90% of their IRs library has been sampled 15 or more years ago, so i presume they already repaid the effort to make them. honestly for today's market this update is disappointing... 🤔 no ducking, no dynamic control, no advanced modulation, no second iLok activation, out of market price.
For the price of v8 regular version you can actually buy the bundle with ALL Liquidsonics reverbs! 😎

@@greganikin7003 There is absolutely no need to buy a hardware reverb unit like that in this day and age, period. It's just waste of money and space. At this point I could confidently say that there are a huge number of super high end reverb plugins and pedals out there that sound as good if not better. Altiverb though being a convolution type reverb is just a head and shoulder above the rest IMHO, and I have most if not all of them already.

A more streamlined version (even one with no atmos) would make much more sense.

@@modernistmixing Altiverb the software, pretty much, yes. The value is only in the IR library. If I could load the altiverb library into other IR loaders, I don't think I would miss out on anything. Most of the time the stock IR reverbs of my DAWs would be enough. For non-atmos music that is.
But maybe I'm just overlooking something, that's why I'm asking.

Altiverb 7 user here: What I would really love to hear is an A/B comparison of music (like you showed in the wooden church) in "Altiverb 8 Stereo" vs. "Altiverb 8 Atmos - mixed binaural." So I know if the xl version offers me any benefits. (I don't work in post, just record acoustic music for my own enjoyment)

Got Altiverb 6, and it's on of the best, most realistic plugin reverbs I've ever heard. From all the most popular ones like Seventh Heaven, Lexicon, Uad, Fabfilter, SoundToys, Eventide, Valhalla, and TC Electronics. There's a time and place for them all, but this one stands out to me. And it's so realistic, which is hard for reverbs to get right digitally IMO. Have used the analog EMT 250 plate as well(or at least on of them).

Well, the difference is that Altiverb is what we call "Convolution reverb", so when you listed plugins such as SoundToys Plate, Valhalla reverbs etc, they're mostly "Algorithmic", that is, they use mathematical modeling. Convolution reverbs are sort of "captured real-life spaces".

For example, if I use Altiverb during the mixing process, can Room EQs applied on the master bus or in the system (minimum phase EQs designed to ensure neutrality for headphones and speakers) negatively affect the authenticity of the rooms in Altiverb and the "placement" of the sound?

Seems like a nice update but, the user interface is VERY uninspiring and cheap-looking. Every object and border is dull grey - (maybe, a few user-selectable colour schemes?).
Also, every modern music reverb does/should have an adjustable "ducker" side-chain feature to reduce undesired masking over the source vocal.
These expectations are fairly reasonable, given the premium cost of Altiverb.

well, there is a little more footwork involved by capturing the impulses in all the locations around the world. i would say it´s also a little more expensive than only have to pay for some coding, don´t you think? also altiverb is quite the standard in postproduction, so i would say it´s in the budget.
