Great to see you back man! I loved your excitement with the thrash sound. I think Fami added is gonna turn LOVEBITES into one of my favorite bands. Like top 3.
Did you notice that they goofed around with each others instruments? Good to know that they are so comfortable as a group to do that. It bodes well for the future.
Like I always say (and many more who know their abilities and songs by now), "It 's just Lovebites. What else is there to say?" And both fans and these ladies show a happy, proud, relishing face. 😁 🐺
Exactly five years ago, on February 23, 2018, Lovebites held their solo concert "Re-Awakening From Abyss Live 2018" at Shibuya Music Exchange, Tokyo. The encore included the "Overkill" Motörhead cover and "Eagle Fly Free" Helloween cover.
Yes it's thrash but it's also got a groove very few thrash bands ever achieve. It's amazing how they can mix up so many styles and influences and just make it all better.
This is already becoming my all-time favorite LB song. In some ways its like an homage to the best of the 80s. I hear Motorhead, Maiden, Priest as well as some of the best US thrash, mixed and matched and turned into their very own brand of amazing. It seems like whatever they touch they turn into gold. It's time for them to be one of the big names.
my favorite thing about lovebites is that they wear their influences on their sleeve but make it their own sound. In this i personally hear motorhead influence but as you said its all just a way we break things down to understand
Truth. Motorhead. But they don't straight-up copy Motorhead. It just happens to be in the style of Motorhead. Lovebites has a rare talent of being able to do this with all the influences. They can take any style, and create something unique with it.
I enjoyed this song way more than I thought I would at first. Not that I thought it didn't sound good or anything at first, it just grew on me so fast. I can't wait to see them perform this one live. It reminds me a bit of Raise Some Hell just in the sense that it feels like it's going to be one of their 'lets have some fun' songs, if that makes sense. The gang vocals and chorus are probably some of my favorite in any Lovebites song, tbh. As much as I love Lovebites one thing that stands out to me is how literally everything they do is good. Like, not trying to sound like some 'fanboy' that can't admit when things aren't good or whatever about their favorite things, but they legit nail every song they've done. I cannot think of one song of theirs I do not like, and I cannot say that about any other band I listen to. And somehow, after all the stuff they've done, they release new stuff and it immediately jumps to the top of their stuff for me. Like, they are 'still' getting better. And getting better while implementing a new band member. Who, imo, has fit in almost too perfectly.
When both bands put out new videos on the same day, I was confused. I didn't realize it was my birthday. You said nobody is doing this music anymore. I agree. Another reactor said of them after listening to this song that Lovebites is the standard. Re: Fami's smile and being part of the team. During the bass tryouts, the other members said from the moment she walked in the room, it was like a bright light of good energy.
This is modernized 80's thrash. Everything Lovebites does is modernized versions of musical styles from decades go. I think they do break the mold, because no other band I have ever heard blends genres and influences to make Lovebites metal. This song and "Dissonance" are killers!! I believe they are all singing. BTW, music volume was a bit low, in my opinion.
Another masterpiece created by Miyako! It shows just how insanely talented she is; she can write this song and also write "Swan Song" with all of it's classical music influences. You are going to love this entire album. I got it today, and WoW! There are 10 tracks, 4 of which I love. The other 6 tracks, I f***ing LOVE! In other words, it's an amazing album. There's not a bad song on it, and there's not a slow song on it! The entire thing is in-your-face, a** kicking, face-melting metal. Simply put, it's the best new metal album in many, many years!
Not just 4 of them in the group chants/chorus. All 5 at times. You can see Haruna joining in as well some times. Which is even more impressive because she just keeps on drumming.
I got up early and joined their album listening party-they were adorable of course. Having heard the whole album or most of it, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this song is going to propel them to a new level of popularity. This track just kills!
Last night I pre ordered it like before 9 pm on iTunes. At 9 pm it became available. It was nice to listen to the other songs. And they did not disappoint.
