I went to three of their concerts in 66 and 67 when I was in Jr. High School. I was so in love with Mark Lindsay! The Raiders' music is wonderful, they are marvelous showmen, and LOOK AT MARK!!!! Thank you for posting this.
they had headcolds in this watch mark down the honey and tea I am surprised Paul does not take the clippers to marks hair him being a former barber this band was not into drugs or booze they sang the first anti drug song KICKS it was maddening for them 33 cities in a month
I liked their music, but wasn't aware of the Theatrics that they obviously Loved. My first Professional gig, I had the same organ that Paul played. A Vox Super Continental, double keyboard with the color of the keys opposite of regular keyboards. Sharps and flats were white, and the other keys were black. My, how time flies!
My blood boils just thinking how much footage like this there is rotting away in attics & "vaults" across the land, and it's largely unable to be brought to DVD because of lawyers. Inevitably, floods, fires or just plain "cleaning" happens, and stuff like this is lost forever. Rinse & Repeat.
mine too but read the bottom of the video that email address belongs to the new raiders which is run by Jamie revere his son and the guy who handles the raiders videos is the new bass player Ron foos I contacted him after revere died about the alternate version of the song Hungary which haa lyrics about a penthouse in the sky where as the song says we can get stoned you and I the band was not noted for promoting drugs during the sixties and I was concerned about Revere's name being ruined as a fan I wanted Ron to know that somehow the alternate version was out there I would hate to see their clean cut non drug related behavior image altered. they were the clean version of the Stones
D W - I will do my best to answer your question. Drake Levin had to leave the group in 1966. He joined the National Guard as he was expected to be drafted. Due to the National Guard arrangement, Drake was still able to perform on Raiders record into 1967. Drake even came back to help with touring as seen in this clip. Phil Volk “Fang” and Michael Smith “Smitty” left the group in 1967 to form a group called Brotherhood with Drake.
@@valerieehrlich7166 Correction. The email address in the video belongs to me, James Commento, AKA Raider Rooter. I am just a fan, but have videoed the band in the past. Paul Revere & The Raiders became Paul Revere's Raiders after Paul died. The Band link is www.Paul ReveresRaiders.com. Sorry for any confusion. Jamie, Ron, Doug, Tommy, Danny, and NEW LEAD SINGER David Huizenga are all GREAT GUYS.
Hi! Long time no see. I can hardly communicate on YT any more since google screwed it all up - plus I was offline for about a year. I was glad to see a new post by you.
Thanks for posting, Rooter....they were the BEST!! I'm from the PNW myself and remember them playing in Aberdeen (Armory) Hoquiam (Vasa Hall and the Harborena) and they always put on a great show!! They were true American Rock and Roll!!
saw the Raiders multiple times with the WVOK RADIO Station combined shows in the 60/70s, one of the best show bands ever. RIP to the members that have passed. you will not be forgotten. check out Revire's Raiders
Does anybody remember their tour in El Paso? Trying to come up with who else was on the bill. I think Hermans Hermits and the Hollies and a few others...Might have been 1967...
To have to suck down aspirin(?) And sip tea with honey, be sick and go out with that kind of energy to a screaming audience..well my respect to the boys. Ya gotta be tough
A girl once wrote that she met the band, before a show, and Mark seemed quiet and out of sorts. They did a full , energetic show. She found out later, that Mark had broken a bone in his foot, before they went on. His boot had to be cut off, at the hospital.
Man seen at 0.22, somebody later stole that 10 gallon hat according to 16 magazine in a page public service announcement to tell fans to not steal from the performers.
I wish I could have tied my hair back the way Mark did when I had long hair. I could hardly manage getting a rubber band around it. Guess it takes talent!
I’m curious - were the two songs featured in this clip part of the original airing, or overlaid later on? (The screaming that can be heard over the music makes me think it’s the former, but I wanted to ask anyway) it would have been marvelous to hear the band talking as they went about getting ready for their concert 🙂
I think Mark Lindsay had a bad cold with laryngytis I saw this video once on a Dick Clark program (forgot which one it was) Mark mentioned that he was downing the honey in a jar and doing the hot tea because he had a bad cold. ...hope he put lemon into the tea and maybe breathed some of the hot steam from the kettle to clear that congestion.

@@valerieehrlich7166 Mark has admitted he used drugs.
I was a senior in H.S.
They were the ONLY Band as far as my friends and I were concerned!

Great band, but Paul's sculpted Beatle wig hairdo always looked slightly ridiculous....
PaulLonden yeah it was ridiculous he was a barber and he should have left it cut the way it was on the Just Like Us album very cool
that is his own hair not a wig please
