I'm formerly homeless, and I know a great deal of currently or formerly homeless people. Greater than 99% of us find the word "homeless" quite appropriate. It's accurate and inoffensive. I do, however, get dismayed when people act like it's a dirty word that needs to be replaced by a synonym or euphemism.

Vervaeke : Flemish -Belgian name pronounced Ver-vaa-ke ( not 'key' at the end , but a very short e )
He pronounced John’s last name the way he pronounces it himself.