I have to admit "Stand and Deliver" has moved me closer to Lovebites. Their inclusion of Fami in the group didn't hurt. p.s. Miyako kind of reminds me of Saiki of BAND-MAID when it comes to stoic looks. hahaha (cool)
【Interview with Asami and Fami】 Asami wanted to use the sound of "river" in the lyrics, but thought it would be strange to use "river" as the chorus. Asami found "deliver" and thought it would be cool if everyone shouted it out instead of just telling what the word means. From there, Asami arrived at "stand and deliver. "Stand and deliver" is a pirate term that apparently means "Leave all your money!" Asami thought that if he wrote the lyrics as they were, it would be a song about a "pirate king. Asami wanted to avoid that. Asami learned that "deliver" can also mean "to carry out" or "to be free" in addition to "to deliver. From there, Asami put the following thoughts into the lyrics. Nothing satisfies me. It's boring to be like this every day! Let's go more bouncy! Let's be bold and do something different! Let's break out of our shell!
They will have a movie made about how Lovebites took over for the aging Big 4 and took ☠️🔥 Metal 🔥☠️to another level soon after they finish Touring 🇺🇸 🐺
Great moving chord progression through Miyako's solo - requires real talent to create a coherent solo over that, but elevates the solo hugely. She also doing harmony vocals in the prechorus BTW.
catchy awesome song.. seems like a gun shooting sound i've heard. Lovebites just got some 'crazy brain' that succesfully composed this song..amazing. great reaction bro.
Interesting that you said this song gives you stronger Iron Maiden and Judas Priest vibes than most of their other songs. This is actually one of the first ones that does NOT give me Iron Maiden or Judas Priest vibes, lol! To me, this gives me very heavy Motorhead vibes, with a hint of Ministry (while remaining uniquely their own sound, of course).
good to see you Champ. glad you enjoyed this and the B-M love-letter. This song is fire and tbh the entire album is fantastic. I think you'll enjoy it. How lucky are we to be alive to experience Lovebites, Nemophila, Band-Maid, BRIDEAR, Aldious, Lonesome_Blue, Hagane, etc etc. I feel blessed. I love seeing them more casual and not in their formal concert white gear. trading instruments and having fun, love it. such a great vibe off of this song and MV.
I feel like most of their music exists on a spectrum from thrash to power metal. Sometimes it's a full on thrash song with very power metaly chorus vocals, sometimes it's a full on power metal song but with a heavy thrash rhythm guitar on the verse.
I wouldn't call this thrash, it's just fast, like hardcore punk fast. The beat's pure Discharge "d-beat", aka hardcore British punk circa 1980, but obviously more skilled players, and the bass tone's straight outta Lemmy. They DO have plenty of thrash songs though, in fact one concern people had was that they'd lose the thrashy edge without Miho in the band, since she wrote most of their best ones. Maybe go more symphonic or lean more toward the power metal side. However, that fear was obviously (thankfully) unwarranted, if you've heard Dissonance off the new album, which is pure facemelt. As for Fami, they got themselves a prodigy, which is very cool indeed, but Miho was no slouch herself, and they've had songs that started off with bass, like Scream For Me for one. Miho played a very deep low bottom end tone, whereas Fami's tone is much more clear. I thought that wouldn't work so well because Miho and Haruna were so locked in that they sounded like a single instrument except on the rare occasion when Miho did some fiddly bits, which she didn't do all that often as it's not her preferred style, but it works, so I'm happy. This album kills. I don't know if it's better than their other albums, but it's definitely not worse than any of them. I don't think Lovebites are capable of writing a bad song.
I think I just ODed on subgenre talk. Thanks for mentioning Testament, though. I've always liked them. Plus, while I have been to a ton of concerts, I don't have a big pick collection. Alex Skolnick is one of the few I do have.
OMG you're ranting LOL you didn't leave me anything to say Champ. I loved it! That was good. Seriously speaking the ladies have just become a way better band by incorporating their vocals full on this way. and i , for one am glad they didn't do the twin harmonies again. It was a fresh approach, and it shows how the band has shifted a bit. Miyako is my Kanami, because she has those other influences also like Gary Moore, and can also take on some bluesy excursions, and bring some different songwriting (IE Empty Daydream) which I think will allow the band a longer life. Anyway, I'm ranting now LOL this song rips! I love it!!!
