of Scrum principles).
