@@wavyamar To be honest though, Maynard was disappointing, as a pro. He was a good amateur (winning the Olympic Gold), but it didn't translate to the pro ranks. Hearns could do this to nobodies but not to the top Cruiserweights. Best days were long behind him.
I don't think it really did. Both guys were only 5 pounds over lightheavy, not true cruiser weight. Also, Hearns had trouble with big middleweights. He would've been destroyed during this time by the top Super middleweights, lost a second fight with Barkley and left.
Hearns was very comfortable at this weight, and his legs were carrying him well, which was not always the case at lower weights...He looked sharp here.
Canelo would knock him out in the first 3 rounds , hearns was accurate , but he always left his hands down after a combo. Canelo isn’t a fighter that you can keep making that mistake with.
@@richardwilliams8032 Canelo's footwork would have never had him in position to take advantage of Hearns low hands. That and his height. Hearns could have easily stayed out of reach.
We had the same chiropractor and I met him at the office one day. He was a great guy! I really enjoyed talking to him, and when I told him I had been boxing for the past few years he said he wanted to see what I had. He actually slap boxed me right there in the waiting room. lol He said I was quick and moved well, and that I should get back into it. I told him that I had already seen enough of the corruption in the business and was heading to the Marines instead. I'll always remember meeting that man. He was so cool. And damn, he could move!! He would've laid me out!
Maynard is the goat of terrible nicknames. Nothing to smile about in the hurt business of boxing. That nickname shows he doesn't understand how hard boxing is and how tough you have to be to win at the top level. Knocking out bums with no skills is not the same as fighting a guy like Tommy Hearns or a guy like Hagler.
Its kinda insane that Thomas Hearns power carried up from 147lbs to KOing Cruiserweights smh crazy lol
Imagine how the Welterweights felt when he hit them!!
@@milojanis4901 just scary.....vaporized

Thomas The Hitman Hearns he's probably one of the most exciting fighters of all time.. A true great and warrior, brutal right hand power 👊
Maybe the most entertaining boxer to watch.
The glory days of boxing o_o
2:52 I've never seen a one hand power combo like this that actually connected from an older damaged fighter.
My Army Stablemate, Maynard. They should’ve never changed his boxing style.
You mean his new boxing style of being used as a punching bag?
NO HE DIDNT WANT TO LEARN HOW TO BOX. THATS WHY HE LEFT RAY
Maynard was a real prospect

I think he was naturally a smaller guy so im not sure if this was his natural weight
Puts Canelo in perspective. Hearns would have crushed him.
Definitely

@@johnulmerRacing I hope u no saying that hearns footwork is better than canelos ?
@@richardwilliams8032 absolutely I am. Footwork is the one knock on Canelo. It's become better in recent fights, but still not on the level of Hearns.
Brutal .
maynard trained me when i was about 14 yrs old badass coach
Nice

Warriors the best
Hit man had the baddest stare in the buisness.
The lesson of this fight is don't ever choose the nickname "smiling" if you're a fighter.
Andrew used to come over and eat love that dude was super cool
Definitely a punch to the back of the head but he still would've lost. He looked out of it.
So I'm the only person who noticed that punch was in the back of the head?
No. It was a dirty punch.

Thas one of my best friends
Maynard wanted none of the cobra hitman but he got some😨😧😲
Mr Maynards been on the wine gums.😂
Maynard had a glass everything.
I love Tommy, but that was a dirty punch to the back of the head.
Hearns crossed was a downfall of many fighters
Ganó con un golpe ilegal, a la nuca, era muy cochino tommy