I agree with the champ on his power metal comment. I could never find myself getting into power metal and even a lot of thrash metal and then Lovebites came and I thought maybe I'd been missing out on something but still found very few that I can get into. Lovebites is that exception and I love that they are the exception.
The chemistry between them is obvious but there's something making me feel Midori and Fami are going to be cheeky troublemakers in the best possible way! Also can Asami get any cuter, bopping away at the front at the beginning of this video? This is absolute fire and by all accounts the album never lets go, which was so much more than I hoped for, and for me I would be completely okay if it wasn't so in your face! PS.. you're going to love "Dissonance".. 😉
again I am so sick of people claiming that Lovebites is a power metal band, in all honesty, I don't believe anyone has a true meaning of what is power metal? It's all hogwash so stop it, Asami yells in the top of her lungs "We are Lovebites and we play Heavy Metal"
I agree Lovebites just arrived for me with the latest material. Before, and no disrespect, they were a decent powermetal band, but THIS! Is happening. Love it. For me I’m hearing so Motörhead and yes, classic thrash/metal. Great review 🤘
Man, your voice is twice as loud as the music! Maybe three times louder! I love your channel. Normally it's fairly even. Not sure what's happening today. On another note, someone coined the phrase " Hurricane Haruna". I love it. This gives us a glimpse into what their live performance might be like. Let's go see them, all 43,000 subscribers!
I agree. the music sounds low. normally, I like listening to this guy. but, if the music is too low it’s a turnoff. I rather listen to some other people reacting to the same music with better sound.
I totally love this (can't stop listening to the album) but I'm afraid another gem will go under the radar : BRIDEAR's live album "Aegis Live in London". It's one of the best metal live albums of those last 20 years at least - seriously! If you can't buy it, listen to it on any streaming platform and you'll thank me later. Totally different metal genre than Lovebites, so no competition.
I think they chose this song as the next single specifically because of the bass. Personally, it is my least favorite song on the album, but since it's still a great song you can imagine how the rest of the album is. I am crossing my fingers that they make a MV for Wicked Witch.
@Eyeosphere00 I said it was my least favorite, that does not mean I don't like it. It means I liked it the least lol. That's why I said it's a great song.
It's great that you could hear the music. For me, I don't know about anyone else's experience with THIS reaction, if you would stop talking over the music, or turn UP the music, I would have given you a thumbs up. But since this reaction fails on all these points, I gave you a thumbs down.
Champ you need pay a little closer attention. You totally missed the part in the middle where the whole band switched instruments - Miyako: Drums, Asami: Miyako's guitar, Fami: Midori's guitar, Midori: vocal mic, Haruna: faking two-hand tapping on the Bass. The reaction was accurat and positive though, so I forgive you. 🤘🐺🤘
I have one comment. You have a very bad balance between the video sound and your own sound. Either I have to turn down the volume so I hardly hear Lovebites, or you are shouting in the entire apartment. Or deafens me if I use earphones. Otherwise, super nice song and (as usual) good reaction. NOTE - I choosed to hardly not hearing Lovebites. That was the least painful choice.
Great to see you back man! I loved your excitement with the thrash sound. I think Fami added is gonna turn LOVEBITES into one of my favorite bands. Like top 3.
Lemmy is sitting on a cloud, chuckling with approval at Fami's intro...🤘🔥
Did you notice that they goofed around with each others instruments? Good to know that they are so comfortable as a group to do that. It bodes well for the future.

Yes it's thrash but it's also got a groove very few thrash bands ever achieve. It's amazing how they can mix up so many styles and influences and just make it all better.
This song put me over the edge, i bought the album. Asami has a GREAT GREAT voice. The guitar playing is super tightly coupled!

I loved how they played around mid song each member playing another instument. an Miyako Was actually pulling of the drums.

Big nod to Lemmy at the beginning I think!
I call PowerThrash
Actually the style of the whole riff is more punk style, not really thrash. The speed makes it lean towards thrash, rather than the riff itself.
It's not really thrash. It's more 80's inspired hard rock with a little bit of punk thrown in.

Hmmmmm .... seems like you have fixed it?
Too much pause.
Wait, this is not Adam Ant. 😄
now we got 2 bangers with that title
